Runway To Sidewalk Allegra & Donatella Versace In Versace

The reason Rihanna was all dressed up in Gareth Pugh this week, was because she was headed to Allegra Versace’s 23rd birthday party at the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York.

Allegra wore a neon pink Versace Fall 2009 long-sleeved dress with a shimmering nude clutch, and nude suede heels.

You’ll notice that much like her mother’s Versace pieces Allegra dress is slightly modified.

The silver detail on the waist of the runway version is replaced with a pink satin panel.

Donatella obviously past down her wisdom of modifying pieces to her daughter, as the designer does this with every piece she wears.

In this case she has modified this stunning white zipper strapless Spring 2009 dress into a one-shoulder dress.  A tiny change yes, but one that makes her stand out from everyone else who owns this dress.

The designer completes her look with a pair of slate grey platform heels from her own Fall 2009 collection.

Runway To Grazia Party – Donatella Versace in Versace

Donatella Versace always looks outstanding. She oozes sexy glamour which is modern mixed with 80s charm.

What I love about her most is the way she adapts looks from the runway to suit her own unique style. You will never see her in a runway look.  But then I believed that Jennifer Aniston would never wow me, and we all know how that turned out.

At a Grazia Party held at Villa Necchi last week in Milan the designer wore this gold one-shouldered dress from her Spring 2009 collection.

Nearly all the elements of the runway look featured in her dress: the colour, the one-shoulder detail and the asymmetrical bodice, but her dress has a pencil skirt whilst the runway version has a bell-shaped skirt.

Yes it’s a very small detail, but a detail that makes this look simply and exclusively Donatella’s.

Tres chic.

2009 Cannes Film Festival – amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Benefit

Creating a sensation at the charity benefit, Diane Kruger looked outstanding in a white Chanel Spring 2009 Couture ensemble.

For me it doesn’t have the same impact as her Marchesa gown which made my heart melt, but she still looks amazing.

I love the square shouldered cropped jacket, the cute black bow – which we know she loves – and the interesting shaped skirt, which reveals a lace lining.

A bejeweled clutch and Louboutin’s complete the look.

With so many great dresses this week, would it be fair to include both Diane’s looks in Best Dressed of the Week?

Only Dita von Teese can get away with wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2009 Couture dress, with a transparent skirt revealing her garter.

That’s because she oozes class and chic sophistication.

I’m much more inspired by her in this dress than her previous Dior Couture dress.

I love Marion Cotillard, and her association with Dior is a match made in heaven but I would have loved something more dramatic from her.

Her pale blue Christian Dior Fall 2009 embroidered gown is gorgeous, as it brightens up her complexion.

You know saying, “Take one thing off before you leave the house”?

Well Paris Hilton should have taken off 3.

The headband, the necklace and the bracelet.

Her Basil Soda Spring 2009 Couture gown is already dripping with embellishments around the waist, that she needn’t have over cooked it.

This gown is quite dark and dramatic for Paris. I’m surprised she didn’t pick something more sugary.

Donatella Versace’s modification on her Versace Fall 2009 cornflower blue gown are very subtle.

I prefer her softer blue strapless gown.

The bodice is longer plus her gown has a fuller skirt.

I’m a constant admirer of how immaculate she always looks.

Michelle Yeoh opted for a purple satin Atelier Versace Fall 2008 gown with ruffled details on the shoulders and an open back.

She kept her jewelery minimal, with a few diamonds on the bracelet and earrings.

All my diva’s are going red.

First Coco Rocha, now Eva Green.

Is red the new black?

I’ve love Eva since she first stepped on the red carpet. She’s such a daredevil when it come to fashion. But on this occasion not so much.

Don’t get me wrong, I love her fuschia pink Christian Dior Fall 2009 Indian inspired gown with intricate embroidered details, but if ever their was someone to wear one of Dior’s Spring 2009 Couture ball gowns on the red carpet, this was our girl.

Elsa Pataky’s Armani Prive Fall 2008 black and white striped strapless gown may look a bit tame from the front, but that’s because all the drama is at the back, as it gathers then falls to a fishtail hem.

There would have been no prizes for guessing that Eva Herzigova would wear Dolce & Gabbana to this event. Much like her supermodel chum Claudia Schiffer.

Her Spring 2009 corseted red dress, had more sass than the runway version.

Hers was strapless and shorter to show off those impossibly long legs.

As much as Lily Cole is wearing a beautiful Emilio Pucci Fall 2009 strapless gown, she fails to excite.

Many of you have remarked that you would love for Georgina Chapman to modify her gowns, to make herself more individual, and stand out from the runway and her clients like Donatella Versace.

Unfortunately she didn’t hear your pleas on this occasion, because she wore a gold lame Marchesa Spring 2009 asymmetrical gown as it was presented on the runway plus the gold Louboutin’s.

Whatever the weather, she always looks outstanding, and here is no exception.

It feels strange calling anything by Chanel casual, but Anna Mouglalis’ blood red Chanel Cruise 2010 satin dress, feels too casual for such an event.

Kudos to her for wearing a piece from this collection, which was only presented last Thursday.

Margherita Missoni represented her family brand in the way she always does, with style and grace.

Her lurex silvery blue Missoni Spring 2009 gown, with a gold waistband, is a modification of the strapless jumpsuit which was presented on the runway.

Her added gold jewelery, and a matching mini clutch were the perfect touches for added glamour.

L’Oreal girl Kerry Washington takes the baton for the final leg of Cannes Film Festival, after Elizabeth Banks, Aishwarya Rai, Eva Longoria, and Evangeline Lilly represented the brand before her.

Kerry is a vision, as always wearing a strapless deco beaded Marchesa gown paired with a gold Bally box clutch.

Hayden Panettiere arrived at this event wearing a gorgeous blush silk chiffon Marchesa dress with similar silver embroidered details to Diane Kruger’s Marchesa gown.

I love the dress, but even in this picture it feels like the falling train is in the way.

Prior to this event you would have seen Hayden sunbathing on a yacht, relaxing with friends and topping up her tan.

Unfortunately it’s left unsightly tan lines.

I’m loving the vacation glow, but a hint of lippy would have worked wonders.

Zoe Saldana opted for a nude dress with a gathered detail on the hip, whilst she paired her look with copper accessories.

Sharon Stone has never looked better, but next time she should consider tanning her legs, before opting for a thigh high split. Her arm appears to be a different shade to her legs.

Despite all that the annual host for this event look magnificent wearing an asymmetrical Dior gown, with silver strappy Dior heels.

Claudia Schiffer stays faithful to her boys Dolce & Gabbana, wearing this tulle black bustier gown.

You’ll be happy to see that she’s keeping the bangs for now.

Zhang Ziyi’s ethereal nude gown is so delicious on her. The colour is exquisite complimenting her skin tone.

Her hair was pulled back off her face to reveal a long earring, and a diamond stud. How very 80s Janet Jackson.

I’m not quite getting the wow factor from Carine Roitfeld, which I got last year, but she still looks fantastic wearing this white Givenchy Couture gown.

I’m wondering has anyone ever seen her with her hair up?

Rinko Kikuchi wears a grey ruffled Chanel Fall 2008 Couture dress with really heavy clunky heels.

Shu Qi wears my least favourite gown of her Cannes experience.

All good runs come to a crashing end.

Case in point Robin Wright Penn in this charcoal spaghetti strapped gown.

Who Wore Atelier Versace Better? Donatella Versace or Eva Herzigova

Donatella Versace looked sensational wearing her own slightly modified Atelier Versace Spring 2009 nude paillette covered gown, to the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner nearly two weeks ago.

Her gown didn’t have the same cut-out detail as the presented gown, which Eva Herzigova wore to the Looking For Eric premiere during Cannes Film Festival.

Eva’s make-up was to heavy, plus the fuschia peep-toes don’t work for me, so Donatella wins this.

White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner

What a magnificent way to start the week, with an amazing burst of colour.

Michelle Obama wore a Michael Kors magenta wool crepe gown, with an exquisite necklace, which had a magenta matching floral piece.

This is the second time within a week, Mrs. Obama has worn Michael Kors. The black gown she wore to the TIME 100 Gala last Tuesday in New York, was also by the American designer.

Kerry Washington arrived wearing a navy blue pleated J.Mendel Fall 2009 strapless gown, with stunning gold accessories.

The gown had a tiered peplum at the waist, and a mermaid hem.

I don’t think this is the most flattering dress for Kerry – especially from the long shot – but she still makes it work.

This taupe one-shouldered Versace Pre-Fall 2009 gown is simply gorgeous, as it skims the well toned body of Demi Moore.

Her look was complete with a matching Roger Vivier clutch, with sparkles with the embellished details on her gown.

Katie Holmes opted an ivory ensemble, including a blazer, satin top, and full-length skirt, from her co-designed Holmes-Yang collection.

Her event appropriate look was accented with gold Boucheron accessories.

Eva Longoria wore a frothy gown, with tiny spaghetti straps in this seasons hottest colour -nude.

The Ports 1961 gown is outstanding, but it feels like it’s completely swamping Eva’s tiny frame.

Mariska Hargitay wore an off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera Spring 2009 black, white and grey lace chiffon gown, covered in floral appliqués.

Her sweeping updo, gave this gown the final touch of elegance, to complete this perfect look.

Alicia Keys wore a black and white Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2009 cocktail dress, with the signature black criss cross detail on the bodice.

Alicia lets the dress speak for itself, by only adding a black clutch to complete her look.

Amber Tamblyn would have been the center of attraction, wearing a vivid red Carolina Herrera Spring 2009 gown.

I love the way the ruffles cascade down the gown, plus the ruby drop earrings, but she lets herself down with her hair.

Natalie Portman wore a very interesting black Balenciaga Fall 2004 halter-neck gown.

The halter part is attached to the rest of the dress with 2 very thin straps.

Keisha Whitaker arrived with her husband Forest Whitaker, also wearing a vivid red gown, from the Badgley Mischka Pre-Fall 2009 collection.

Rashida Jones wore a LBD with flutter sleeves, and a ruffled detail going across the skirt.

She completes her look with a silver jewels, and Manolo Blahnik Pepe sandals.

Say what you want about Donatella Versace, for me she’s always impeccable.

This outstanding paillette covered nude self designed halter gown, is case in point. Already a contender for Best Dressed Of The Week.

Elizabeth Banks opted for a very subtle, understated look, wearing a teal one-shouldered Alberta Ferretti gown, accented with a silver bejeweled belt, which matched her leaf earrings and box clutch.

Tyra Banks’ look was too office chic for me. In a room full of luscious gowns, I expected much more from her.

I will say that her hair is a huge improvement from the Met Gala last week.

Glenn Close was so graceful wearing a white Giorgio Armani Spring 2005 gown, covered with black Asian text.

Wanda Sykes was one of the guest speakers of the night. She arrived in a navy blue silk suit, and her trademark hairstyle.

She had the guests rolling on the floor with laughter with her risky jokes. You can watch the video’s here.

Fashion Fringe 2009 Launch Party

We all know that Donatella Versace never wears a runway dress, instead she modifies pieces and totally makes them unique to her.

In this case her white asymmetrical dress is a asymmetrical gown and a white strapless dress, which were both presented during her Spring 2009 collection, merged into one dress.

Model Jacquetta Wheeler wore a simple black tank top and gold buckled belt, with her Luella Spring 2009 skirt.

The gorgeous purple skirt with a gold pattern is with pleated frills, to give a whimsical feel to her overall look.

Natalia Vodianova could have really done without the leggings with her taupe coloured Versace Spring 2009 mini dress.

Like Katie Holmes’ recent Jason Wu look, the leggings totally ruin this for me.

I have done a post on The Never Changing Hairstyle Of Amanda Bynes, and many of you have expressed a need to do a similar post for Claudia Schiffer.

Yes her hair is glossy and gorgeous, but it never changes. Even in her latest Salvatore Ferragamo ad campaign, her hairstyle remains the same.

The model posed wearing a black pant suit, and a polka dotted blouse. Her nude accessories really stood out from her dark look.

I must say I am very surprised that both Natalia and Claudia weren’t at the Valentino New York premiere, they usually follow him everywhere.
