2014 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Menswear Roundup

2014 Critics' Choice Movie Awards Menswear RoundupThe men put their sartorial stamp on the 19th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, hosted on Thursday night (January 16) at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Here, a look at the handsome highlights.

Bradley Cooper: The Best Supporting Actor nominee, who also made it onstage to accept the trophy for Best Acting Ensemble in ‘American Hustle,’ combined the best of both worlds—comfort and class—in his Bottega Veneta ‘Quetsche’ flannel plum suit and baby-blue button-up shirt. He looked effortlessly fine in this tie-less entrance, and the subtle yet striking shade couldn’t have been more compelling.

James Marsden
: I could barely believe my eyes when I saw ‘The Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ actor on the red carpet in an Ovadia & Sons grey plaid suit, paired with a dark navy tie and tan Givenchy lace-up shoes. It was bold move, but he still wore it well. Do you agree?

Jeremy Renner
: Forgetting the more informal trappings of his co-star Bradley, the ‘American Hustle’ actor dressed up in an Ermenegildo Zegna one-button, black tuxedo with tonal satin notch lapel tuxedo, along with a white shirt, black bow tie and black shoes.

Amy Adams In Antonio Berardi & Jennifer Lawrence In Alexander McQueen – ‘American Hustle’ Cast Photo Call

"American Hustle" Cast Photo CallOn Sunday, the ‘American Hustle’ cast congregated at the Crosby Stereet Hotel in New York City on Sunday for a photo call, where they didn’t exactly coordinate their looks, instead working an eclectic sartorial mix of outfits.

Amy Adams: Modishly monochromatic, the actress kept her look straightforward but sexy in an Antonio Berardi Resort 2014 v-neck dress that featured figure-shaping black side panels and a white waistband for definition. She styled the frock simply with black pumps, neutral makeup and a volume-enhanced blowout.

Christian Bale: The actor, who accessorized with a good bit of scruff, was casual-cool in a black button-up, slouchy jeans and slightly faded shoes.

Jennifer Lawrence: Once again eschewing Dior, Jennifer looked radiant in an Alexander McQueen Spring 2014 knit embossed dress in an incredible shade of intense blue, paired with a few well-placed yet minimal jewels by Dana Rebecca Designs, a ring by EF Collection, and the boldly pretty pop of her magenta lip. Ordinarily, I might object to the black tights and black pumps, but on this occasion, they just let the dress take top billing, as it should. She stood out like a style star here, among her more neutrally clad co-stars.

Bradley Cooper: Bradley was apparently donning his same Todd Snyder plaid shirt from the ‘American Hustle’ NYC after party, this time wearing it with dark denim.

Jeremy Renner: Keeping the guys’ informal theme going strong, Jeremy put on a pair of J Brand ‘Kane’ jeans, which he dressed up with a navy topcoat, then dressed down with a well-worn pair of black boots.

Jeremy Renner In Dior Homme – ‘American Hustle’ LA Screening

Jeremy Renner In Dior Homme - 'American Hustle' LA Screening

Jeremy Renner joined Amy Adams on the red carpet yesterday evening for the ‘American Hustle’ LA screening held at the Directors Guild Theater in California yesterday evening.

The actor donned a Dior Homme deep-blue wool notch-lapel tuxedo styled with a white cotton shirt, black silk tie and black patent-leather derbies.

We’ve seen many great suits this year but this is one of the most unique yet, as the suit has not only silk lapels but also silk detailing lining the front of the blazer, the pocket and the pants.

Is the silk overplayed here?

Best Dressed Of The Week – Nicole Kidman In Valentino Couture and Jesscia Chastain In Givenchy Couture

BDOTW Nicole & Jessica

Nicole Kidman was your clear winner for Best Dressed this week, wearing a Valentino Couture gown during Cannes Film Festival.

It was just one of many gowns worn by the Australian actress which swept us off our feet during the 12-day festival.

My pick was Jessica Chastain in Givenchy Couture. It was such an unexpected, bold choice for the usually reserved star. On a post of mostly neutral-coloured gowns, she really stood out.

BDOTW Men Tom & Jeremy

When it comes to men, our choices also greatly differed. You opted for the charming Tom Hiddleston in Alexander McQueen, while I selected Jeremy Renner in Lanvin.

While there isn’t much between them, for me the satin lapels and white pocket square added that much more refinement to Jeremy’s look to help me with my choice.

amfAR’s 20th Annual Cinema Against AIDS Menswear Round Up

amfar men 2

There were many lovely ladies at the amfAR’s 20th Annual Cinema Against AIDS yesterday evening. Here is a look at the men.

Adrien Brody: The actor wore a Roberto Cavalli tuxedo. I love everything about this look. Looking very debonair, Adrien donned a white tuxedo jacket with a black satin shawl collar, styled with shiny black pants and a unique white-and-black shirt, topped off with Cavalli loafers. Even those of you who don’t love shiny suits can’t help but admire this amazing suit.

Andres Velencoso: The Spanish model, aka Kylie Minogue’s boyfriend, also opted for a Cavalli suit. This classic look, with a black satin shawl collar and bow tie, was styled with patent-leather shoes.

Jeremy Renner: The actor looked very handsome wearing a one-button Lanvin tuxedo with black satin peak lapels, a white cotton dress shirt, a black satin bow tie, a white cotton pocket square, and black patent-leather lace-up dress shoes.

Zachary Quinto: The ‘Star Trek’ actor wore a black Giorgio Armani tuxedo. The classic look featured a black satin shawl collar – the menswear trend of the night – and a satin trim along his trousers.

Even though I love all four looks for being so well tailored and fitted, Adrien’s unique take totally wins me over.
