Red Carpet Fashion Awards

January Jones looks awesome on the cover of W Magazine’s May 2011 issue.

I love that she’s opted for a more edgy shoot which was captured by Craig McDean and styled by Lori Goldstein.

In the editorial of all black looks, the ‘Mad Men’ actress wears Celine, Michael Kors, Giorgio Armani, Versace and Calvin Klein.

She talks about ‘Betty Draper’, her role as ‘Emma Frost’ in ‘X-Men: First Class’ (out in June) and getting starstruck around football players.

Here are some extracts from her interview.

The magazine comes out April 19, but you can read more over at wmag.com.

On the thought of getting marriage proposals at Comic-Con: “That’s perfect! Comic-Con is mostly male, and I don’t really have that audience. And, I’m really like a guy in a lot of ways. My screen saver is a picture of me with [NFL stars] Eli and Peyton Manning taken at the Kentucky Derby. The most starstruck I get is around football players.” Read more…

January Jones didn’t attend the Oscars nor the after parties, but she was spotted arriving at the Chanel and Charles Finch Pre-Oscar Dinner celebrating fashion and film, held at Madeo Restaurant in LA the day before the big event.

She wore a Chanel Resort 2011 black leather & black sequin tweed embroidered dress with Chanel Fine jewelry.

I would say her look was perfect sans the 80s cropped denim jacket and the ankle boots.

I always want to love what January wears, but I seem to always find one element which lets her down and it’s usually her footwear choices.

January Jones walked the red carpet in LA tonight for the Premiere of her latest movie, “Unknown.”

I was really surprised to see her wearing Alexander McQueen, but I like the change in direction.

Her McQueen Pre-Fall 2011 navy strapless dress has a gold embroidered detail in the bodice and gold military buttons cascading down the asymmetrical skirt.

Whilst I love the dress the navy part of the dress around the bust need to be adjusted to have the same smooth line like the runway.

I saw these quadruple stacked Christian Louboutin heels in Barney’s the other day and they look impossible to walk in and I don’t find them particularly attractive.

I wish she went head-to-toe runway because those runway heels are awesome.

Love the hair.

Most Refreshing Award
I was quite relieved when I saw that January Jones wasn’t wearing Versace on the red carpet at the 2011 SAG Awards.

I’ve always believed that most of her Versace looks have totally overwhelmed her, so this is a refreshing change.

She opted for a black and gold lace Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2011 mermaid gown which I really loved on her.

Her look has an old Hollywood vintage regal feel to it which I feel like she’s deliberately avoided giving us so we don’t compare her to ‘Betty Draper.’

On this occasion the hair works with the dress, so she gets a thumbs up from me for the first time in a very long time.

Here we have two girls who really love to wear Versace on the red carpet.

January – who is the face of Versace’s Spring 2011 accessories collection – wore her Versace black dress from the Spring 2011 collection to the Central Saint Martins 20:20 Fashion Fund launch party in London back in November.

With a neat tight bun the “Mad Men” actress wore her sexy sleek LBD with black pumps.

Cheryl wore the same dress to the National Television Awards which was held at The O2 in London.

The X Factor judge added warm pops of red to her look via her red Christian Louboutin ‘Big Lips’ pumps and bold red lips.

I do like the look on Cheryl, but I wish she’d saved it for a TV appearance and dressed up more for this occasion.

I was going to give this win to Cheryl for not going head to toe black, but then I saw the back of the dress and I almost died.

January wins for me.

Should’ve Worn The Blue/Worst Shoes Award
January Jones was of course wearing Versace on the red carpet at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards.

She wore a Versace Spring 2011 gown of red fringes with a deep V cut out neckline.

The ‘Mad Men’ actress accessorized the look with black Versace patent leather pumps and a black satin Versace clutch.

I really wish she’d worn the blue version, because we’ve seen her wearing a Versace red fringed number when she was front row at the Versace Spring 2011 show.

On TV this dress looked breath-taking, but in these pictures she looks a tad too busty for the dress.
