Rosamund Pike In Louis Vuitton - 2014 Met Gala

Forgoing a gown, Rosamund Pike attended the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

Also somewhat forgoing the theme, like so many others, the British actress wore a Louis Vuitton Fall 2014 croc zipper vest paired with an embroidered spiral skirt.

Styling the look with Louis Vuitton ‘New Day’ pumps, a gold LV trunk necklace and Jennifer Fisher rings, this look is quite a side step for the Erdem-loving actress, who doesn’t normally toe an edgy line.

Did she pull the look off for you?

Shailene Woodley In Rodarte - 2014 Met Gala
Shailene Woodley was also in the modish mix at the 2014 Met Gala, held on Monday (May 5) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The actress, who we saw really transform into a fashion darling during her ‘Divergent’ press tour, found inspiration in a Rodarte Fall 2014 off-the-shoulder gown.

I can perhaps understand why this dress was chosen for the evening, what with its period-inspired silhouette and highly decorative nature, alongside ornate metallic embellishment and sheer chiffon detailing.

But I didn’t love the way it translated on Shailene. Or maybe I just cannot get past her spiked and highlighted pixie ’do, which I found oddly aging for the young starlet.

Florence Welch In Valentino Couture - 2014 Met GalaFlorence Welch returned to the red carpet at the 2014 Met Gala, hosted on Monday (May 5) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

It may come as no surprise that the flame-haired songstress was in Valentino, donning a Spring 2014 Couture textural, butterfly-flocked and appliqued cape over a languid, flowing rock-grey gown.

Yes, it was more of an expected look from Florence, who perhaps could have pushed the envelope more for the momentous Met occasion. After all, she could have pulled off any measure of extravagance with graceful, statuesque aplomb.

But the elaborate detail of the menagerie that alighted on her overcoat was impact enough. It was the art piece here.

Allison Williams In Oscar de la Renta - 2014 Met Gala

Allison Williams is a vision on the red carpet of the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The actress wore an Oscar de la Renta gown in a springtime-perfect coral shade. The stunning dress was complemented by timeless Fred Leighton jewels and heels by Brian Atwood.

The fit of this dress on the gorgeous Allison is superb. The intricate seams, elegant neckline and sweeping train at the back are flawless.

To tie it all together, she wore her hair off her face and let her eyes sparkle, accented by a subtle brown shadow and peachy blush and lips.

Allison looks striking in this ensemble. I love a bold color choice like this one. Do you agree?

Maggie Gyllenhaal In Valentino - 2014 Met Gala2Maggie Gyllenhaal was among the constellation of stars at the 2014 Met Gala, hosted on Monday (May 5) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The actress, who seemed to be flaunting an even more platinum-blonde pixie cut, connected the dots in a Valentino Fall 2014 jewel-toned number, which she wore two ways: with the matching cape and without.

Perhaps it’s circle overload, but I still crave the drama that the cape delivers to the more monastic silhouette of the long-sleeve dress.

In fact, I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen quite so many circles, but the Italian Pop Art-inspired design certainly brought its own measure of artsy punch to the Met steps.

You may recall Hailee Steinfeld wore a shorter version of a similarly circle-dotted dress. So what do you think of the semi-repeat occurrence at the Met Ball?

Idina Menzel In Donna Karan Atelier - 2014 Met Gala

Idina Menzel is graceful on the red carpet for the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The singer/actress wore a Donna Karan Atelier gown with deconstructed floral motifs made of silver sequins, beads, and threadwork that flow into a chiffon and tulle skirt with a dramatic train.

The detail on this dress is phenomenal and Idina definitely owns it. The color and texture is whimsical, but the silhouette makes it pretty hot.

I love the red lip and bouncy curls to really complete that vintage-inspired feel.

This look is nothing short of glamorous. How do you feel about it?
