‘Southpaw’ New York Premiere Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

‘Southpaw’ New York Premiere Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Jake Gyllenhaal and 50 Cent joined Rachel McAdams and Naomie Harris on the red carpet for the New York premiere of ‘Southpaw’ at AMC Loews Lincoln Square on Monday (July 20) in New York City.

Jake Gyllenhaal: The actor was once again decked out in Tom Ford. Ushered in gentlemanly charcoal grey, this suit serves up sartorial excellence.

50 Cent: I have never been a fan of shiny suits on men, and this suit is a perfect example why. The fabric is both crinkled in several spots plus its causing static cling on the legs. This is such a shame because the forest green is such a great colour for him.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Ciara In Elie Saab, Ashley Madekwe In Self-Portrait, Jake Gyllenhaal In Tom Ford & Matt Bomer In Ermenegildo Zegna Couture

BDOTW 20 july

It would appear that the ESPYs were your best dressed event last week, as you selected supreme elegance of Ciara in Elie Saab and the suave sophistication of Jake Gyllenhaal in Tom Ford.

I was more enamoured by Ashley Madekwe in Self-Portrait and Matt Bomer In Ermenegildo Zegna Couture who both attended Comic-Con.

There were plenty of laidback looks at Comic-Con, but Ashley’s was oozing with chic finesse making her stand head-and-shoulders above the rest.

The suit and sneakers pairing isn’t always my favourite combination, but going sans tie helped Matt pull of this look.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Spanning the globe from London, Toronto and Rome, here is a roundup of some of the menswear look hitting the red carpet this week.

Chiwetel Ejiofor: I never watch TV during the day while working, accept during the Wimbledon Championships. I was left in swooning by how handsome Chiwetel Ejiofor looked while taking his seat for the Novak Djokovic v Richard Gasquet semi final match this afternoon. It’s not often we see the Chiwetel in a colour other than black, so this dark brown and blue combo courtesy of Ralph Lauren was a very special treat; possessing all the smoothness and finesse we expect from the British actor.

James Marsden: The actor, who has had some very special red carpet moments in Valentino, attended the Valentino ‘Mirabilia Romae’ Haute Couture show in Rome, Italy yesterday evening. Valentino’s sartorial standards continue to shine in this midnight blue suit decked with vertical pinstripes presenting a crisp, collected appearance.

Cannes Film Festival Menswear Roundup

Cannes Film Festival Menswear Roundup
It was hard to remove my gaze from the breathtaking gowns at on the first day, Wednesday (May 13), of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France, but a handful of menswear looks were worthy of mention.

Xavier Dolan: The French-Canadian actor cut a striking profile in his blue Louis Vuitton double-breasted suit paired with a black-and-white chequered sweater. It’s a perfect look for the Jury photocall, as it projects a coolly suave edge without even trying. You may remember that the suit was previously worn by Michiel Huisman.

John Legend: Attending the opening ceremony and premiere of ‘La Tete Haute,’ the singer couldn’t have looked more handsome in his traditional black Gucci tuxedo, making a solid argument for the power of a classic tux worn in superior fashion.

Jake Gyllenhaal: The actor was also at the opening ceremony and premiere and likewise catching plenty of stares for being well-dressed in a dark Tom Ford tuxedo and bow tie, even if I also like to see him in blues to bring out his steely stare.

2015 Golden Globes Menswear Roundup

The guys were none too shabby when it came to their sartorial selections at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards, held last night (January 11) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, boasting a range of looks that went way beyond the standard black tux.

Matt Bomer: The Best Supporting Actor winner for ‘The Normal Heart’ was dressed just as winningly in an impeccable Ralph Lauren Black Label navy shawl collar tuxedo that naturally brought out his own baby blues and was handsomely paired with a dark bowtie and crisp white button-down shirt.

Eddie Redmayne: Looking as sharp as ever, ‘The Theory of Everything’ Best Actor winner took a Euro-cool version of black velvet out for a spin, donning a Gucci notch-lapel, two-button New Signoria evening jacket with a white evening shirt, black satin bowtie, black tuxedo trousers and black patent leather lace-up shoes.

Alan Cumming
: Having quite the nude moment, ‘The Good Wife’ actor and nominee wore a buff wool, two-button peak lapel tuxedo, buff dress shirt and buff silk skinny tie from the Spring 2015 Calvin Klein Collection. Between the monochromatic buff-ness and the rolled pant legs, not to mention his Christian Louboutin ‘Mika On Stage’ sneakers, this look translated as more comical than cool.
