2014 amfAR New York Gala Models Roundup

2014 amfAR New York Gala Models Roundup

Here is a roundup of the rest of the ladies who took to the red carpet for the 2014 amfAR New York Gala held at Cipriani Wall Street on Wednesday (February 5) in New York City.

Karolina Kurkova: The Czech model looked stunning wearing a black Armani dress slashed on both the thigh and bodice, with both enriched by beaded detailing. Neutral makeup and bow-accented Jimmy Choo ‘Escape’ sandals completed her look.

Ajak Deng: Also wearing black with breathtaking results was Ajak Deng. Gearing up for a busy fashion month, she started off on the right note wearing a sparkling Kaufmanfranco Fall 2013 gown with sheer inserts which is very much on the right side of sexy.

Dree Hemingway: While everyone was wearing a gown, Dree marched to the beat of her own drum, wearing a super chic Chloé Resort 2014 look featuring a navy top, white ruffled shirt and loose-fit pants. She was my second favourite at this event after Lily Alridge.

Canon’s Project Imaginat10n Film Festival

Canon's Project Imaginat10n Film Festival

Canon’s Project Imaginat10n Film Festival at Alice Tully Hall in New York City was something of a Marchesa fest yesterday evening.

Georgina Chapman: Led by the designer herself, Georgina wore a black Fall 2013 fitted column-style Marchesa tulle cocktail dress with all-over floral embroidery and draped off-shoulder sleeves styled with signature accessories: Christian Louboutin pumps and a Marchesa quartz-clasp clutch. A half-up half-down hairdo perfected this romantic look.

Eva Longoria: As always, I gave a big sigh before writing out a critique for Eva Longoria. What she gives via her lush Marchesa raspberry strapless cocktail dress with 3D silk ribbon roses and bugle-bead twine embroidery along the neckline, she takes away with the oversized floral-print Marchesa envelope clutch.

Dree Hemingway: The model had no such issue, looking heavenly wearing a pale-blue slip dress with asymmetrical organza ruffles with a pale-blue organza collared tee shirt overlay. Opting to go matchy-matchy with the Marchesa clutch and glitter sandals, she added a vampy rouge lip colour to her stunning look.

Abigail Spencer: Rounding out a quartet of dames in Marchesa cocktail dresses, the ‘Suits’ actress wore a red strapless fitted frock with tonal French-knot and chenille threadwork embroidery, which she also styled with a Marchesa clutch, and white pumps to ensure the trend doesn’t die.

I do love each of the looks; it’s such a shame Eva’s styling let the side down, but 3 out of 4 ain’t bad.

The Sixth Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

The Sixth Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic took place on Saturday in Jersey City.

Last year’s event was so well turned out with stars wearing summery LWDs, but this year there was just a mishmash of looks, with not all seeming to befit the occasion.

Dree Hemingway: The model donned denim overalls, channelling her inner mechanic. She did style the look well with a Sophia Webster ‘Hold Me Speech Bubble’ leather clutch and platform heels.

Camila Alves: It’s been a while since we saw this style of Herve Leger dress on the red carpet. As beautiful as the TV host looks in this yellow-hued dress, all I can think about is Heidi Montag, who used to wear these dresses religiously.

Ashley Olsen: No surprises that the designer wore an oversized vintage look. While I do find myself liking this gold-embroidered red kaftan, which she styled with The Row accessories and Hermes shoes, a belt and some heels would’ve improved the look.

Julia Restoin Roitfeld: You may instantly recognise Julia’s Dolce & Gabbana floral frock. That’s because Lea Seydoux wore it last week during Cannes Film Festival. Julia styled her look with green wedges and a white Dolce & Gabbana bag. This is the only look I liked at this event.

Chanel Tribeca Film Festival Artists Dinner

Chanel Tribeca Film Festival Artists Dinner

Chanel hosted a dinner party to celebrate the Tribeca Film Festival artists in New York City yesterday evening.

Alexa Chung: The TV presenter was of course at the event, wearing a charming beige tweed Chanel Spring 2013 dress with pearl buttons. Her styling was to be expected, with a Chanel quilted bag and dual-colour beige-and-black Chanel Mary Jane pumps.

Shala Monroque: The Prada/Miu Miu devotee clearly didn’t read the invite. The fashion editor opted to wear a Miu Miu nude embellished dress from the Spring 2010 collection, which she accented with a large beetle brooch. You may remember that Kerry Washington’s Golden Globe dress was inspired by this collection. I am usually a big fan of Shala’s style, but the heavy blazer, floral-accented Jesus sandals and blue bag are not working for me at all.

Kiernan Shipka: Out on a school night for the third night in a row, the young ‘Mad Man’ actress wore a denim dress with chequered trims from the Spring 2013 collection. Black booties and a hot-pink Chanel bag keeps this look youthful.

Who Wore Miu Miu Better…Emma Watson or Dree Hemingway?

Emma Watson wore a laidback head-to-toe Miu Miu look for the Tribeca Film Festival premiere for ‘Struck By Lightning’ back in late April.

The British actress teamed what could be regarded as a mismatch of prints combining a white blouse with a sky blue A-line mini skirt, toughening up the look with a Miu Miu leather jacket.

A pink leather clutch and satin peep-toes, both by Miu Miu, and a bold red lip colour completed her look.

Dree Hemingway wore the same Miu Miu skirt during the Hamptons Film Festival screening of ‘The Girl’ last month.

The model/actress teamed her skirt with a simple grey sweater and tan brogues.

For keeping the look super simple and effortless, Dree wins for me.

Dree Hemingway In Miu Miu – ‘The Girl’ Hamptons Film Festival Screening

It may be hard to believe, but Dree Hemingway also attended the ‘The Girl’ screening, during the 20th Hamptons Film Festival at United Artists Regal Cinema in East Hampton, New York, on Saturday evening with Sienna Miller.

I say that because their styles couldn’t be more different.

Dree’s just-thrown-on look is totally opposite to Sienna’s more polished look.

The model sported a simple grey sweater paired with a Miu Miu printed A-line skirt and brown Oxford lace up shoes.

You may remember that Emma Watson wore the same skirt back in April.
