W Magazine’s Movie Issue

W Magazine Movie Issue

W magazine’s ‘Movie’ issue features six different covers chronicling the best films and performances of 2013, including Amy Adams, Oprah, Lupita Nyong’o, Jennifer Lawrence (in Dolce & Gabbana), Cate Blanchett and Matthew McConaughey, all of which were captured by Juergen Teller.

The surprising thing about these covers is that Jennifer doesn’t appear to be wearing Dior; that honour was bestowed upon Lupita.

Jennifer shared with the mag that moment when she fell at the 2013 Oscars, saying “I was at the Oscars, waiting to hear if my name was called, and I kept thinking, ‘Cakewalk, cakewalk, cakewalk’. I thought, ‘Why is ‘cakewalk’ stuck in my head? ’ And then, as I started to walk up the stairs and the fabric from my dress tucked under my feet, I realized my stylist had told me ‘Kick, walk, kick, walk.’ You are supposed to kick the dress out while you walk, and I totally forgot because I was thinking about cake! And that’s why I fell”.

Amy Adams In Antonio Berardi & Jennifer Lawrence In Alexander McQueen – ‘American Hustle’ Cast Photo Call

"American Hustle" Cast Photo CallOn Sunday, the ‘American Hustle’ cast congregated at the Crosby Stereet Hotel in New York City on Sunday for a photo call, where they didn’t exactly coordinate their looks, instead working an eclectic sartorial mix of outfits.

Amy Adams: Modishly monochromatic, the actress kept her look straightforward but sexy in an Antonio Berardi Resort 2014 v-neck dress that featured figure-shaping black side panels and a white waistband for definition. She styled the frock simply with black pumps, neutral makeup and a volume-enhanced blowout.

Christian Bale: The actor, who accessorized with a good bit of scruff, was casual-cool in a black button-up, slouchy jeans and slightly faded shoes.

Jennifer Lawrence: Once again eschewing Dior, Jennifer looked radiant in an Alexander McQueen Spring 2014 knit embossed dress in an incredible shade of intense blue, paired with a few well-placed yet minimal jewels by Dana Rebecca Designs, a ring by EF Collection, and the boldly pretty pop of her magenta lip. Ordinarily, I might object to the black tights and black pumps, but on this occasion, they just let the dress take top billing, as it should. She stood out like a style star here, among her more neutrally clad co-stars.

Bradley Cooper: Bradley was apparently donning his same Todd Snyder plaid shirt from the ‘American Hustle’ NYC after party, this time wearing it with dark denim.

Jeremy Renner: Keeping the guys’ informal theme going strong, Jeremy put on a pair of J Brand ‘Kane’ jeans, which he dressed up with a navy topcoat, then dressed down with a well-worn pair of black boots.

Jennifer Lawrence In Marc by Marc Jacobs – ‘American Hustle’ New York Press Conference

Jennifer Lawrence In Marc by Marc Jacobs - 'American Hustle'Jennifer Lawrence attended the ‘American Hustle’ New York press conference in a room with quite the view at the Mondrian Soho on Saturday.

The actress, who was not donning Dior, revisited the cropped trend with her structured, white top and high-waisted, slouchy black pants by Marc by Marc Jacobs, which she paired with geometric, black-and-white pumps and a simple, one-strand necklace.

Despite its more mannish overtones, there was a sense of restrained sexiness permeating this edgy yet effortless entrance, which was only enhanced by her piece-y ’do, kohl-shadowed eyes and that pretty pink lip.

With New York City acting as a perfect backdrop behind her, I couldn’t help but find this look rather cool and compelling.

Did Jennifer win you over this time?

Jennifer Lawrence’s ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Promo Tour Beauty Looks

Jennifer Lawrence’s ‘The Hunger Games Catching Fire’ Promo Tour Beauty Looks

When Jennifer Lawrence debuted a new pixie cut mere days before heading into the promotional tour for ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’, all of us red carpet trackers drew a united gasp of excitement in anticipation of how the star would style her new ‘do for her highly photographed next few weeks. And, I think I can speak for us all when I say that she not only didn’t disappoint in the hair department, but she also gave us some stunning makeup looks, as well. While her co-star, Elizabeth Banks kept things a bit more safe, Jennifer played to her young age and really took some risks, which paid off quite well for her.

In Madrid, the star really played up the piecey cut of her pixie, and went for a daring, angular, spiked out look–which she pulls off amazingly well. For her makeup, the inky blue and black modern cat eye is perfectly balanced with a downright girly berry-stained, glossy lip. To achieve skyhigh, sculptural hold in your own hair, try AG Hair Cosmetics Style Welding Paste Extreme Hold.

In Paris, Jennifer took another risk, and ended up looking as high-fashion and intrinsically ‘Parisian’ as Elizabeth Banks did that night (link to the Elizabeth Banks beauty round-up post). By starting off with a pale foundation, Jennifer’s makeup artist ensured that every other aspect of the beauty look would really draw the eye. Her ultra-dark red lip, the perfectly sculpting cheek bones, and the kohl-rimmed eyes are stunning, and the slicked down hair completes this look that really does deserve every bit of buzz it’s been getting. To get a lip as vampy as Jennifer’s, try Dior’s Addict Extreme Lipstick in Black Tie.

In Los Angeles, Jennifer’s look is slightly reminiscent of her Madrid look, but is definitely a softer version. Her hair has a slightly tousled effect, while her eyes are a more muted, smokey blue. Her glossy pink lips are also a deeper hue of pink. If you’re interested in emulating Jennifer’s look, this is probably a bit ‘safer’ for us mere mortals, since everything is softer. To recreate her smokey blue eyes, try experimenting with the shades in Dior’s 5-Colour Designer All-In-One Artistry Palette in Navy Design–it should have every colour you need to get the gorgeous look.

In New York, Jennifer further experimented with the range of her pixie by pushing much of it forward and leaving the ends wispy. Her makeup had a warm, golden quality to it, due in part to the bronzed cheeks, and almost naturally-coloured lipstick. The heavy, brown eyeshadow is winged out above and below the eye to complete the warm and sultry look. To get similar contouring on your cheeks, go with a matte bronzer like Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder.
