Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Oscars menThe Oscars 2014 on Sunday (March 2), and the ensuing soirees, were a fashion feast for the senses, with high-wattage gowns swishing at every glam turn. But the men provided plenty of eye candy, as well, as they suited up in their sartorial best for the stylish super-event at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California followed by the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

Matthew McConaughey: The ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ Best Actor winner not only delivered a compelling acceptance speech, he also was convincingly decked out in a Dolce & Gabbana suit, Louboutin shoes and Chopard cufflinks. Always surprising us with his wild-card jackets, this one was a crispy ivory number, which he handsomely sported with a black vest, white button-down, black trousers and bowtie.

Bradley Cooper: Looking ever so dapper in a black Tom Ford tuxedo, paired with a black bow tie and Chopard cufflinks, the ‘American Hustle’ star and Best Supporting Actor nominee wore a side of handsome scruff with his classic ensemble

Pharrell Williams: Well, he wasn’t wearing the colossal hat, but the ‘Happy’ singer and nominee still turned heads with his cutoffs. The custom head-to-toe Lanvin look featured a black wool shawl-collar, one-button tuxedo with matching shorts, a white tuxedo shirt with ivory pearl buttons, a black satin bowtie and dark gray hand-polished calfskin derbies (sans socks, natch).  Yay or nay?

Menswear round up 12 nov
Here, a look at the men who made an impression at a round of red carpets yesterday, from New York to Los Angeles and London.

Idris Elba: At the ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ Los Angeles premiere at the ArcLight Cinemas Cinerama Dome, the actor struck a handsome profile in a navy-blue Burberry suit with contrasting charcoal-grey tie. It was a suave and sophisticated style move, and another welcome reprieve from the traditional black suit.

Ewan McGregor: The Scottish actor showed up to the British Independent Film Awards announcement event at St. Martin’s Lane Hotel in London, where he kept his look rather basic. His tie-less, all-black ensemble trended on the more casual side, with a blazer, T-shirt and trousers. The red cuffs made the statement here.

Orlando Bloom: In the midst of plenty of modish mavens, Orlando Bloom held his own at the CFDA and Vogue 2013 Fashion Fund Finalists event at New York City’s Spring Studios. Taking a more formal route, he dressed up in a Dior Homme navy wool micro-check, two-button notch-lapel suit, paired with a white cotton cut-away collar button-down shirt and brown suede Montaigne boots.

Menswear Thursday

Here is a round-up of menswear from this week.

Armie Hammer: After starting the week in a bright red Gucci suit, Armie toned things down for the Paris premiere for ‘The Lone Ranger’ donning a Ralph Lauren Black Label navy suit styled with a blue shirt featuring a white collar, green tie with asymmetrical stripes, a polka-dot navy-and-white pocket square and brown shoes. Do you prefer this more classic look or the more daring Gucci look?

Andrew Garfield: In the absence of on-and-off screen girlfriend Emma Stone, it was left to Andrew to promote ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ during Comic -Con this weekend. The actor wore a blue-and-indigo contrast-sleeve Burberry jacket paired with a Lanvin polo shirt, dark denim jeans and Nike sneakers. Even when dressed down, he still looks very dapper.

Ewan McGregor: From dapper to debonair, Ewan had me swooning when he took to the red carpet for the Aston Martin Centenary event this weekend. Looking handsome posing alongside one of the classic automobiles as if he’d just stepped onto the set of a James Bond movie, he wore a classic Neil Barrett tuxedo with satin lapels and a bow tie. Jimmy Choo ‘Prescott’ suede shoes with a patent leather toecap completed his look.

Here is a quick roundup of the menswear which took to the red carpet last night.

Richard Armitage: The actor may have taken a back seat to my first love Cate Blanchett; but he did look rather dashing on the red carpet attending the royal premiere of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’, at the Odeon Leicester Square in London wearing a classic Ermenegildo Zegna black shawl collar tuxedo with a dickie bow-tie.

Ewan McGregor: Joining Naomi Watts on the red carpet for ‘The Impossible’ special screening at Museum of Art and Design in New York City yesterday evening, Ewan wore a sharp pin-stripe dark suit. The suit was styled with a blue cotton poplin shirt and black-and-grey brogues from the Marni Fall 2012 collection. He sure does love those stand-out brogues.

Eddie Redmayne: Sans sexy face and sporting his signature lean-to-the-left red carpet pose, the British actor attended the Museum Of Moving Images salute to Hugh Jackman at Cipriani Wall Street on Tuesday in New York City dressed in a Thom Browne Fall 2012 black tuxedo with a bow tie. This promo tour has been great for the handsome actor. Could he be your BDMOTY (Best Dressed Man Of The Year)?

Ewan McGregor attended the premiere of his latest movie, ‘The Impossible’, at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood, California yesterday evening.

Dressed in a Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière grey suit with a light-grey shirt and tie, he sports a clean-shaven look.

Even without the beard he still manages to possesses a hint of ruggedness. Don’t you think?

With the beard, without the beard: he’s gorgeous either way.
