Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Jennifer Hudson attended a fundraiser for President Barack Obama at the Aragon Ballroom in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois yesterday.

The fundraiser doubled up as his 50th birthday celebration, so Jennifer led the crowd in singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to the president.

She also performed some other songs including the Beatles‘ classic ‘Let It Be’, wearing a Maria Lucia Hohan LBD.

The delicate dress with gold shoulder straps and a gold belt was paired with Miu Miu crystal-heel suede pumps which have a sliver heel and silver platform.

I’m not a fan of mixing metals, so I wish she opted for a different pair of heels.

The dress however is outstanding.

It’s nice to see her wearing a different silhouette.

Jennifer Hudson performed at the 12th Annual Art for Life benefit on Saturday, which was held at a Private Residence in East Hampton, New York.

She was spotted backstage looking beautiful wearing a Lela Rose cotton-threaded tulle dress from the Fall 2011 collection.

Her dress has been modified as the skirt under the cotton thread overlay has been shortened to make more of an impact as a performance piece.

I adore her Christian Louboutin Maggie leopard print pumps, but they don’t work for me with her beige tulle cap sleeve dress.

My only other compliant is that the dress appears to be too tight around the bust.

Jennifer Hudson proved that she can wear more than just fitted dresses with two show-stopping performances on morning shows in New York City recently.

Both were black and white Givenchy looks.

On ABC’s “Good Morning America” at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, the singer performed wearing a Givenchy white silk georgette blouse with black lace detail.

She paired the blouse with a leather trimmed black knit Givenchy skirt.

A few days later on CBS’s “The Early Show” at Studio Plaza her second Givenchy performance dress had a white embroidered top with a black mini skirt.

Both looks were paired with red heels.

I love the first look. Chic and sassy at the same time, plus I prefer her hairstyle.

Which was your favourite?

Jennifer Hudson took to the red carpet last night for the 2nd Annual amfAR Inspiration Gala in New York City.

The singer opted to wear a Michael Kors Resort 2012 dress.

I know many of you are screaming for her to wear a different style of dress which isn’t fitted, but I think this long sleeve white dress look amazing on her.

Her weight loss (and maintenance) is both an amazing and inspiring achievement, so I say continue to work it girl.

Plum suede mirrored platform sandals from the Michael Kors Fall 2011 collection and some amazing diamond encrusted jewels completed her look.

Last month, Brooklyn Decker turned heads when she donned this blush-coloured obi-seamed fitted dress from Victoria Beckham’s Spring 2011 collection to the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Showing off a shorter, sleeker hairstyle, Brooklyn went from sexy ‘Sports Illustrated’ model to sophisticated red carpet starlet in an instant.

The dress looks like it was tailored to drape solely over her curves as it fits her perfectly.

She must have known how big of an impact it would make as she chose to keep the rest of her accessories to a minimum.

Pointy-toed Stella McCartney heels, fresh makeup and deep red nail polish completed her look.

Jennifer Hudson wore the same dress to the 2nd Annual Mary J. Blige Honors Concert in New York recently.

The dress definitely looks amazing on her newly slimmed figure. She paired the dress with some impressive diamond jewelery, but I’m more focused on her gorgeous hair and flawless makeup. She looks incredibly glamourous.

The one thing that is ruining this look for me is her shoe choice.

Jennifer wore Christian Louboutin Zipito suede peep-toe ankle boots. I don’t think they suit the style of the dress. They would have been more appropriate with an edgier outfit.

Brooklyn takes the lead on this one for me.

You’ll be pleased to discover that Jennifer Hudson didn’t wear a fitted dress to the 2011 Met Gala in New York City last night.

She looked beautiful wearing a custom Vera Wang ballgown.

The smoke grey tissue organza strapless ballgown has a pleated bodice and a draped organza skirt with ivory tulle rosettes.

Jennifer wore half her hair up and half down with a nude subtle lip shade and Fred Leighton jewels completing her look.
