Damn you Freida Pinto.

BDOTW is going to be hard enough.

The nude runway version of this Valentino Spring 2010 dress is beautiful, but the Indian beauty picked a black sheer version with a nude underlay which I absolutely adore.

Her look was paired with satin black heels and a Roger Vivier Canasta clutch.

I’m loving every thing about Emily Blunt’s Basil Soda Fall 2009 Couture maroon dress from the waist up.

Her patterned skirt doesn’t quite work for me.

Had it been one block colour, I think I would been drooling over this look.

This appears to be a less formal event, so I will concede that she did make a great choice despite my reservations about the skirt.

I love the wrap around beaded bodice as it’s so interesting and unique, plus I adore her silver sandals, but that crystallized ruby clutch is to die for.

I know a lot of you find Claire Danes very boring on the red carpet, but I find her quite calming on the red carpet.

As much as I like big dramatic gowns, with bling and vibrant colours, you never see Claire making huge mistakes on the red carpet.

She has a formula, and it appears she is sticking to it.

For me this Oscar de la Renta look is in a long line for simple flawless looks for Claire.

Amy Adams wears a simple navy Azzaro dress with a twist, as it has a ruched detail going down one side.

All in all, this is a fantastically well dressed event.

Kudos to all these ladies.

October 9th, 2009

Last night was the opening night of 3rd Middle East International Film Festival.

Hilary Swank was definitely the belle of this ball looking exquisite wearing an asymmetrical Elie Saab Fall 2009 Couture draped gown, which is fully embroidered from the tip of her shoulder pad to the hem of her gown.

She’s rarely on the red carpet, but she ALWAYS delivers.

I’ve waited most of the day to post this hoping to find a picture from the front, but this side on shot is all I could find.

Demi Moore was also at this ceremony looking drop-dead gorgeous.

The actress wore a strapless J. Mendel Pre-Fall 2009 gown which has a gold lining.

The simple dress is paired with a black pearls necklace, and a black/gold clutch which perfectly matches her gown.

Egyptian actress and jury member Menna Shalabi wore a Naeem Khan Spring 2009 strapless gown.

I always loved how this grey gown with a ombre orange skirt looked like a flame when the model walked the runway.

Freida Pinto wore a simple black gown with cut-out detail on the waist.

The gold trim on her dress complemented her gold clutch and the gold ribbons in her hair.

Front Row

I will assume Leighton Meester traveled all the way to Paris for the Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 presentation, as I haven’t yet seen her front row at any other shows.

Despite the long flight and jet-lag Leighton knocks it out of the fashion ball park in floral Resort 2010 dress with a ruffle detail cascading down the front.

She paired her dress with a belted vest from the same collection.

I love everything about this look.  Even the sandals paired with socks, but that grey bag just makes me shiver.

A cute clutch or no bag at all would have been preferred.

I’m sure many of you will go crazy over Freida Pinto’s Fall 2009 look consisting of an electric blue jersey top paired with a matching layered chiffon skirt.

I think the look is just OK.

I’m more drawn to the bright colour, the open-toe boots and bag, as the hair just ruins the look for me plus the top is a little tight about the bust.

I saved going gaga for Camilla Belle who wore my favourite look from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 collection.

Camilla never has a day off look fabulous, but I just wish she hadn’t worn those shades.

Katy Perry wore a metallic puff sleeve top which wasn’t presented on the runway paired with a black pencil skirt.

I love the contrast between the futuristic top and the classic skirt.

Natalia Vodianova decided not to belt her LV Fall 2009 nude dress with a textured black yoke.

I like the look both ways.

Rinko Kikuchi is the second person to rock this LV Fall 2009 blue and pink dress with a black lace overlay.

I’m glad she wasn’t so bold to wear it as presented on the runway, as we all know Rinko likes to take a risk.

Last season Gong Li arrived at the LV show wearing a chic denim look.

This time opted for a sophisticated black coat/dress from the Fall 2009 collection which she paired with Cancan heels.

Even thought Anastasia Gorbacheva watered down the LV Fall 2009 runway look, she did it for all the right reason.

I really love this look. Those pattern leggings are gorgeous.

Daisy Lowe also wore the LV Cancan heels, but paired hers with an ivory skirt and black blazer.

This look is surprisingly demure considering she wore leopard print pants at Dolce & Gabbana’s show.

I thought she would’ve loved to have worn the adventurous pieces at LV.

Maybe Zoe Saldana was down in the dumps as the paparazzi failed to recognise her when I saw her in Paris, because her smile seems strained.

The Star Trek star opted for a rather cute playsuit with a ribboned neck tie.

After-Party

Zoe Saldana got back into her groove posing fiercely at the show’s after-party wearing a LV Fall 2009 dress.

I love her gold accessories, the ruffles sleeved and the one-poufy shoulder detail, but were’s the pom-pom?

Camilla Belle opted for a grey knotted and ruched LV Fall 2009 dress for her after-party look.

Love the hair and make-up with this look.

Natalia Vodianova arrived with her husband Justin Portman wearing another nude and black LV Fall 2009 look.

This time it was a velvet mini dress was paired with patterned tights and Cancan heels.

Gong Li wore this navy LV Fall 2009 dress with a poufy hem.

The dress is gorgeous, but the boots are a tad much when the dress has so much detail.

I guess she decided on the boots as torrential rain, thunder and lighting hit Paris last night.

Thankfully my train was pulling out of Gare du Nord on the 2013 as this started to happen.

September 25th, 2009

A few weeks ago we saw Freida Pinto carrying a Chanel “Coco Cocoon” bag, which many of us have dubbed the worst Chanel bag of all time.

Recently in whilst shopping in London she managed to redeem herself by carrying a Dolce & Gabbana Miss Gin Ruffle Bowler bag which is more pleasing to the eye.

Her cream top handled nappa leather has gold tone hardware, a pleated body and ruffled trim, which make me go weak at the knees.

This bag - which just shot to #1 on my wish list - is available from Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman for $2,395.

Brown Freshman Emma Watson traveled from Rhode Island to London for the Burberry Spring 2010 presentation during London Fashion Week.

Burberry’s Fall 2009 campaign girl traded her air miles for a custom-made Burberry Prorsum Spring 2010 golden dress.

Emma’s gold foil short sleeve front zip dress was paired with a black braided belt and black Burberry platforms.

Her hair was styled in a loose updo to complete her front row superstar look.

Despite only appearing in one movie Freida Pinto sealed her superstar status by not only being front row at the Burberry Spring 2010 presentation last night, but she also wore a dress from the presentation before it had hit the runway.

I adore this soft yellow twisted dress on her, as she is truly glowing.

She opted for a purple studded Burberry clutch and Rupert Sanderson Aspasia fuchsia leopard patent heels to complete her look.

Very interesting coloured accessories for her yellow dress.

Gwyneth Paltrow also opted for a twisted piece from the Spring 2010 collection.

Unfortunately her skirt/t-shirt/chunky boots combo doesn’t quite work for me.

Alexa Chung wore a classic Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2009 trench coat over her LBD.

Ankle boots as standard.

With her trademark Chanel sunglasses in check, Anna Wintour arrived at the presentation wearing a gold and bronzed Oscar de la Renta Fall 2009 dress, with bronze strappy kitten heel sandals.

How very chic Ms. Wintour.

Proving that she truly is the best ambassador for her brand, Victoria Beckham arrived in a black dress from her own Spring 2010 collection.

I’m grateful for this new silhouette, but I must ask how many Trib Two’s does Victoria own?

Lee Na Young wore the same Burberry Prorsum Fall 2009 gold floral dress/black coat combo Melissa George wore recently, which is leading me to believe that maybe if you buy the dress, you get the coat free.

Mary-Kate Olsen I believe traveled to London especially for this presentation.

The actress wore a black tulle dress under a black coat with black beetle bug brooch decorating her coat.

She accessorized with black suede Burberry wedge heels, dark sunglasses and an orange beaded bag.

Carine Roitfeld opted for an all black look which included a peaked shouldered blazer and a YSL vintage dress by Tom Ford.

As did Liv Tyler, who toughen up her look with Burberry Prorsum cut-out leather sandals.

Sporting longer locks which were swept to the side, Lily Allen was named “Woman of the Year” and the “2009 GQ Men Of The Year Awards” in London last night.

The face of Chanel “Coco Cocoon” bag collection walked the red carpet wearing a black sheer double strapped Chanel Resort 2010 gown.

Had Lily wondered what that extra piece of material was for on the front of her gown, she’ll wonder no more when she sees her picture in the papers this morning.

Many of you are horrified that Lily is the face of Chanel, and when she ruins a perfectly wonderful gown like this I have to agree.

Freida Pinto makes a vast improvement from her last outing, which lets face it wouldn’t have been too difficult.

I love that she took a risk with this Christopher Kane black layered dress, but the hair is a bit too prim and proper for such an edgy look.

The actress pairs her dress with Rupert Sanderson Khyber cutout sandals.

I would’ve much rather seen Freida wear something more colourful, but I think she just pulls this off.

Louise Redknapp also opted for a shortened Christopher Kane Fall 2009 asymmetrical dress.

Her mesh dress with black velvet trims was paired with YSL Trib Two heels and Bottega Veneta clutch.

Katherine Jenkins appears to love the Victoria Beckham dress collection as much as the designer herself, as this is the 2nd VB dress we’ve seen her wear.

This time she opted for violet Giral strapless shot silk dress.

I’m guessing Katherine likes this collection so much because the dresses caters for those with a larger bust.

When I tried on a strapless dress from Victoria’s Spring 2009 collection I could barely fill the bodice.

The only way I recognised that Gemma Arterton was wearing Louis Vuitton was by her clutch and heels.

For some reason the LV pizazz is lost on Gemma, and this ruffle collared jacket suddenly becomes quite ordinary.

I just feel like raising the collar, its not meant to be so flat.

Victoria Hesketh aka Little Boots was one of my favourites at this event wearing a Josh Goot multi coloured printed ruched mini dress.

The surprising feature is that the back of the dress and sleeves are plain black.

The singer completes her look with an Alexander McQueen knuckle duster clutch.

Pixie Lott opted for a bedazzling Collette Dinnigan Spring 2009 mini dress coved in diamanté embellishments.

Ankle boots and studded cuffs complete the look.

We first saw this dress worn by Taylor Swift.

Much like Leighton Meester’s MTV Movie Awards Emilio De La Morena dress, Alexandra Burke’s black and white mesh Emilio Pucci dress is quite cheeky.

I’m really scared to see what this dress looked like from the back.

A turtleneck? In yesterday’s soaring heat?

I feel hot just looking at Kelly Osbourne wearing this Jasmine di Milo’s Fall 2009 dress.

Dita von Teese will be full of admiration for Kelly Brook’s waist reducing dress.

The pink rubber printed dress appears to have a built in corset to give Kelly an hour glass shape.

I bet she gave off a sexy wiggle when she walked in this dress.

Even though Eva Mendes was the “big star” at this event I was more impressed by people like Little Boots and Kelly Brook for giving us something new.

Eva wore a stunning maroon shimmering gown.

The colour was sublime on her, but the wow factor was missing. Eva can do this kind of look in her sleep.

Daisy Lowe opted for a space-aged look, which she paired down with black pumps.

Rachel Stevens hair and make-up is quite outstanding. I love the transformation maybe the newlywed decided to spice up her image.

Her LND with a voluminous skirt is oh so cute.

Tamara Ecclestone wore a striking Preen black and white lightening-print bandage-style dress paired with black ankle boots and a matching clutch.

Elizabeth Hurley’s strapless but dress is cute enough, but why I’m I so bored?

Form Launch Party, London

In the absence of Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe is London’s current IT girl.

The model worked an interesting Ostwald Helgason Spring 2009 gypsy print vest, with a navy button down jumpsuit.

The cropped multi-coloured gypsy print vest has square structured shoulders, a contrasting black and white striped fabric on the lapels and an all-over vivid multi-coloured pattern.

Petra Eccleston opted for the same Peter Pilotto Fall 2009 dress as worn by Amanda Seyfried at this years Glamour UK Woman of the Year Awards.

The navy and red intricate digital print silk mini dress is gorgeous, and is one of my favourite dresses to hit the red carpet this year.

The dress has asymmetrical panels which are cleverly folded to provide a tulip shape and draping in the skirt section and cap sleeves.

The sparkle comes from the heavily embellished multi-coloured beads around the neckline.

Lily Allen kept her look simple with a grey sweater and jeans, but her a statement necklace and long gloves provide interesting/quirky touches.

New Escada Fragrance “Desire Me”, Madrid

Olivia Wilde wore an Escada Pre-Fall 2009 dress to the unveiling of the Escada fragrance, “Desire Me” in Madrid.

She wore a stunning grey short sleeve silk dress with asymmetrical draping paired with black Jimmy Choo heels.

The actress also stars in the ad campaign for the new fragrance.

Kylie Minogue Launches Exclusive Bed Linen Range, Hertfordshire

Kylie Minogue poses outside The Ivory Room at the Grove Lodge in Hertfordshire as she arrived to launch her new range of Luxurious Bed Linen.

A clothing line, or a fragrance line I get for a celeb I get, but bed linen?!?!

Anyway she looked stunning wearing an ombre strapless sparkling mini dress, which showed off her toned legs and silver strappy sandals.

Liberty & Hermes Launch Party, London

I think this what happens when a star is without her US based stylist.

Freida Pinto arrived at the Liberty & Hermes Launch Party with her boyfriend Dev Patel looking less than the glamorous star I’ve come to expect from her.

Granted it’s a low key event, but her choice of wearing a black & white leopard-print Maje with black faded jeans *shudders* and ankle boots is just a bit boring for me.

Black tapered pants and cute Jimmy Choo strappy sandals would’ve made this look much more interesting.
