Get The Look: Janelle Monae’s Modern Twiggy Grammys Floral Beauty Look

One of the best beauty looks of the Grammys, Janelle Monae’s emerald accented beauty look featured a cool makeup trend to try this coming spring.

Celebrity Makeup Artist Jessica Smalls created the look which was inspired by Twiggy’s signature beauty style, which resulted in a timeless yet modern makeup. Here’s how she created the look.

SKIN: Treating the skin was a crucial component to creating Janelle’s winning look. To maximize hydration, Jessica began prepping her skin the night before the awards ceremony with the Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask. This beneficial mask worked overnight providing the skin with ample brightness while energizing the skin. Upon arriving to their glam session the next morning, Jessica decided to further enhance her skin by massaging Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate onto Janelle’s skin and neck after a soothing 5-minute steam. She then followed with a layer of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream on the skin and applied Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado around the eye area gently with her fingers. To allow complete penetration of the creams and concentrate, Jessica jumped right to the eyes.

EYES: To achieve that bold and modern Twiggy eye look, Jessica began by picking up a soft blending brush and buffed in a mix of Buxom Cosmetics Eyeshadow Bar Single Eyeshadow in shades Lingerie Lover, Haute Couture and LBD into the crease. These intensely pigmented powder shadows give a luxurious silky finish which lent to the sexy eye look. To achieve that stunning pop of emerald, Jessica lined her waterline with Buxom Cosmetics Hold The Line Waterproof Eyeliner in Ring My Bell and layered Buxom Cosmetics Eyeshadow Bar Single Eyeshadow in shade Twilight Tryst atop that for that amazing pop of green. To really give this sultry eye look the Twiggy feel, Jessica applied flashes eyelashes, Eylure Luxe Silk ‘Trillion’ on the upper lash line and strategically placed a few individual lashes along the bottom. She finished off the look with the a few coats of the amplifying and thickening Buxom Cosmetics Big Tease Plumping Mascara.

SKIN: Now that the skin had time to absorb the beneficial properties of the moisturizer, Jessica primed the skin with a pore-tightening primer with a synthetic brush and followed with a mix of Buxom Cosmetics Show Some Skin Weightless Foundation in shade In The Dark with the Buxom Cosmetics Divine Goddess Luminizer. Using a damp sponge, she layered the products onto her skin, concentrating on the nose and buffing it outwards to the outer perimeters of Janelle’s face. For subtle brightness, Jessica gently tapped a bit of concealer onto her under eye area with her ring finger. For a bit of warmth and contour, Buxom Cosmetics Hot Escapes Bronzer in shade Maldives, a universally flattering sun-kissed shade, was swept onto Janelle’s cheeks, temples and forehead and pop of soft pink onto the apples of the cheeks. She finished off the skin with a hint of delicate glow by lightly adding a touch of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream atop the pink.

LIPS: Moving onto the lips, Jessica began by prepping the lips with Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1. For that soft, sexy red-carpet ready pout, she lightly filled in the lips with Buxom Cosmetics Plumpline Lip Liner in shade Stealth, a lip-plumping and lasting liner. For major dimensional shine, she topped the liner with the lip boosting Buxom Cosmetics Full-On Lip Polish in shade Megan.

Get The Look: Rita Ora’s Ultra-Glamorous Glossy Grammys Look

Much like her stunning $3.6 million Lorraine Schwartz jewels, Rita Ora was shining bright like a diamond at this year’s Grammy Awards.

Her elegant and glamorous Ralph & Russo Couture gown was highlighted by a stunning makeup look that made a statement on its own.

Celebrity Makeup Artist Kathy Jeung created a look which emphasized radiance while providing drama. Here’s how she achieved this winning look:

SKIN: After the skin was cleansed and well moisturized, Kathy applied Rimmel London Lasting Finish Breathable Primer. While prepping the skin, this light veil created a smooth base for foundation application.

FACE: Prior to foundation, Kathy color corrected any redness or discoloration on Rita’s skin using the Rimmel London Insta Conceal & Correct palette. She then followed up by applying a blend of Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25HR Foundation in 303 True Nude and Rimmel London Good to Glow Highlighter in 003 Soho Glow for a flawless radiant base. Blending a foundation with liquid highlighter lightens the formula of the foundation while adding a luxurious yet subtle sheen once applied. For added brightness under the eyes, Kathy used Rimmel London Match Perfection Concealer in 335 Light/Medium.

For understated color, Kathy used the versatile Rimmel London Kate Moss Sculpting Palette in 001 Golden Sands, using the darker tan shade for a subtle contour along her cheeks and the pink shade for blush. The soft look was framed with the highlighter shade, buffing the iridescent shade from the palette along the high points of Rita’s face. To enhance that luxe shine and give the skin a multi-dimensional radiant glow, Kathy concentrated Rimmel London Insta Duo Contour Stick right onto her cheekbones, following upwards towards the eyes for a dramatic shine. A light dusting of Rimmel London Insta Fix & Matte Translucent Pressed Powder was applied and was on hand for touch ups throughout the evening.

EYES: To create that ultra-cool glossy eye look, Kathy started with Rimmel London Magnif’Eyes Blush Edition Eye Shadow Palette which served as a primer for the gloss. The upper lash line was defined using Rimmel London Scandal’Eyes Precision Micro Eyeliner in Black. For an eye opening effect, she lined the lower lash line with Rimmel London Scandal’Eyes Eyeshadow Stick in 001 Witness White. Rita’s full lashes were dressed in a few coats of Rimmel London Shake It Fresh Mascara. Finally to create that glossy finish, Kathy applied Rimmel London Oh My Gloss! in Clear straight to the lids, using the applicator, she gently tapped the product onto the lids without disrupting the shadow. This chic and runway-inspired look was framed with perfectly groomed brows which Kathy defined using Rimmel London Brow This Way Brow Pomade Fix & Fill in 002 Medium.

LIPS: Kathy chose a glamorous plum lip color to finish off the look and opted for matte finish to contrast the stunning glossy and radiant aspects of the makeup. She used Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour in 810 Plum This Show which features a slighted tapered tip that allows for precise and fool-proof application.

Get The Look: Anna Kendrick’s Grammys Glam

Celebrity Makeup Artist Lisa Aharon provided the glam for one of Hollywood’s sweethearts and favorite funny girls, Anna Kendrick, on the night of the 2018 Grammy Awards where the ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ star and show presenter hit the red carpet trading in the traditional gown for a men’s-style Balmain suit.

Lisa shares how to get Anna’s look.

“To start off Anna’s skin prep, I used Vaseline Intensive Care Essential Healing Lotion, for deeply moisturized and healthy looking skin. It has a beautiful, subtle scent and melts into the skin without being greasy. For longevity and a perfect canvas, I used Tom Ford’s Foundation Primer mixed with Traceless Foundation. I like to buff the foundation into the skin with their Creme Foundation Brush, until it seemingly disappears and becomes one with the skin.

Brows are always next— our eyebrows act as a frame to the face so I like to groom them before shadow or anything else to see where I’m at. On Anna, I used Chantecaille Waterproof Brow Definer in Oak Brown and finished them with Glossier Boy Brow in Brown. It’s my new favorite combo for a defined full brow that still looks super natural.

My inspiration for Anna’s eyes came from her outfit. 90’s Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista kept coming to mind. I used a matte taupe in Tom Ford’s Cocoa Mirage palette to create to shape and some depth in the crease and around the lash line. To make it more modern, I then blended a silver metallic shadow in 005 from Pat McGrath Labs over top. A Tarte gel liner with an angled brush was what I used to fill in the lash line on the top lid only.

Since the eyes were really the feature of Anna’s make up, I kept it strong with a couple coats of Chantecaille black mascara under Eylure Luxe Silk ‘Radiant’ Lashes, the texture is super natural and they add drama without the weight. I trimmed the lashes to fit the length of the eye and then positioned them with a fine line of adhesive. I like to let the glue dry for about 30 seconds before attempting placement as they stick with ease and don’t slide around.

Anna’s got amazing bone structure so I don’t tend to do much contouring. I do love a rosy blush on her though! I dusted Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Euphoric Vision onto the apples of the cheeks to achieve a healthy glow.

I used Charlotte Tilbury’s, Nude Kate with Hourglass’s Dusty Rose Lipliner in Eden. I love that neither are not too warm or cool and just look amazing with Anna’s skin tone. Setting the final look was done with Laura Mercier Translucent Powder and finishing with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light.

Sza In Monse – 2018 Grammy Awards Performance

Even though SZA was unable to secure a Grammy after being nominated in five categories, the songstress swept the crowd away with her spell-binding rendition of ‘Broken Clocks’ at the 2018 Grammy Awards on Sunday night (January 28).

With the Matrix-style mind-bending backdrop that showcased a slew of random numbers flashing simultaneously, SZA floated through her first Grammys performance smoothly.

However, some might not think the same about her outfit; especially following her dreamy Atelier Versace red carpet look.

The Monse Spring 2018 sequin tank top and sheer top was an interesting comb, but below the waist this was a letdown.

I’m happy she didn’t go down the predictable leotard route, but I really dislike the split-to-the-thigh baggy jeans which felt a bit dated.
