Janelle Monae In Carolina Herrera – 2017 Producers Guild Awards

Seeing Janelle Monae’s stratospheric rise in the past few months has been truly inspiring. And all done without comprising herself or her style.

At the 2017 Producers Guild Awards on Saturday (January 28) in Beverly Hills, California, she was of course decked out in black and white.

I love how the Carolina Herrera Spring 2017 design is fairly minimal, but the look is amplified with stripes for dramatic appeal.

Emerald jewels and a Roger Vivier clutch completed her look.

Wouldn’t be funny if she wears black and white throughout awards season, then wears a colour like pink or yellow to the Oscars?

Janelle Monae In Chanel – 2017 SAG Awards

Janelle Monae attended the 2017 SAG Awards in LA on Sunday (January 29).

A double nominee for her work in both Moonlight, and Hidden Figures, wore a sleeveless ankle-length gown from the Chanel Pre-Fall 2017 collection.

Janelle has always been a fashion risk taker, but this look is a bit of letdown.

Her signature colours of black and white look more like gray here, and the floral accoutrements around her neck should have been removed in order to create a more flattering neckline.

Janelle Monae In Armani Prive & Georges Chakra – 2017 Golden Globe Awards

Janelle Monae attended her first Golden Globe Awards on January 8 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in California. And the singer-actress made sure to make a splash on the red carpet.

Golden Globe Awards: By now, we can eagerly anticipate the ‘Moonlight’ star’s black-and-white uniform, but her custom Armani Prive design had nothing standard, or predictable, about it. The spirited high-low gown was nothing if not fun, speckled in black polka dots caught in a flurry of netting surrounding the voluminous skirt. It was certainly one of a kind, just like Janelle. You might recognize those polka dots as inspired from Armani Prive’s Fall 2014 Couture show, where they first appeared.

Golden Globes Party: Keeping her pearl-studded beehive ’do, she changed into a sparkly, sequin Georges Chakra jumpsuit. The elongating, vertical black and white stripes made the petite star’s legs look a mile long.

2017 Image Maker Awards

Marie Claire’s Image Maker Awards 2017 were held at Catch LA on January 10, 2017 in West Hollywood, California, celebrating the makeup artists, hairstylists, and others behind Hollywood’s hottest beauties.

Jessica Pare: The actress worked a geometric Camilla and Marc Fall 2017 tunic-and-pants combo that prioritized casual comfort. I’m glad she brought a more exciting cherry lip stain out to play.

Janelle Monae: There is not a doubt that Janelle was having plenty of fun with her sparkly Thom Browne Spring 2017 ensemble that put a whole new meaning to tuxedo dress. I cannot say that I loved it—or her bobby pin-spiked hair, for that matter. But what I did love was her beautiful makeup, with the subtle blue under-eye shadow and glossy nude lip.

Jessica Alba: The cutouts in Jessica Alba’s suede Balmain jacket made all the difference in the world to elevate this Spring 2017 look.

2017 Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards Gala

The 28th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards Gala was held at the Palm Springs Convention Center on January 2, 2017 in Palm Springs, California, where a host of stars got the year started in style.

Kirsten Dunst: The actress glistening wearing a custom Ralph & Russo Couture gown, however, I had a craving for something to really make this look pop more—even brushing her hair back might have done the job to show off those statement earrings.

Ruth Negga: A newcomer on the scene, Ruth Negga had a princess moment in her whimsically embroidered Valentino Spring 2017 gown, which featured a fanciful innocence despite the sheer transparency factor.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ LA Premiere Red Carpet Roundup

‘Star Wars The Force Awakens’ LA Premiere Red Carpet Roundup

There were many more stars who attended the world premiere of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ on Monday (December 14) in Hollywood, California, joining Daisy Ridley, Lupita Nyong’o and Elizabeth Banks.

Gwendoline Christie: BAM. Now this how you rock up to a world premiere. While I’m longing for Gwendoline to wear a look outside her favoured gold, silver, neutral family, I’m memorized by the dramatic effect of this Oscar de la Renta gown.

Sofia Vergara: The actress wore a Victoria Beckham LBD you may remember we’ve seen on Amber Heard.  She styled the look with Charlotte Olympia gold pumps and a rather wonky version of Princess Leia’s signature hair buns.
