Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Here are some more looks from the 7th Annual Chanel Tribeca Film Festival Artists Dinner held at The Odeon in New York City last night.

Giovanna Battaglia: The contributing fashion editor to W magazine becomes the first person to wear a look from the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012 collection. Whilst I love her cherub print dress and I love the embroidered floral boots, but I’m not crazy about them together. There is just too much going on especially when you factor in the array of colourful bangles, gold leaf headband and the white tassel bag.

Alexa Chung: Chanel’s favourite Brit girl was of course in attendance. Opting for a black velvet sleeveless mini dress with black tights, a black Chanel quilted bag and black open toe sandals, I couldn’t be more bored.

Liv Tyler: The actress lifts me from my Alexa boredom slump by opting for a Chanel colourful printed maxi dress. I would’ve loved to have seen the dress without the long ivory Chanel coat.

Naomi Watts: Like most of the other attendees, Naomi was in head-to-toe Chanel. I just wish the look was a lot more interesting.

Giovanna Battaglia attended a luncheon in honour of ‘The Artist’ hosted by Harvey Weinstein, Diane von Furstenberg and George Stevens Jr. this week.

The L’Uomo Vogue editor and freelance stylist wore a Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2011 dress.

Her gorgeous ‘Elsey Bis jewel’ dress was teamed with black patent toe-cap knee-high boots and a black cardigan.

I love the beautiful multi-coloured embellishments; this really is a stand-out look despite being mostly black.

A silver link necklace and a black clutch completed her look.

Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld and Giovanna Battaglia attended Carter Cleveland, Wendi Murdoch And Dasha Zhukova’s party at the Soho Beach House in Miami, Florida late last week.

The L’Uomo Vogue editor and freelance stylist wore a Givenchy Resort 2012 dress.

If this dress was to ever hit the red carpet it would most definitely be lined, but the daring fashionista opted to wear look as Riccardo Tisci intended it to be worn.

A nude bodysuit with purple sequin floral appliqués has a sheer overlay which is also decorated with purple sequins.

You can only really get away with this type of look at an event hosted and attended by like-minded fashion folks and if you have a rockin’ body, so Giovanna is free and clear on all counts.

She added a khaki blazer which is undoing all the good work of the Givenchy dress, but she did wear the same sequin peep-toe ankle boots as the model.

Giovanna Battaglia attended the Dior pop-up shop featuring Anselm Reyle for Dior at Miami Design District in Miami City on Tuesday night.

The L’Uomo Vogue editor and freelance stylist is just the latest fashionista to step out in one of Antonio Berardi’s designs, wearing a mint dress with silver and emerald colour-blocking detail from the designer’s Spring 2012 collection.

While the runway model sported an emerald clutch and shoes to highlight the dress’ bright waist accent, we prefer Giovanna’s editorial styling.

The minimal makeup, undone hair, glittery silver pumps, a wristful of bracelets and statement necklace actually make the look more stylish, rather than cheapening it.

Which do you prefer – the matchy-matchy runway look or Giovanna’s editorial styling?

During Milan Fashion Week I spotted Giovanna Battaglia outside the Gucci Fall 2011 presentation wearing this gorgeous No.21 Spring 2011 printed blouse with matching cropped pants.

I loved the look, and it seems like the freelance stylist for W Magazine can’t get enough of the look either.

Giovanna has gone on to wear this several times; most recently last night at the Bottega Veneta fragrance launch party in New York City.

On these two occasions she’s opted pair her look with colourful heels.

Orange and gold Prada sandals worked in Milan. Purple and gold Fendi heels were the preferred choice for last night.

Both perfectly complement her look.

This month’s Style Spotlight falls on Giovanna Battaglia.

The Italian born former Dolce & Gabanna model, is the fashion editor of L’Uomo Vogue and also works as a freelance stylist.

During Fashion Week she’s one of those effortless stylish women sitting in the front row.

She has over 3,300 people lusting over her style on Facebook, and style bloggers like Scott Schuman, Garance Dore, Tommy Ton love her too.

What I also love about her is that she’s not just a clothes horse. She had plenty of character and mounds of personality.

Giovanna’s style is elegant and classic, but she does do edgy from time to time.

She’s not afraid to repeat a look like Anna and Victoria Beckham.

But like VB, I much prefer Giovanna’s street style to her red carpet style. Read more…
