Taylor Swift In Oscar de la Renta – 2014 Met Gala

Taylor-Swift-In-Oscar-de-la-Renta-2014-Met-Gala

Taylor Swift struck a pose on the red carpet at the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The singer and red carpet darling wore a custom Oscar de la Renta gown of pale pink embellished satin accented with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Old Hollywood glamour is a signature for Ms. Swift, and it’s the perfect styling for her gown–the bright red lip, the cat eye, the deep side part and curls–all perfectly on point.

On a night like tonight it’s hard to shine, but Taylor certainly does a good job of turning heads with this classically beautifully look.

Lea Michele In Altuzarra – 2014 Met Gala

Lea Michele In Altuzarra - 2014 Met Gala

Lea Michele dazzles on the red carpet of the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The singer/actress rocked a custom Altuzarra gown. The metallic gold of the dress, clutch, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Christian Louboutin heels definitely provided a major dose of glamour for such a star-studded occasion.

Although I don’t dislike this look, it was a little too much in my opinion. Instead of all gold everywhere, I would’ve preferred a solid color pop for bag and shoes to add a little variety and let the shimmer of the dress stand out.

I do like how Lea kept her hair and makeup simple and sophisticated to go with such a daring dress. What do you think about this look?

Rita Ora In Donna Karan Atelier – 2014 Met Gala

Rita Ora In Donna Karan Atelier - 2014 Met Gala

Rita Ora couldn’t be missed on the red carpet of the 2014 Met Gala, hosted on Monday (May 5) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Rocking a romantic rendition of her signature sexy, loud style, the songstress swooped in wearing a Donna Karan Atelier antiqued matte gold and sequined silk tulle gown with a long frothy train.

Lest all that tulle get in the way of her requisite skin-bearing ways, a hip-high slit parted the sea of fabric, allowing her strappy pumps, which wrapped all the way up and over the knee, to lead the charge.

The bondage-inspired shoes also paved the way for the Donna Karan Atelier matching armband, while Lorraine Schwartz jewels, including a barrage of rings, added even more shine to the look.

She perhaps found inspiration in last year’s punk theme for her half-shaven, swept-back platinum ’do.

While this is a softer, more delicate confection, there was no shortage of sultry edge once placed within Rita’s grasp.

Rashida Jones In Tory Burch – 2014 Met Gala

Funny girl, Rashida Jones, struck a pose at the red carpet for the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The ‘Cuban Fury’ comedian went with a Tory Burch lilac gown with off-the-shoulder straps and a layer of sky blue complementing the bottom of the dress.

She styled her hair in what seems to be a faux bob and her deep red lips and nails are the ultimate show stealers. Rashida opted for a minimum of glittery accessories and a matching silver clutch to compliment the look.

Aside from the undeniable old Hollywood glamour, I really miss seeing Jones’ playful personality come through.

What are your thoughts?

Michelle Williams In Louis Vuitton – 2014 Met Gala

Michelle Williams joined the fashion elite on the red carpet at the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The actress wore a shimmering Louis Vuitton dress from the Fall 2014 collection.

While there is no denying this dress is gorgeous, I can’t help but feel it is a bit lackluster next to some of the works-of-art that are going down the red carpet alongside Michelle.

Her coral lips and cheeks, chic bob and classic black pumps and clutch keep the entire look chic and understated.

What do you think? Do you appreciate Michelle’s simplistic approach to the night, or do you wish she had really wow’d us?

Kristen Stewart In Chanel Couture – 2014 Met Gala

Kristen Stewart In Chanel Couture - 2014 Met Gala

Kristen Stewart attended the 2014 Met Gala in New York City on Monday (May 5).

The face of Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2014 campaign donned an edgy Spring 2014 Couture look which brought out a gorgeous smile from the actress.

Kristen’s black and gold sequin, tulle and feather embroidered dress which was styled with Chanel Fine jewels and black Louboutin pumps turned out, with all due respect, better than I expected.

You see, I was worried about the bright orange hair, but it doesn’t play a factor. If anything it enhances it.

Do you agree?

Katie Holmes In Marchesa – 2014 Met Gala

Katie Holmes In Marchesa - 2014 Met Gala

Katie Holmes looks charming on the red carpet of the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The actress chose a bright mustard yellow Marchesa Fall 2014 gown. The dramatic off-the-shoulder shape and ruching is accented by dainty beaded detailing at the waist. Harry Winston jewels add another dimension to this daring ensemble.

Katie’s tousled locks offset the boldness of the gown, which is an edgy trend that I happen to love. Her hair and makeup is stunning, however, I’m not sold on the color of the gown. I do adore the silhouette on her, though. I would prefer to see Katie in emerald green or ruby red. Do you agree?

Elizabeth Olsen In Miu Miu – 2014 Met Gala

Elizabeth Olsen In Miu Miu - 2014 Met Gala

Elizabeth Olsen also attended the 2014 Met Gala, hosted this evening (May 5) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

In a sea of sweeping gowns, the starlet stood out for her head-to-toe Miu Miu look, eschewing a long dress in favour of a custom-designed pale blue mini, encrusted with heavy-handed crystal embroidery along the décolleté and sleeves.

In what can only be explained by the signature quirk of Miuccia Prada, Elizabeth paired the pastel frock with primary colours via red and yellow satin strappy sandals.

Not content to stop there, another strange, clashing tone was added via a metal-framed turquoise satin clutch.

While from the neck up, Elizabeth was rather lovely with her smokey mauve eye and red lip, the rest of the ensemble had about as much appeal as a figure-skating costume, which is to say, hardly any at all.

From the failed illusion nude neckline to the over-the-top glittery embellishment and the long sleeves that came to a diamond point at the hand, all this look was missing was a pair of ice skates.

Bee Shaffer In Alexander McQueen – 2014 Met Gala

"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

Bee Shaffer joined many of the biggest names in fashion and Hollywood on the red carpet at the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

Anna Wintour’s daughter wore a custom Alexander McQueen in pale blue washed duchesse satin with a dramatic tulle mermaid-inspired skirt.

The cool-as-ice color, the asymmetry, and the total drama here make this a stunning addition to a night full of high fashion.

I do wish that Bee had opted for something a bit more dramatic with her hair, but perhaps the simple chignon was the way to go to make sure the dress got all the attention.
