Vulture Festival Los Angeles Red Carpet Roundup

The Vulture Festival Los Angeles on Saturday (November 18) in Hollywood, California saw a few other stars in its midst along with Kerry Washington.

Bellamy Young: The ‘Scandal’ actress wore a charmingly ladylike Temperley London Resort 2018 printed dress with Marskinryyppy sandals. The off-the-shoulder silhouette and flared skirt were the sweet details that contributed just the right flair to the look.

Common: I like how Common wore the punchy paint splatters of his 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2018 jacket with more neutral, solid-hued shirting and trousers courtesy of J Brand. That, combined with his bold shoes, kept the look different enough from the same jacket we just saw on Caleb McLaughlin.

Issa Rae: Showing how great she looks in stripes, the actress let this bold Christopher Kane Resort 2018 carwash-panel dress take top billing by minimizing her accessories to a simple pair of Saint Laurent sandals.

Issa Rae In Nina Ricci & Brandon Maxwell – Conde Nast NextGen & HFPA and Instyle Celebration of the 2018 Golden Globe Awards

If Issa Rae’s woke up on Wednesday (November 15) with a quest for wearing gorgeous colours, she succeeded.

Conde Nast NextGen: I was totally charmed by her Nina Ricci Spring 2018 chic panelled design dress crafted from lace and leather. The colour is so complementary to her skin tone and the style is so uniquely flawless. Leather can often feel heavy and labored but this look appears lighter-than-air with some twirl appeal.

Issa Rae In Prabal Gurung – Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project

Issa Rae was at the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project LA County’s Politics, Sex, & Cocktails on Saturday (November 4) in LA.

From some angles, you might think this Prabal Gurung Spring 2018 exploded floral print dress to be quite modest.

Then, that slit-to-there splice comes into view.

I like how this look came together on her, as she balanced the flowy femininity and the sultrier sophistication, styling the look with sandals, John Hardy jewels and a braided hairstyle.

03.11.17 Premiere

End Of The Week Red Carpet Roundup

There were so many looks this week, that we’re going to cram them into this final post.

Josephine De La Baume: Attending the ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ world premiere, the French actress opted to infuse her red carpet style with high-voltage seduction courtesy of this Self-Portrait devore mini dress from the Fall 2017 collection. I’m not usually a big fan of platform shoes, but I find myself buying what she’s selling as these Miu Miu Mary Janes add a playful vibe.

Martha Hunt: I love the fashion forward feel of this Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh black cropped blazer and sequin dress from the Fall 2017 collection with simple black pumps. Worn to the World of Children Awards, this was a truly intriguing look I have to say.

Ajak Deng: This saffron yellow Roksanda ‘Tamiko’ jumpsuit from the Fall 2017 collection gave me so much joy at the ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ world premiere. I love the relaxed nature of it all with the chunky heels adding a utilitarian flavour.

Issa Rae In Diane von Furstenberg – Fast Company Innovation Festival

Issa Rae attended the Fast Company Innovation Festival with Cover Girl’s Ukonwa Ojo, to discuss ‘The Business Of Beauty and Transformation From The Inside Out’ on Monday (October 23) in New York City.

Ukonwa Ojo: The Senior Vice President of Cover Girl was looking radiant in her mustard-hue dress. I absolutely love the structure of the sleeves.

Issa Rae: Eye-popping colours, light-reflecting embellishment and abstract patterns which come together nicely on this midi dress from Diane von Furstenberg’s Fall 2017 collection. I absolutely adore and I love how she semi-coordinated with Ukonwa. You may remember that Kate Bosworth wore this same dress back in March.

Issa Rae In Vera Wang – 2017 Emmy Awards

Issa Rae looked radiant in red on the red carpet of the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday night (September 17) in Los Angeles.

The ‘Insecure’ creator and star wore a custom Vera Wang gown with diamond earrings and rings.

One thing I love about Issa is she always looks like she’s having so much fun on the red carpet. And that’s exactly what this gown is–fun. There are nods to so many current fashion trends: The cold shoulder, ruffles, and of course, the evergreen asymmetry.

I also love Issa’s braided updo and navy smokey eye.

Unfortunately, even with so many intriguing and unique elements, I’m afraid this gown won’t stand out in the crowd tonight.
