Goya Toledo In Carolina Herrera – 2018 Goya Awards

As Spanish actress Goya Toledo favours Elie Saab for the red carpet, I would have most expected her to wear the designer for the 2018 Goya Awards on Saturday (February 3) in Madrid, Spain.

Instead, she looked to Carolina Herrera’s Resort 2018 collection for inspiration—and a ball gown that delivered no shortage of drama, just not of the embellished kind.

The tulle tiers are what give the frock a playful girlishness, but the sleek bodice and black-and-white palette lend sophistication, as well.

I like her complementary soft waves here, too, to echo the fun femininity of the look.

You may remember this striking piece, as Mandy Moore wore it at the 2017 Emmy Awards.

23rd Jose Maria Forque Awards

The 23rd edition of the Jose Maria Forque Awards were held on Saturday (January 13) in Zaragoza, Spain, where the dress code was quite varied among its attendees.

Goya Toledo: Wearing her favoured designer, Elie Saab, Goya relied on the intricate embroidery of the bodice to add a sense of glamour to the gown that was quite neutral in colour. Embellished accessories attempted to add a sense of sparkle to the look, but she could have done without the ribbon choker. We expect her to wear Elie Saab at the Goya Awards on February 3, so I am looking forward to what she brings to the red carpet there.

Juana Acosta: Even though we’ve seen Tilda Swinton rock this Chanel Fall 2017 jumpsuit, I didn’t mind its second showing here. Opting for a girly-chic approach, she styled the classic-cool piece with a ribbon ponytail whilst celebrating its cropped proportions that showed off her Jimmy Choo sandals.

Dafne Fernandez: I wanted to like this Fernando Claro suit, but it was missing some of the polished structure that makes these menswear-inspired looks so sleek and smart. The taupe colour was also a bit bland, especially with her shoe choice. Not even the brassy Jimmy Choo clutch could enliven it.

Goya Toledo In Andrew Gn – ‘El Desconocido’ Venice Film Festival Photocall

Goya Toledo In Andrew Gn - 'El Desconocido' Venice Film Festival Photocall

Goya Toledo attended the ‘El Desconocido’ photocall that was held during the 2015 Venice Film Festival on Wednesday (September 2) in Venice, Italy.

The comb-over ’do was still present and accounted for, but she did change up her choice of designer, this time going from her love of all things Elie Saab to a look from the Andrew Gn Resort 2014 collection.

The gown fits her like a glove, balancing the minimalistic sleekness of the dark skirt with the vibrancy of the coral-like embroidery at the bodice.

But despite its loveliness, I’m still distracted by her hair. Are you?

2015 Malaga Film Festival Closing Ceremony

2015 Malaga Spanish Film Festival Closing Ceremony

The 2015 Malaga Spanish Film Festival closing ceremony took place at the Cervantes Theatre on Saturday (April 25) in Malaga, Spain.

Juana Acosta: The Columbian beauty looked sensational wearing one of her favourite designers, Oscar de la Renta, selecting a decadent dress which hits all the high points of Oscar de la Renta’s signature feminine polish. The high/low hemline adds to the charming summery effect, with green Aquazzura sandals perfecting the look.

Goya Toledo: The Spanish beauty serves up no surprises here, wearing an Elie Saab gown. I am, however, surprised that the look feels so fall-like, but the actress is not lacking in the sophistication and elegance department, so the look is more than worthy of the occasion.

Goya Toledo In Dolce & Gabbana – Fotogramas Awards

Goya Toledo In Dolce & Gabbana - Fotogramas Awards

Goya Toledo attended the Fotogramas Awards ceremony held at Joy Eslava on Monday (March 2) in Madrid, Spain.

Known for her love of all things Elie Saab, the actress opted for a different designer on this rare occasion, wearing Dolce & Gabbana.

Her ruched strapless dress, lavishly decorated with the brand’s signature carnations – a favourite of Domenico Dolce’s mother – had plenty of flamenco spirit infused by the ruffles enlivening the skirt.

A gold choker would’ve been my choice to take this down a more directional route, but Goya’s cuff and opulent gold earrings serve this exotic piece just as well.

Goya Toledo In Elie Saab Couture – 2015 Goya Awards

Goya Toledo In Elie Saab Couture - 2015 Goya Awards

Goya Toledo attended the 2015 Goya Awards held at Centro de Congresos Principe Felipe on Saturday (February 7) in Madrid, Spain.

There is one thing that is 100% guaranteed and that is Goya will wear an Elie Saab gown to an event, and that run didn’t end on Saturday night.

The Spring 2014 Couture gown was classic Elie Saab: embellished, elegant, bringing an air of grace unrivalled by most.

I love the dramatic nature of the piece, which evoked a brewing storm cloud at the ombre hemline.
