SXSW Conference and Festival Weekend Roundup

A number of other stars were in Austin, Texas this past weekend for the start of the 2018 SXSW Conference and Festival. Here’s a look at what they were wearing.

Carla Gugino: The actress was a beauty in blue at the ‘Elizabeth Harvest’ premiere on Saturday (Marh 10) with this vibrant, high-low variation on the iconic Diane von Furstenberg floral wrap dress. I probably would have opted for a different shoe to let her red lip and matching envelope clutch be the accessories of note, rather than bring in the additional metallic shine factor.

Jamie Chung: Making a case for colourful stripes, this was such a graphically intrepid Ronny Kobo dress—and I loved its slightly dizzying effect at the ‘1985’ premiere on Friday (March 9).

AJ Michalka: At the ‘Support the Girls’ premiere on Friday (March 9), AJ turned up the charm in a Markarian ‘Theres’ dress. The only thing about this look was that I felt the black peep-toe shoes dragged it down somewhat.

TIFF Presents ‘In Conversation With Evan Rachel Wood’

TIFF presented ‘In Conversation With Evan Rachel Wood’, starring the actress, on Saturday (January 20) in Toronto, Canada.

As she tends to favour sharp silhouettes and menswear-inspired tailoring, this Altuzarra Pre-Fall 2018 double-breasted suit was right in line with her style.

The fit was polished, but I can’t say she won me completely over with the stripes.

Her matching mulberry lip did help me warm to the colour palette, though.

Evan Rachel Wood In 3.1 Phillip Lim – Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project

Evan Rachel Wood joined Issa Rae for the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project LA County’s Politics, Sex, & Cocktails on Saturday (November 4) in LA.

The actress is known to favour menswear-inspired pieces and structural suiting, so this 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2018 pinstripe blazer dress fit right within that sartorial theme.

Yet, I loved the dual ode to femininity and edge brought forth in the ruffled underskirt and grommet belt.

Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Kamilya’ lace-up boots and her smoky-pink eye makeup played to the same sultry-edgy spirit.

Hammer Museum Gala In The Garden

The Hammer Museum Gala in the Garden was hosted on Saturday (October 14) in LA, with a crush of beauties in attendance—and all outfitted in one of the night’s leading supporters, Bottega Veneta.

Emmy Rossum: Looking nearly impossibly elegant, Emmy stunned in a Fall 2017 gown that beautifully shimmered with its gunmetal metallic plisse design. I love how her red lip and refined waves imbued another element of classic allure to the striking look.

Priyanka Chopra: I liked the softer palette of this Bottega Veneta Spring 2018 ensemble, but the creamy-white pumps let the look down.

Sarah Jessica Parker: This Resort 2018 gown was a rather subdued look for the likes of SJP.

Evan Rachel Wood In Jeremy Scott for Moschino – 2017 Emmy Awards

‘Westworld’ star and Best Actress nominee Evan Rachel Wood was at the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17) in LA.

Often gravitating towards looks with a sharp sense of precision, she attained that with this custom Jeremy Scott for Moschino menswear-influenced suiting ensemble.

While the look did translate some of the designer’s signature penchant for exaggeration in the shrunken jacket and vest piece, I love how the monochromatic white colour palette increased the overall sophistication factor.

The flowy, wide-leg pants could have even been mistaken for a long skirt from afar, which increased the glamour and femininity of the look—as did her gorgeous, desert-tinged makeup and earrings.

A Jimmy Choo ‘Cay’ clutch and Salvatore Ferragamo heels completed the look.
