Red Carpet Fashion Awards

LV FROW

The Louis Vuitton Fall 2013 presentation took place in Paris, France this afternoon, with stars wearing pieces from Spring 2013 and Pre-Fall 2013 collections.

Fan Bingbing: The Asian beauty took her front row seat wearing the same black-and-white chequered-flag-print dress we saw on Jessica Alba. I love the retro ‘do and the edge she brings to the look via her leather half gloves. A cream LV bag and stacked peep-toes complete her look. This is the 19th chequered look to hit the red carpet.

Lea Seydoux: The French actress gave us a more interesting look, wearing a black-and-red floral-print look from the Pre-Fall 2013 collection. Her patent black pumps work well on this occasion, with a chic top-handle LV bag and a red-hot pout and plenty of attitude completing her FROW look. You may remember that Michelle Williams wore these same pants recently.

Lily Collins: Looking totally adorable in her gold-and-black Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2013 dress with a black pointy collar, the actress styled her look with a lusty worthy LV top-handle bag, a top-knot and black pumps.

Naomi Watts: After wearing a selection of high-glamour looks during awards season, Naomi scaled things back this morning by wearing a simple white shift dress from the Spring 2013 collection with a white coat. I love the mint-green tote, but I dislike the black pumps with a passion with this look.

Fan Bingbing In Elie Saab Couture - 2013 Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscars Party

Having taken to the red carpet at the Oscars wearing Marchesa, and the Vanity Fair party wearing Oscar de la Renta, Fan Bingbing scored a hat trick of looks by changing into her third gown for the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar party on Sunday evening.

For her third look, she wore an Elie Saab Spring 2012 Couture gown.

While I love the dramatics of the Marchesa gown, I also can’t help falling in love with this soft, pretty, peachy gown with an embellished cape detail.

I’m not a fan of the black Roger Vivier clutch with this heavenly look; it would’ve worked better with her second gown. I do, however, adore her ruby Chopard drop earrings.

Having to change three times in one night, you have to wonder how much fun Fan Bingbing was able to have at any of the events. I guess the fun was in the dressing up.

Fan Bingbing In Oscar de la Renta - 2013 Vanity Fair Party I immediately thought of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s striped entrance at the Chanel Pre-Oscar Dinner when I saw Fan Bingbing showing her own stripes at the 2013 Vanity Fair Party, hosted Sunday night at the Sunset Tower in California.

For the after-party circuit, the Asian actress swapped her Marchesa magenta ball gown, worn on the Oscars red carpet, for monochrome. But she wasn’t afraid to still go big with this voluminous dress from Oscar de la Renta’s Spring 2013 collection.

On the model, I liked this linear moment, especially since stripes (even those of the zebra variety) are so on trend right now.

On Fan, it was missing the wow factor I wanted. Without the runway’s bold statement necklace, this look came off as a bit one-dimensional.

A bold lip colour or a less structured hairstyle could have helped the situation.

2013Oscars_FanBingBing

Ripping her red-carpet confection straight from the Marchesa Fall 2013 runway of New York Fashion Week just days ago, Fan Bingbing made a bold entrance at the 2013 Academy Awards, hosted this evening at the Dolby Theatre in California.

It’s no surprise that designers Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman’s most recent collection has hit the Oscars. The romantically theatrical aura of creations like Fan’s fuchsia number certainly are worthy of a red carpet.

That said, I wasn’t totally on board with the Chinese actress’s interpretation of this architecturally extravagant gown, which was undoubtedly a challenge to fit into a limousine—or through a doorway.

It came rather close to overwhelming the petite star. And that black clutch, while lovely, was a harsh distraction.

But the Chopard jewels, in complementary shades of pink and magenta, were beautiful.

She finished the look with a structured high updo and a pink lippie.

Fan Bingbing In Louis Vuitton - Sidaction Gala Dinner 2013

Despite not being seen front row at any couture shows in Paris this week, Fan BingBing attended the Sidaction Gala Dinner 2013 held at the Pavillon d’Armenonville in Paris yesterday evening, which was also attended by Leelee Sobieski.

The Asian beauty stepped out of the chequered box to be original and selected a solid piece from the Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 collection.

Her shimmering bright-yellow long-sleeved floor-length dress with pocket detailing on both sides was styled with an LV white minaudière with gold detailing, including a tassel accent.

With her hair styled in a centre parting and swept behind her ears, she completed her look with long diamond-encrusted earrings.

Thank god for Bingbing – the Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 collection was swiftly becoming one-note.
