Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Anne Hathaway’s white asymmetrical ruched Valentino dress is gorgeous from every angle. She looks outstanding.

After a so so awards season, this sees her return to her best.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore a black strapless Valentino dress, she has worn before back in 2003.

The dress is a fit for the occasion, but I am not wowed by it. Her hair and make-up is impeccable as always, and she completes her look with a stunning Chopard bracelet.

Claire Danes pistachio green Valentino Spring 2008 Couture cap sleeved dress makes her stand out, as this is the most sophisticated dress at the event.

It almost feels too sophisticated, but I would take more over less any day.

Selita Ebanks sure knows how to stand out in a crowd. The model arrived at this premiere, working the hell out of this Balmain Fall 2008 mini dress.

Talk about jaw dropping.

The very LBD has a lace overlay and stunning embellished details on the bust, shoulders and skirt. The sex appeal is amped up with zippers going across the body.

I am always grateful to Tinsley Mortimer for adding a burst of colour onto the red carpet.

If you are wondering were those colourful clutches she is always carrying are from, they’re self designed for her Samantha Thavasa range.

This particular apple green clutch, matches the green straps on her snake print Jimmy Choo Corsica strappy sandals.

Even a simple white shirt dress becomes a hot look for Padma Lakshmi.

I don’t think I have ever seen Agyness Deyn so muted.

The model wore a black velvet Marc Jacobs Fall 2008 hooded dress. I think this is one of two pieces that ever made the red carpet, from that very questionable collection.

I think Lake Bell’s expression says it all. Bad choice of dress.

Coco Rocha seems to be opting for a softer look these days, since she took on presenting duties for Style.com. Last night she wore a Jason Wu Fall 2009 ensemble.

The wine sweater, printed skirt combo, with a statement necklace is beyond fabulous.

Daphne Guinness looks a little startled.

Is it because someone informed the Guinness heiress that she is wearing the same Gareth Pugh Spring 2009 dress which Beyonce wore to the MTV Europe Music Awards?

Her look is complete with Christian Louboutin platformed Mary Janes, and a black Azzedine Alaia belt.

Georgina Chapman wore a black sequined and feathered Marchesa Fall 2008 dress, under a gold and black fur trimmed coat.

Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman, is a great advert for her brand.

She wore this midnight blue Marchesa jeweled Grecian gown, when she attended the Metropolitan Opera’s 125th season opening night gala in New York during September.

Her asymmetrical gown has with a silver embellished trim, and a draped overlay. She complimented her gown perfectly with silver accessories.

You can purchase this gorgeous gown from Net-A-Porter’s US site for $4,840, or the international site £3,602/€4,795.

Taylor Momsen recently had a dramatic hair cut, and although the cut look great, it’s not quite working with her beautiful red pleated layered strapless Marchesa Fall 2008 gown, which has rosette details on the bodice.

The teenager compliments her stunning gown, with ruby red lips.

God this woman gets more and more beautiful every time I see her.

Georgina Chapman, the perfect brand ambassador for her collection, wore a midnight blue Marchesa Resort 2009 asymmetric gown, with stunning jeweled detail.

With her hair pulled back, we are able to see her very expensive earrings, which compliment her gown.

Helena Christensen wowed in a more dramatic way, wearing a spectacular peachy gown, with a long train, and stunning jeweled clutch.

The colour is so buttery against her olive skin.

Molly Sims is another model who makes looking stunning on the red carpet very easy.

Molly wore an ivory mermaid J.Mendel gown, with tiny embellishments on the bodice, to give her a very ethereal look.

Parker Posey wore a pink and pink Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2008 dress, which I love, but I wish she would have ditched the furry bag for her photo op.

Christie Brinkley with her trademark megawatt smile, wore a black taffeta strapless Ralph Lauren dress with a tiered skirt with feathers at the top tier .

Designer Tory Burch wore an olive Lanvin Pre-Fall 2008 Grecian gown, with a black velvet contrasting bow.

If there was a picture to depict redemption, this would be it.

Since crossing the pond, Victoria’s red carpet moments have not been showing her at her best.

Off the red carpet, not many can match her in the style department, but let’s face it Victoria Beckham’s Costume Institute Gala make-up and hair were a mess, and not many liked her peek-a-boo Marc Jacobs dress on the Victoria Secrets pink carpet.

This one-shouldered Marc Jacobs mini dress on the other hand is stunning.

We have seen ruffles on many red carpets recently, but Marc Jacobs gives this dress a twist with heart-shaped ruffles.

Her hair slicked back makes a nice change, and her foundation, this time is a close match the rest of her skin-tone.

10 out of 10 Mrs B.

Fellow Brit Naomi Campbell, the face of YSL Fall 2008, wore a YSL Fall 2008 ensemble including a black sheer shirt and black sequined jodhpur-style, billowing pants which narrowed at the ankle.

Looks like she has managed to sort out her hair issues, with a brand new weave.

Ashley Olsen is wearing a mannish Calvin Klein Resort 2009 tux, but manages to still look very feminine.

You feel that this ensemble is very much a homage to the late Yves Saint Laurent and his Le Smoking Tuxedo.

Wow, Hilary Duff is dazzling in this purple sequined Michael Kors tank dress.

I love the updo, the length of the dress, the snake-skin shoes and the stunning earrings.

Faultless.

Eva Mendes may be wearing just a plain white Calvin Klein Resort 2008 dress, but I love the detail on the bodice, which narrows at the waist, giving her a sleek silhouette.

Her jewelery is by Van Cleef & Arpels.

Eva Longoria disappoints big style.

You can usually rely on Eva to look fantastic on the red carpet, so this is a shock.

Her hair looks a big ragged. Not at all in the manor of her usual sleek styles.

The JLo eye make-up is not the right shade for her skin-tone, nor does it compliment her dress, and think this was the intention.

The Diane von Furstenberg dress has overly enhanced her, giving her a very cheap Pamela Anderson type look.

Only her clutch and her shoes survived this disaster.

Maggie Gyllenhaal was on presenting duties for the night.

Like many of the A list fashion pack, she is wearing an ensemble that has not even been uploaded on to Style.com yet, such is it newness.

She is wearing a green-and-black sheer tunic, embellished with sequins, and silk pants from the Proenza Schouler Resort 2009 collection.

Paula Patton looks so pretty with her side-swept bangs, wearing a one-shouldered belted black white and grey Michael Kors Spring 2008 floral gown.

This look is a very clean, simple and dainty look for Mandy Moore, which I love, as it suits her so well.

The white piping on her Abaeté gown prevents it from looking stale.

Famke Janssen oozes glamour in this white David Meister Fall 2008 one sleeved jersey cocktail dress. She compliments her dress with silver accessories.

Kim Cattrall who presented Tom Ford with the Menswear Designer of the Year Award, wore a dress that would have been perfect for one of her Sex And The City premieres.

This asymmetric navy Monique Lhuillier Fall 2008 gown with an embellished shoulder, has got to be one of the best looks I have ever seen on her.

Anna Wintour is as elegant and sophisticated as ever, in beige lace sheath dress with gold sequined embellishments and her trademark bob.

Amy Poehler wore a navy poppy floral demi-sheer Marc Jacobs Spring 2008 dress. The low U-neckline adds a little sex appeal.

Lipstick Jungle actress Kim Raver is also wearing Marc Jacobs Spring 2008.

Her dress shows off Marc Jacobs eccentricities, with 4 different pieces of fabric put together to make this uniquely beautiful dress. This collection seems to work better off the runway.

Kim compliment her dress with nude pumps, and a bag also from the Spring 2008 collection.

Actress Lauren Hutton is divine in this silk slate grey Calvin Klein Spring 2008 jumpsuit.

For the first time, in a longtime, I am not offended by Lil Kim. In fact I quite like this keyhole purple hearted Marc Jacobs mini dress. Even the make-up is not too brash.

Has she turned a corner? I doubt it, but it will fun to see what she wears next.

Georgina Chapman stunning as ever in her own Marchesa Fall 2008 design.

Carolina Herrera is breath-taking in this ice white tuxedo she designed. Her white satin shoes compliment her white satin lapels.

Caroline received of the Geoffrey Bean Lifetime Achievement Award.

Diane von Furstenberg showed her respect by decided against the dress she originally wanted to wear to choose this navy vintage YSL tuxedo.

Donna Karan wore this red haltered top from her own collection.

Tory Burch the Accessory Designer Of The Year winner, wore a pink dress from her own collection.

Vera Wang is of course in her own Fall 2008 creation.

Finally someone had the cahones to wear the Dolce & Gabbana organza fantasy ball gowns.

I was hoping that Sarah Jessica Parker would have worn the green one to the Sex And The City New York Premiere next week, but I will have to make do with Rose Mcgowan.

She totally rocked this stunning gown. It is just a beautiful as I imagined it off the runway.

French Vogue Editor-in-Chief Carine Roitfeld and her daughter Julia Restoin-Roitfeld leave me breathless in their stunning dresses.

Carine is wearing a red hot one-shouldered animal print Balmain Fall 2008 dress with a slit to the thigh and metallic detailing on the hip.

Julia also wears a dress from the Balmain Fall 2008 collection.

Her dress is equally as sexy as her mothers, but shorter. Her black dress is also one-shouldered, with lace detail at the hem and on the hip. She also wore her beloved black YSL tribute platform sandals, which she also wore yesterday.

Natalie Portman has obviously gotten wind of the fact that many people – not me – were tiring of her wearing Lanvin, so she opted for this beautifully structured Givenchy Spring 2008 Couture dress.

She needs to be careful not to cut herself on those spikes.

Model Natalia Vodianova wore a gold strapless Valentino Spring 2008 Couture gown with a tiered embellished skirt.

Elsa Pataki wears the same Alberta Ferretti dress which Bar Refaeli wore last Wednesday last week.

What a faux pa.

There is no greater ambassador for Marchesa than the designer Georgina Chapman.

Tonight she arrived in this very dramatic silk tulle Marchesa Spring 2008 ball gown with gold embroidered leaf appliqué.

She wore her dress with Christian Louboutin Coxinelle T-bar pumps.

STUNNING.

Petra Nemcova also wore a Marchesa Spring 2008 gown.

Her white strapless gown was much less dramatic, but equally as beautiful.

Couture Queen Dita von Teese is exquisite in this violet Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2007 Couture chiffon military-esqe gown.

The dress has badges of honour as embellishments and beaded epaulets.

Oh so cute.

Margherita Missoni looks stunning with her hair tied back, in this sweetheart neck-lined Missoni Spring 2008 strapless multi-coloured printed gown.

I love this coral coloured strapless Marchesa gown on Mary J. Blige. She is not afraid of colour, and it shows.

The embroidery on the gown is outstanding.

Joely Richardson shows off her lean figure in this stripey Ralph Lauren Spring 2008 gown, with long satin opera gloves for added dramatic effect.

Tamara Mellon usually sticks to black white and navy, so I am glad during Cannes she is wearing more colours.

This strapless bandeau dress is from the Balmain Spring 2008 collection, and is ultra feminine. I really love the wing embroidered detail.

Michelle Yeoh is wearing this very summery Roberto Cavalli Fall 2008 A-line dress with flowered embroidery.

You wouldn’t expect a dress like this to be part of a Fall collection.

Donatella Versace is stunning as ever in her own designs. The colour is gorgeous and dress fits like a glove.

This dress has the same lattice detail we have seen on a few other dresses, during this Film Festival.

Sharon Stone LOVES animal print. On most occasions she looks tacky, but not tonight.

For once she works it well. The jeweled detail on his halter-neck Roberto Cavalli dress is what I think stops it from heading down to tackyville.

Madonna is much less dramatic tonight in her coral satin pussy-bow dress with nude heels.

The pussy-bow dress is a preview of what we will see during on Stella McCartney’s Spring 2009 runway. Yes 4 months from now.

Now that is what you call star power.

Actress Aissa Maiga is wearing this Christian Dior Fall 2007 hip embellished dress, which despite being a few seasons old it looks like it’s from a recent Spring collection in white.

Not many have dared to wear the crazy designs from Marc Jacobs Louis Vuitton Spring 2008 collection.

Milla Jovovich dared to, and looks fabulous.

Coral appears to be the colour of the night.

Diane Kruger is simple elegant in her 20s inspired silver embroidered Chanel Haute Couture gown with her marcel waves.

I love how she is holding her delicate train.

Eva Herzigova opted for a simple black strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown, which covered up a lot more than the Dior dress she wore yesterday.

Very plain for Juliette Lewis.

This is the best dress I have seen Star Jones wear during Cannes. The embroidery and the feathered hem are delightful.
