2015 Oscars Couples

2015 Oscars plus ones

This post is dedicated to those gorgeous plus-ones on Oscar night, who should never be left in the shade.

Sophie Hunter: The pregnant wife of Benedict Cumberbatch looked breathtaking in her custom Lanvin red one-shoulder gown with brass beading. The vivid colour was only heighted when she stood alongside Benedict in his stark white tuxedo blazer. While oozing femininity, her gold Lanvin accessories and drop earrings helped made this quite a strong, powerful look. She’s slowly becoming my favourite plus-one. Sorry, Camila Alves.

Hannah Bagshawe: The British couple both wore navy Alexander McQueen. Eddie Redmayne wore a Bespoke navy tuxedo with black velvet slippers to collect his Best actor awards, while she wore a navy chiffon embroidered gown with embellished feather belt styled with a gold McQueen ‘Clutch Me’ clutch.

Meryl Streep In Lanvin – 2015 Oscars

Meryl Streep In Lanvin - 2015 Oscars

Meryl Streep graced the red carpet on Sunday (February 22) at the 2015 Oscars, hosted at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

Dressed in custom Lanvin, Meryl was the epitome of chic and timeless in a tuxedo jacket, white blouse, and column skirt cinched at the waist with an art deco-inspired belt. I love that Meryl sticks to her own style at award ceremonies, and this year’s Oscars were no different.

Meryl accessorized with a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch, Jimmy Choo ‘Kuki’ shoes, and chandelier earrings.

This is a simple and to the point style for Hollywood’s biggest night. Do you love it, too?

Lady Gaga In Alaia – 2015 Oscars

Lady Gaga In Alaia - 2015 Oscars

Lady Gaga walked the red carpet on Sunday (February 22) at the 2015 Oscars, hosted at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

The singer, who was a performer at the Academy Awards, wore custom Alaia and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

While Lady Gaga’s white textured gown was pretty tame compared to her past over the top styles, the boxy, oversized dolman-like sleeved gown was dramatic for the Oscars red carpet.

I do like that Gaga went for a two-toned colour story with red accessories against the white gown–elbow-length red leather gloves and a red floral hair detail, and of course, red lipstick.

What are your feelings on Lady Gaga’s style?

Keira Knightley In Valentino Couture – 2015 Oscars

Keira Knightley In Valentino Couture - 2015 Oscars

Keira Knightley was also in attendance at the 2015 Oscars, held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (February 22) in Hollywood, California.

Following a familiar bohemian vibe, the actress’s Valentino Spring 2015 Couture confection was very much a Keira gown.

The smocked bodice and wispy layered chiffon skirt were whimsically embroidered with a garden of needlepoint floral and swooping, cursive phrases; it was a softly gracious silhouette for her burgeoning baby bump.

While she didn’t wear Chanel, she did style the look with Chanel Fine Jewelry, also crowning her wavy locks with an embellished headband.

At first I wasn’t drawn to the nude colouring against her alabaster skin, but the poetic, dream-like quality of the gown won me over.

Yay or nay?

Jennifer Hudson In Romona Keveza – 2015 Oscars

Jennifer Hudson looked lovely as she walked the red carpet of the 2015 Oscars at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday (February 22).

The Academy Award winner wore a strapless, butter yellow gown from the Romona Keveza Spring 2015 collection with Jimmy Choo ‘Minnie’ sandals.

The sleek lines of the gown and its half peplum and tiny accent belt are classic and chic, while the color adds a splash of fun to the simple silhouette.

The bold emerald and diamond earrings and cocktail ring are a lovely contrasting color, and offer the perfect stylistic dialogue with the gown.

Jennifer’s sleek hair, flawless skin and subtle makeup complete the look.
