Caitlin Fitzgerald In Emilia Wickstead - 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Caitlin Fitzgerald was all smiles at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (January 12).

The ‘Masters of Sex’ actress wore a powder blue dress from Emilia Wickstead Spring 2014 with blue and coral ankle strap pumps from Emilia Wickstead.

It’s fun to see Caitlin channeling her ‘Masters of Sex’ character with a 1950s-style silhouette. She makes a savvy choice by opting for relaxed hair and make-up, which keeps the look from veering too retro.

An Anya Hindmarch ‘Duke Shagreen’ clutch completed her look.

Lupita Nyong’o In Ralph Lauren – 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Lupita Nyong’o In Ralph Lauren - 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Lupita Nyong’o was a vision in red at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, hosted at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday (January 12).

The ’12 Years a Slave’ star and supporting actress nominee has also emerged as a new fashion ‘it’ girl, and she didn’t disappoint tonight.

Her off-the-shoulder Ralph Lauren red silk cady cape dress from the Spring 2014 runway had all the drama for which I had hoped—even though I couldn’t help but think of Gwyneth Paltrow’s similar Tom Ford white cape-dress wow moment at the 2012 Oscars.

A few well-placed Fred Leighton jewels, including sparkling stud earrings and cocktail rings, rounded out the look, as a necklace would have ruined the effect.

While I loved the metallic gold eye shadow and the subtle punch of a violet liner under her eyes, not to mention the classic red lip, the more questionable ‘Grace Jones’-inspired ’do also made a repeat appearance.

Did Lupita’s look live up to your expectations?

Margot Robbie In Gucci – 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Margot Robbie In Gucci - 2014 Golden Globes

Margot Robbie was one of the first stars down the red carpet of the 2014 Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles this evening (January 12).

The ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ actress wore a one-of-a-kind cream Gucci silk crepe gown with embroidered crystal and emerald gemstones.

This is such a ‘wow’ moment for the star. The plunging neckline and high slit are just the right amount of sexy, while the white is superbly chic, and the gem detailing is completely unique.

Green Christian Louboutin ‘Volpi’ sandals, rosy cheeks and lips plus a chic updo complete this stunning look.

Zooey Dechanel In Oscar de la Renta – 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Zooey Dechanel In Oscar de la Renta - 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Zooey Dechanel arrived at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 12) rocking her signature quirky-meets-girly style.

The ‘New Girl’ actress picked a pale gold look from Oscar de la Renta Spring 2014 comprised of a cropped, beaded, cap sleeve top paired with an embroidered, tulle ball skirt. She accessorised with studded Oscar de la Renta pumps, a Charlotte Olympia box clutch, and Neil Lane jewels.

Zooey added her touch of quirk with a messy side bun topped with flowers and daisy nail art.

As evidenced by the runway image of this look, the skirt looks better in motion than standing still, which isn’t ideal for a red carpet. But Zooey feels great in the outfit and it suits her personal style.

Aubrey Plaza In Oscar de la Renta – 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Aubrey Plaza In Oscar de la Renta - 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Aubrey Plaza was one of the first actresses to hit the red carpet at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles Sunday evening (January 12).

The ‘Parks and Recreations’ actress tends to favor neutrals but broke out of the box with a purple and pink satin, strapless gown from Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2014. She amped up the look with a hot pink clutch and a patterned, purple shoe.

Aubrey kept her hair and make-up fresh and clean, allowing the dress and its impeccable fit to shine.

It’s a refreshing pick for Aubrey and a great way to kick off the evening.

Golden Globes Beauty: Flushed With Success

Golden Globes Blush

Glowing, rosy cheeks rather than bronzer were the order of the evening as nervous stars paraded down the Golden Globes red carpet.

Julianne Moore, Kerry Washington, Emily Blunt and Jennifer Lawrence all played up the apples of their cheeks rather than contouring along the cheekbones, so opening up the face and imparting a fresher look.

For a naturally glowing cheek, the trick is to find a colour that matches your skin when you are flushed from exercise or being out in the cold. ‘The whole idea of putting colour on your cheeks is to mimic a healthy glow,’ says make up guru Laura Mercier

While a powder is typically better for oily skin and a cream formula is great for dry skin, for the best results Mercier recommends combining the two together: ‘It helps the blush stay on longer and looks more luminous,’ she says.

Start with a tinted moisturiser or primer rather than a foundation for a more natural look, then, using your ring and middle finger, blend a dab of cream blush onto the apple of you cheek – draw a line with your finger down directly beneath your iris to your cheekbone for the perfect spot. Blend and pat gently with a tissue to remove any excess.

Next, using a good make up brush, we like Laura Mercier’s Face Brush or Urban Decay’s Good Karma Blush Brush, apply a sweep of translucent powder like MAC Colour Ready Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder to set the cream formula.

Finally, place some powder blush on the apple of your cheek and gently blend up your cheekbone to the outer corner of the eye. When choosing a powder blush bear in mind that powders with shimmer are better for sallow skin, while matte blushes are ideal for eliminating shine and tend to stay put longer.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Host The Golden Globe Awards In L’Wren Scott & Stella McCartney

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Host The Golden Globe Awards In L'Wren Scott & Stella McCartney

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the 2013 Golden Globes on Sunday, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA.

They took to the red carpet wearing L’Wren Scott and Stella McCartney respectively and both wore the same designers while hosting the show.

Tina wore the same L’Wren Scott dress from the red carpet to host the show, later changing into a custom peacock-blue embroidered L’Wren Scott gown, which was her best look of the night – in fact, it was one of her best looks ever.

Amy hosted the show wearing a burgundy Stella McCartney gown with an embroidered belt from the designer’s Fall 2012 collection. This sexy frock featured a plunging neckline and three-quarter-length sleeves.

Her final look to close the show was a black sequin dress from Stella’s Spring 2013 collection. This halter keyhole dress wasn’t my favourite; it was a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen.
Amy kept the same hairstyle throughout the night, while her co-host Tina, opted for three different looks.

I was delighted to see both women step things up in the style stakes, as we know they often find themselves on the worst-dressed lists.
