Michelle Dockery and Freida Pinto In Miu Miu – Miu Miu Women’s Tales Talks Venice Film Festival Photocall

Miu Miu Women's Tales Talks - The 70th Venice International Film Festival

Michelle Dockery and Freida Pinto attended the Miu Miu Women’s Tales Talks photocall held at Excelsior Hotel on Saturday in Venice, Italy – with both ladies wearing Miu Miu, naturally.

Michelle Dockery: The ‘Downton Abbey’ actress wore a sombre navy sheer top and a black floaty skirt with black-patent pumps, which for me is not getting into the festival spirit especially when we are nearing the end of summer. Even with the red pout, I am totally bored by this look. She could’ve lifted it with some interesting jewels or a statement necklace, but no.

Freida Pinto: After failing to excite at the premiere last week, Freida was back to her best, looking lovely wearing a summery Miu Miu white-and-pink tie-dye sleeveless shirtdress styled with nude pumps with an embellished heel and a shimmering taupe lip colour. While this is much improved, I’m sad that we didn’t get a more glamorous moment from Freida at this festival.

Several celebs attended the Miu Miu Women’s Tales screening during the 2013 Venice International Film Festival in Italy this afternoon.

Freida Pinto: I’m usually a big fan of Freida’s style, but this bright-red Miu Miu dress with a black button panel with a zipper detail …dare I say… looks very cheap and the whole thing reads sloppy to me. Very disappointed.

Carey Mulligan: Even though I am not a fan of sunglasses on the red carpet, Carey fared much better wearing a simple black silk Miu Miu frock with a white Peter Pan collar, which is the second look which has a back-to-school vibe I have seen this week.

Michelle Dockery: Also opting for red, the British actress wore a Miu Miu silk crepe-de-chine loose-fit mini dress with two front patch pockets. I am picturing her shuffling along the red carpet, because those black pumps look so heavy. I’m also not a fan of the clutch; it feels like it is there just for advertising purposes as it also doesn’t complement her frock.

Gabrielle Union: The beautiful actress graced the red carpet wearing a floaty sheer black Miu MIu dress with a red velvet panel which has an autumnal feel that I can’t get excited about.

In summary, with the exception of Carey, none of these looks is working for me. I can find fault with each look.

L’Oreal ‘Collection Privee by Color Riche’ Ad Campaign

L'Oreal 'Collection Privee by Color Riche' Ad Campaign

Actresses Freida Pinto, Julianne Moore, Jane Fonda, Fan Bingbing and Eva Longoria pose with models Liya Kebede, Inès de La Fressange and Doutzen Kroes for L’Oreal’s ‘Collection Privee by Color Riche’ campaign.

Captured by Norman Jean Roy, this must have been taken during Cannes Film Festival when all the ladies were providing the eye candy on the carpet while fulfilling their ambassadorial roles.

Sadly Sonam Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are not featured in this ad.

The women all wore black dresses, or black blouses and skirts for the shoot.

While it’s hard to identify most, the one which stands out is Fan Bingbing in her Ulyana Sergeenko Couture gown thanks to the distinctive neckline.

Update: Doutzen is wearing a Gucci Spring 2006 gown.

The Art of Contouring Your Cheeks

Media Room At "Chime For Change: The Sound Of Change Live" ConcertNot all of us were blessed with supermodel cheekbones, but thanks to a little thing called contouring, you can totally fake it!

The endlessly gorgeous Freido Pinto is the perfect example for a little cheek contouring how-to. Sure, she has great cheekbones to begin with, but at the Chime For Change concert this weekend, she used makeup to accentuate them even more.

Contouring your cheeks should be done after you apply your foundation, concealer and eye makeup. It’s the final step of your makeup routine.

While you can use either cream or powder bronzer for contouring, I have found that a powder is easier to control and blend, so it’s best as you are learning the technique.

Chose a bronzer that is two shades darker than your natural skin colour, and also, be sure to use a non-shimmer bronzer, since the shimmer doesn’t blend well and makes the bronzer too obvious in the hollows of your cheeks. I love Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder, and the Bobbi Brown Bronzing Brush is the perfect applicator.

To find the correct place to apply the bronzer, make a fish face, and you’ll see that angled indentation below your cheek. Then follow that ‘line’ with the bronzer, starting by your ear and swiping down toward your chin.

After applying the bronzer (Start lightly! You can apply more if you need.) to both cheeks, then use a kabuki brush like Make Up For Ever HD Kabuki Brush to buff it and blend it in. You want the definition, but not the noticeable line.

Finally, apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour gives a light wash of colour (no one wants clown cheeks), and Buxom True Hue Blush Brush helps control the application (you want to make sure you don’t get any blush onto your contouring line). Remember never use the same brush for bronzer and blush, as the colours will get muddied!

The result will be a more defined cheekbone and a more dramatic look that you’re sure to love.

Blake Lively, Freida Pinto, Jessica Chastain and More In Gucci – ‘Chime For Change: The Sound Of Change Live’ Concert

Chime For Change The Sound Of Change Live 2

Gucci’s new global campaign saw some of the world’s most celebrated artists come together today at London’s Twickenham stadium for the ‘Chime For Change: The Sound Of Change Live’ concert event which is aimed to raise funds and awareness for girls’ and women’s issues globally.

The royal box and media room saw many of Gucci’s brand ambassadors from around the world together to support this worthy cause.

Blake Lively: With an arm stacked full of Lorraine Schwartz colourful bracelets and hot-pink Christian Louboutin pumps with a gold toe-cap, Mrs Reynolds opted to wear a stark white mini Gucci frock with a cape. Her hairstyle is the one thing preventing me from loving this look from head-to-toe.

Freida Pinto: With a touch of Saturday Night Fever; the Indian actress opted for a tailored white Gucci suit with black lapels styled with Gucci accessories including a bright-bit coral clutch.

Jessica Chastain: The actress, who was co-presenting with James Franco, wore a black Gucci Fall 2013 frock with a lace yoke, which was shorter than the same look that took to the runway. Adding an edge to her frock, she wore spiked Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalle’ pumps.

‘The Cannes Diaries’ with shoescribe.com

Best Dressed of the Day Freida Pinto

My best dressed of the day in association with shoescribe.com was a very clear winner: Freida Pinto in Sanchita.

She inspired a selection of shoes, including the MICHAEL Michael Kors rhinestone-accented caged booties for their complementary colour and contemporary edge, and the Gianvito Rossi crystal-accented ankle-strap heels for being sexy and dripping with bling, much like Freida’s side-slit gown.
