Heidi came out to play during last night’s 2013 People’s Choice Awards, hosted at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California—or at least her braid did. Trendsetting starlets the likes of Lea Michele, Rumer Willis, Katy Perry and Jennifer Lawrence all worked a braided updo to brilliant effect for the show.
What made the style so compelling was its contemporary spin on the traditional hair plait, translated in slightly messy and perfectly imperfect variations. Woven locks seamlessly punched through swept-back ‘dos for a fresh and edgy look.
Rumer and Jennifer allowed a few short, curled layers to fall down from their updos, framing their faces with additional softness, while Lea kept her brunette locks bound back for a sleeker vibe.
Katy took it one step further by embellishing her hair with a sparkling gold Jennifer Behr headband.
This probably won’t be the last time we see braids dominating the young Hollywood set.

While the girls had the most glamorous fun at yesterday evening’s 2013 People’s Choice Awards hosted at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California, the guys brought some serious style—and hunk factor—to the red carpet, too.
Eddie Redmayne: The ‘Les Miserables; actor still proved he was worthy to be part of our Best Ensemble Cast of 2012 with his slimline tan suit, black vest and burgundy satin pocket square. Not only was it nice to see the British actor working a colored suit, he played up his cool-boy charm with his hands-in-the-pocket pose and a tie-less shirt with the top button open.
Matt Bomer: It was 50 shades of navy for ‘White Collar’s’ handsome star, as he went for a more traditional approach with his dark inky tuxedo paired up with a lighter tie and pocket square and a blue-and-white microprint shirt. The look actually worked perfectly for Matt, especially with his own set of icy baby blues.
Liam Hemsworth: In perhaps the boldest male moment of the night, Miley Cyrus’s fiancé took a risk with his Ermenegildo Zegna burgundy suit, which he matched back to a shiny black tie and button-down shirt and a glossy patent loafer. But his verve paid off, delivering a dapper red-carpet look that was both polished and style-forward. It helped that his jacket and pants were perfectly tailored. Read more…

Rumer Willis can be somewhat of a loose cannon on the red-carpet; sometimes she hits and other times she misses. Yesterday evening’s 2013 People’s Choice Awards at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California was definitely a hit for the young starlet.
She went for all-out glamour in an Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet Fall 2012 gown. It was a paillette-encrusted marvel with alternating diagonal black and silver striping, a pattern that proved quite figure-flattering.
To offset the high neckline and cap sleeve of the dress (and to show off the keyhole back detail), Rumer swept her hair back into a messy updo, but added some face-framing softness with loose layers around her face.
Her silvery box clutch was the perfect match with its quartz-inspired detail, and her sapphire Bochic statement earrings were stunning.

The People’s Choice Awards are generally dictate a funkier, cocktail dress code, but there were a number of starlets who took a more glammed-out approach at the 2013 show last night, including Rachael Leigh Cook.
It is not so often that we see Rachael on the red carpet, but she took advantage of her appearance in a strapless aquamarine Oliver Tolentino design.
The sweetheart gown’s long train could have overwhelmed her petite frame, but her strappy silver Pelle Moda ‘Flirty’ heels gave her some height and she managed to carry it off.
Her silver geometric necklace added a bold note, but a dark printed Ella McHugh ‘Corinne Deco’ clutch was too heavy for the diaphanous dress.
A nude lip and sleek side ‘do finished the look.
