Who Wore Julien Macdonald Better Kate Beckinsale or Taylor Swift

For the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar party, Kate Beckinsale wore a gorgeous Julien Macdonald black, long sleeve sequin embellished dress with a sheer back and sheer sleeves which glimmered from every angle.

Styled with a black clutch and a signature high ponytail, she was the picture of glamour and perfection.

Cut to 2014 and Taylor Swift wore the same dress to the same event taking it up a level with the ruby lips and ring, however, Kate wins for me, for allowing the gown to speak for itself.

Kate Beckinsale In Monique Lhuillier - 'Macbeth' Opening Night

Kate Beckinsale was at the opening night of ‘Macbeth’ in New York City, where she also attended the after party at the Park Avenue Armory on Thursday (June 5).

The actress was beautiful in a strapless, white lace-embossed dress from Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2014 collection.

She kept the styling simple yet directional, with cage Casadei sandals, a Kotur box clutch and a selection of bracelets.

She also surprisingly skipped her favoured high ponytail, replacing it with softer, face-framing curls.

Kate Beckinsale In Jenny Packham - Jameson Empire Awards 2014

Kate Beckinsale was back in the UK to attend the Jameson Empire Awards 2014 held at The Grosvenor House Hotel on Sunday (March 30) in London, England.

The actress wore a Jenny Packham Fall 2014 mulberry-red gown with an alluring cut-out waist and back, which was further enhanced by a gold Swarovski-crystal trim.

With her trademark bouffant ponytail firmly in place, she accessorized with metallic sandals for a modern spin, completing her look with a gold-python and black Christian Louboutin ‘Khepira’ clutch, which were all the rage at the Louboutin luncheon last week.

Kate Beckinsale In Marchesa - United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Presents '2014 Los Angeles Dinner What You Do Matters'

Kate Beckinsale attended the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum presents ‘2014 Los Angeles Dinner: What You Do Matters’ event held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Thursday (March 6) in Beverly Hills, California.

The British actress, who looked stunning at the Vanity Fair party on Sunday, opted to wear a Marchesa Fall 2013 dress.
Her pink strapless duchess-satin cocktail dress featuring a draped bodice with red floral embroidery and a bustle-back train accent isn’t my favourite.

The train is bothersome. I feel the dress would’ve looked much better – and less fussy – without it.

A red Rauwolf clutch to complement the floral embroidery, nude pumps, a diamond ear cuff and a wavy updo completed her look.

Yay or nay on the train?

Kate Beckinsale In Elie Saab Couture - Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2014

Kate Beckinsale joined a host of A-listers on the red carpet of the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscars Party on Sunday (March 2) in West Hollywood, California.

The eternally well-dressed star hardly ever fails to disappoint and here she dazzled in an Elie Saab Spring 2003 Couture bronze sleeveless sequin gown with high split and cut out back detail from the archives.

The luxurious tone of the sequins suited Kate’s complexion perfectly, and made her look like she was glowing.

While the high split and cut-out detailing are quite daring, Kate pulls these off with ease and her soft, sophisticated make-up and elegant bouncy waves add a hint of old-Hollywood glamour.

Kate’s on-trend pair of gold strappy sandals and matching box clutch tied the look together perfectly, and kept it light and sparkling.
