Jennifer Lawrence In Christian Dior Couture – 2013 BAFTA Awards

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior - 2013 BAFTA Awards

‘Silver Linings Playbook’ starlet Jennifer Lawrence attended the 2013 BAFTA Awards on Sunday, hosted at the Royal Opera House in London.

The current face of Miss Dior, she naturally chose a Christian Dior Couture design for the affair, although chilly, rainy environs necessitated a long overcoat that initially clouded the red-carpet arrival of the gown.

Once she removed the dark wrap in the press room, a strapless, ballet pink confection emerged, where a waterfall of iridescent sequin embellishment added a note of radiance.

With the gown’s sparkle, Jennifer skipped a necklace in favour of a long, geometric pendant earring.

A strong smoky eye and severely swept-back hair finished this look.

The Leading Actress nominee has lately had a rough go of it on red carpets, battling illness and some rather ill-suited sartorial statements.

With this more glamorous and girly exit from Jennifer, she continues to show she’s a red-carpet wild card. Was this look an ace for you or not?

Jennifer Lawrence In Valentino – The Hollywood Reporter Nominees’ Night 2013

Jennifer Lawrence In Valentino - The Hollywood Reporter Nominees' Night 2013

Jennifer Lawrence also changed into a second look for The Hollywood Reporter Nominees’ Night 2013 celebrating the 85th Annual Academy Award Nominees, held at Spago in Beverly Hills, California yesterday evening – thankfully.

We all weren’t too fond of her Chloe frock, but this Valentino Spring number fares much better.

The knee-length nude embroidered frock with a v-neckline was styled with a complementary pair of nude Brian Atwood ‘Wagner’ peep-toes.

What a difference a few hours makes.

Her hair is thicker and wavy, she is sporting a vivid pink lip colour and, for some strange reason, she’s several shades lighter than she was at her red carpet appearance earlier in the day.

Jennifer Lawrence In Chloé – 85th Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon

Jennifer Lawrence In Chloé - 85th Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon‘Silver Linings Playbook’ actress Jennifer Lawrence joined fellow Oscar nominees at the 85th Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon, hosted on Monday at The Beverly Hilton hotel in California.

After a few puzzling black and blue exits, I was really hoping that she would bring something inspiring to the luncheon table. This napkin-white, embossed Chloé Spring 2013 dress was not it.

The strapless midi, with its fair share of ruffled flip and flounce, was too nonchalant and breezy for the occasion. Plus, the fold-over bodice and the overall fit did nothing for me—or for Jennifer.

The heft of a substantial pair of Casadei pumps was even more baffling. Those black heels didn’t belong anywhere near this dress.

She also debuted different styling that included half-up, half-down hair and sultrier-than-normal makeup with a liberal application of bronzer, a smokey eye and plump nude lip.

There was a brief silver lining (no pun intended) in Jennifer’s fashion repertoire with the canary yellow Emilio Pucci she wore last week. Hopefully it returns, as I cannot wait for film’s “it” girl to get back on fashion girl territory, too.

Jennifer Lawrence In Stella McCartney – 28th Santa Barbara Film Festival Outstanding Performer Of The Year Award Ceremony

Jennfier Lawrence In Stella McCartney - 28th Santa Barbara Film Festival Outstanding Performer Of The Year Award CeremonyCollecting yet another prize for her shelf, Jennifer Lawrence was honored last night with the Outstanding Performer of Year Award at the 28th Santa Barbara Film Festival, hosted at the Arlington Theatre in California.

The ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ actress continued her blue period from the 2013 SAG Awards with this midnight-navy satin jumpsuit.

But what was so shocking was not the look’s casual edginess or its nod to androgyny, but that this Christian Dior darling debuted another designer for the red carpet, strutting out a pick from Stella McCartney’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection.

Her sporty, gown-skipping gumption is applaudable, although I wish the strapless, sculpted top hadn’t lopped over on one side.

With her hands in pockets, sans clutch, and not a glimpse of jewels to be found, a nondescript Casadei black pump was the only accessory to this ensemble.

Jennifer’s beauty was ironically similar to the designer’s lookbook styling, with messy ombre waves and nude makeup. But it all translated as a bit lackluster; more polish would have been nice to add some glam to this one-piece.

Does this jumpsuit make you jump for joy?

Jennifer Lawrence In Emilio Pucci – Jimmy Kimmel Live

Jennifer Lawrence In Emilio Pucci - Jimmy Kimmel Live

Jennifer Lawrence made a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday to promote ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ and to talk about her SAG Awards win and her Dior dress malfunction whilst collecting said award.

Lighting up a dark night in Hollywood, the actress wore an Emilio Pucci Resort 2013 mango-yellow frock.

Considering Jennifer’s love for all things black and blue recently, I’m delighted to see her wear such a mouth-watering bold hue.

Her sleeveless figure-hugging dress, with a central slit and subtle peplum detail, was styled with vertiginous studded heels with a bow accent.

Jennifer Lawrence’s Modern Side-Swept Waves

SAG Awards Hair

The forties influence was still very much in evidence at the Screen Actors Guild Awards over the weekend. But while Jessica Chastain (aka Jessica Rabbit), Naomi Watts and Naya Rivera stuck to a conventional Veronica Lake side-parting with loose waves,  Amanda Seyfried, Julianne Moore and Jennifer Lawrence added a twist to the look, pinning one side of the hair back completely.

Stylist Mark Townsend, whose clients include all of the Olsen sisters, Nicole Richie and Lea Michele, talked to us about how he achieved Jennifer Lawrence’s red carpet style for the event.

‘For the Screen Actors Guild Awards I was inspired by old Hollywood glamour, so I wanted Jennifer’s hair to show that influence and inspiration,’ Mark said. ‘But I wanted it to be young and very modern as well.’

‘To get her side swept waves, I started by applying a nickel-sized amount of Dove Color Care Leave On Conditioner into Jennifer’s damp hair – she’s colored her hair so much lately so her hair needs added moisture and protection.’

‘Next, I loaded her hair with the Dove Style+Care Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse and blow dried with a large round brush. To give her hair a loose wave, I wrapped sections of hair varying from 2 to 5 inches around a 1 1/4 inch curling iron, leaving the ends out.’

‘I took a small amount of Dove Frizz-Free Shine Cream-Serum in my hands, rubbed my hands together and then raked my fingers through the waves to break them up and give the hair amazing shine, then took the hair from the right side, twisted it and then pinned it in the back with a few bobby pins.

‘To give the hair a cool, lived-in texture, I sprayed Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray from mid-length to ends and scrunched with my hands. I finished by spraying Dove Strength & Shine Extra Hold Hairspray liberally all over to keep her hair in place all night and give the hair even more shine.’

It will be interesting to see how this red carpet trend evolves this month with the BATFA’s, Grammy’s and Academy Awards still to go.
