On Tuesday evening, Max Mara hosted an evening in conjunction with W Magazine to honour Hailee Steinfeld as the Women In Film’s 2013 Face of the Future award winner. The attendees either wore Max Mara or Sportmax.
Hailee Steinfeld: The woman, or should I say girl, of the hour wore a Sportmax grey cotton-and-neoprene sleeveless dress, which she styled with a black clutch and Jimmy Choo ‘Myth’ black-and-yellow sandals. For an honorary guest, the dress doesn’t stand out enough for my liking. Thankfully, the accessories – a red lip colour and youthful side-swept wavy ponytail – save the look.
Jordana Brewster: While I don’t like Jordana’s accessories, when I saw her Sportmax ‘Azulene’ white-and-orange floral-print sleeveless dress my reaction was “this is more like it”. The looks stands out; it’s fresh, colourful and perfect for the current season.
Olivia Munn: The ‘Magic Mike’ actress also grabbed by attention in her Max Mara red-and-black velvet floral-printed dress featuring a black waistband, asymmetrical peplum and side slit. What it lacks in season appropriateness (who wears velvet in summer?), it makes up in vibrancy and ultra femininity. Like Jordana, the styling is way off track. The gold clutch gets a pass, but the grey Saint Laurent ‘Tribtoo’ heels get a hell no: mostly because of the colour, but I thought we had finally seen the back of these pumps.
