Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Drew Barrymore didn’t walk the red carpet at the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards held in LA this weekend.

Instead we got to see her on stage as she accepted the 2010 Vanguard Award.

I’m grateful for this picture because we I can drool over her stunning pink cap sleeve Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2010 dress with pink and silver paillette embroidery, plus a pink thin belt.

The dress with a pleated skirt was modified from the runway as the neckline is different.

I’m glad for this change because the runway look would’ve aged Drew.

I can picture Ms Wintour pulling off the runway version perfectly.

With her long blonde locks, Drew paired her look with silver strappy sandals.

I absolutely adore this look.

Victoria Beckham first wore this violet Giral strapless dress from her Fall 2009 collection during filming for “American Idol” back in August of last year.

I like the way that this dress creates some curves on the otherwise emaciated star.

However I would have like her to have worn a less severe hairstyle.

She obviously loves this design as she also wore it in black over the same weekend.

Katherine Jenkins was next to wear this dress to the “GQ Men Of The Year Awards” in London.

I like the black metallic shoes she’s teamed it with as they compliment the colour of the dress really well.

I also think that her hair is the best here, swept back off her face but still delicate.

Drew Barrymore then wore this dress in November to a screening of “Everybody’s Fine” in LA.

I’m not really getting the accessories – why the dress pin?

The satin Casadei heels work for me though.

I can’t decide if I like the red lips either. Maybe she should have let the purple do the talking.

To be honest, nobody has me drooling but I think Katherine wins as it seems to suit her the most.

What do you think?

Worst Make-Up Award
I don’t mind a nude lip, but a fully nude face – and a shiny one at that – No.

I was drooling over Drew Barrymore’s Monique Lhuillier blue strapless gown.

The fitted bodice, the tiered skirt with the stunning embroidered detail all screamed Best Dressed, but the make-up kills this look stone dead for me.

Such a shame because her hair is gorgeous too.

Best Dressed Award

I was a bit underwhelmed by this red carpet until I saw Diane Kruger.

Ever since I attended the Christian Lacroix Spring 2009 Couture show in January last year I’ve been praying to see this gown on the red carpet.

Diane more than does this stunning pink ombre gown justice. The colour really pops on the soggy red carpet on a cold and rainy night in LA.

I love the sleek old Hollywood hairstyle. She was really out to impress.

Her white Raven Kauffman Couture clutch matched the pretty white bow on the side of her dress.

Most Predictable Award

There would’ve been no prizes for guessing that Marion Cotillard would wear Christian Dior.

Style.com even predicted that exact dress she would wear.

Being the face of ‘Lady Dior’ helps, plus when we see her in Dior we always get spectacular results.

Her petrol green satin asymmetrical Spring 2010 dress has a thigh-high split with a black négligée peeping through.

Jimmy Choo ‘Drake’ sandals and Chopard jewels complete her look.

Biggest Shock Award

Courteney Cox walked the red carpet last night wearing a black strapless dress from Victoria Beckham’s Spring 2010 collection.

Like most pieces from VB’s collection the dress was well structured and had a ‘top to hem’ zipper along the back.

I liked the jeweled detail on the empire waist, and the chic updo Courteney sported.

Normally I don’t care much for Courteney on the red carpet, but she really surprised me by how great she looked.

She carried a black Jimmy Choo ‘Tube’ clutch.

Her husband actor David Arquette dutifully kept her dry from the pouring rain.

Best Couture Award

This is definitely one of those ‘better on screen look’s.  Unfortunately the picture isn’t doing Drew Barrymore any favours.

Her Atelier Versace Fall 2009 one shoulder champagne gown was stunning.

The nude corset was covered by a nude crystallized overlay, with two clusters of glass fringes on the shoulder and the hip.

Her hair was swept back as not to interfere with the details, as the actress wore Lorraine Schwartz jewels to complete her look.

It’s A Grower Award

I’ve been going back and forth with Julianne Moore.

I was just about to put her on the Worst Dressed list, when I decided that her Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2008 dress wasn’t as bad as I first thought.  Mostly because she looks so elegant.

The grey colour initially put me off this silk bustier gown, but I really like the pleated lace detailed neckline and her green Bvlgari earrings were magnificent.

Black suede Balenciaga stingray sandals complete the look.

Beautiful, Even When Slightly Wet Award

Chloe Sevigny would’ve been the most worried about getting her rose Valentino sleeveless gown wet as it would’ve deflated those beautiful ruffles.

But she was lucky to have a someone to help shield her dress from the rain.

Buccellati jewels complete the look.

Va Va Voom ‘Jessica Rabbit’ Award

Christina Hendricks has the most amazing body, which she always dresses so well.

She leaves me breathless in this stunning Christian Siriano Spring 2010 gown which was custom-made to hug those delicious curves.

She carried a Christian Loubuotin ‘Kephron’ silver clutch and wore Loree Rodkin jewels. Read more…

Whenever I see a sexy Emilio Pucci dress on the red carpet it always makes a huge impact – think Zoe Saldana and Kate Hudson.

Whilst Drew Barrymore’s dress doesn’t given me the same wow factor, she still looked beautiful in her multi-coloured sequin mini dress.

The long sleeved dress not only has a cold-shoulder, but it also has a slashed detail on the back.

Tights and the celebrities favourite ankle boots complete the look.

Kate Hudson’s ‘just got out of bed hair’ didn’t work for me earlier, but Drew’s does here.

LOOK…no mermaid hem, which will make many of you happy.

Kate Beckinsale glided down the red carpet looking so very sophisticated wearing a Lanvin Fall 2009 strapless dress, which has been modified from the runway.

The grey off-the-shoulder tulle runway detail has been incorporated into the bodice of Kate’s dress, she loses the runway belt, and her tulle hemline is neater.

Stunning antique jewels and grey suede YSL Trib Two’s complete the look.

Breath-taking as always.
