Greta Gerwig In Theory by Olivier Theyskens - 2014 Met Gala

Greta Gerwig brought some drama to the red carpet for the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

She wore a custom Theory by Olivier Theyskens black and white tonal gown featuring an asymmetrical sheer yoke, a lined flutter sleeve and a rise-and-fall hemline.

It was one of my favourites of the night, on a night where going big and stepping out of your comfort zone should be the norm.

Wearing a high, tight bun, she styled her look with cat-eyes, red lips, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Sergio Rossi satin platform pumps.

J’adore from head to toe.

Amber Valletta In Saint Laurent - 2014 Met Gala

Amber Valletta took the menswear-inspired route for her red carpet look for the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

Dressed in Saint Laurent, the model/actress donned a sparkling sequined satin-lapel blazer, sans blouse, styled with slim-fit trousers.

A decorative necklace somewhat steals the show here, with black pumps, a red lip and a gold clutch completing the look.

The necklace doesn’t work here. I’m baffled by its inclusion with the sequin blazer.

Michelle Monaghan In Altuzarra - 2014 Met Gala

Michelle Monaghan took to the red carpet for the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The actress wore a custom burgundy leather fringe V-neck Altuzarra gown featuring a side slit.

Working a deep smouldering, smoky eye, she styled her look with an opulent gold pendant necklace with ruby and green stones, a Pomellato gold and garnet ring, black strappy sandals and a gold clutch.

As much as I love this fringed dress, I’m loving that necklace more.

Janelle Monae In Tadashi Shoji - 2014 Met Gala

If you were expecting Janelle Monae to stick to her favoured black and white at the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City, you may have been in for a small surprise.

The musician did wear a white blouse and black trousers, but she also added a dramatic red and black crewel-embroidered Tadashi Shoji Fall 2014 tulle cape.

Adding the cape was just what was required to shake up her look and add a touch of drama to it in order to align the look with the theme of the night.

Jimmy Choo ‘Damek’ sandals, Kwiat jewels, and a chic braided updo completed her look.

Imogen Poots In Proenza Schouler - 2014 Met Gala

Imogen Poots attended the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City alongside designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough of Proenza Schouler.

The actress wore a black flock-printed embroidered dress from their Fall 2014 collection, which was styled with black lizard criss-cross Proenza Schouler sandals and Jennifer Meyer jewels.

I wanted to love this but, between the droopy bodice and heavy shoes, this was a no for me. This had the potential to be a great look.
