The Art of Elysium presents John Legend’s HEAVEN Gala

As to be expected, there was a rush of stars at the 11th annual edition of The Art of Elysium Presents John Legend’s HEAVEN was held on Saturday (January 6) in Santa Monica, California.

Ashley Madekwe: I was a bit surprised to see Ashley donning the Rodarte Fall 2017 look that Nicole Kidman wore to the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. I will say the proportions of the glittery, ruffled look seemed a bit better suited to Ashley.

Rooney Mara: The actress looks to be continuing 2018 with her favoured colour palette of black and white with this Givenchy Spring 2018 lace-accented, asymmetrical dress.

Vanessa Hudgens: I like the enchanting sweep of this Alberta Ferretti Fall 2017 cape gown styled with an Emm Kuo clutch. What betrays the look a bit is the heavy-handed, rust-hued eye makeup, which is a bit too much in the red colour family.

Dita Von Teese In Vintage John Galliano – Rimowa x Alexandre Arnault Pop-Up Event

Dita Von Teese went back to the archives for the Rimowa x Alexandre Arnault Pop-Up Event on Tuesday (December 12) in LA.

Not only was she wearing a vintage John Galliano Spring 1995 micro-check design, it happens to be a look she’s worn before.

But when the classic elegance is this high, can we really fault her?

Personally, I couldn’t have been happier about it.

The dress oozed with just as much sultry-sophisticated allure the second time out. I love how the cascading detail at the hip just portrays so much sweeping movement.

As before, she finished off the look with more drama in the opera gloves.

Dita von Teese In Jean Paul Gaultier Couture – ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ LA Premiere

Dita von Teese was one of the surprise attendees for the ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ premiere on Saturday (December 9) in Los Angeles, California.

The burlesque star wore a Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2017 Couture look that was Bollywood-inspired, while also paying homage to Princess Leia’s iconic hooded dress.

I love how the gold accessories and beading bring – what is essentially draped black velvet fabric – alive.

amfAR Los Angeles 2017

A crush of stars came out for amfAR Los Angeles 2017 on Friday (October 13) in Beverly Hills, California.

Heidi Klum: At this point, I’m always prepared to be disappointed with a Heidi look, but she actually stepped up to the plate in this Ralph & Russo Fall 2017 Couture gown that was a far more modern and sophisticated form of glittery glam for her.  The look was of course styled with Lorraine Schwartz  jewels.

Dita Von Teese: Designer Ulyana Sergeenko and Dita are a perfect match, as can be seen in this Demi-Couture gown that prizes the feminine form with its provocative bustier silhouette and seductive thigh slit.

Kate Hudson: Playing to her buzz cut, Kate kept it cool and mod in this David Koma Resort 2018 gown that scintillated with mirror-like embellishment.  A Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch completed her look.

Irving Penn Exhibition Private Viewing Hosted by Vogue

A private viewing, hosted by Vogue, for the Irving Penn exhibition at the Grand Palais was held on Sunday (October 1) during Paris Fashion Week.

Adwoa Aboah: Taking a break from walking the runways at Paris Fashion Week, Adwoa posed in a Richard Quinn Spring 2018 look that offered an invigorating, happy mix of ditzy florals. You would think with so many bold, competing prints that this would translate as disjointed. But, on the contrary, I loved this look on Adwoa, and I also credit its success to her minimal approach to the styling, with a black sandal and red pout all she needed. Flower power, indeed.

Kylie Minogue: I think it’s safe to say that Kylie put this Alice McCall ‘More Than A Woman’ fringe gown to work for her—as it was made to be spun around. As fun as it was, I was a bit tassel fatigued and the muted, mauve-pink colour wasn’t my favourite for the vibrancy of the entertainer, but she attempted to bring a splash of vividness via her lipstick.

Dita von Teese: With a look that riffed on the field-of-poppies print from the Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2017 Couture collection, Dita maximized proportions with this look. I have mixed feelings on the balloon sleeves, as they might be lumped into a costume-y circus category. But, the colours were striking in contrast to the black pencil skirt.

Who Wore Alexis Mabille Couture Better…Dita von Teese or Lea Seydoux?

Who Wore Alexis Mabille Couture Better Dita von Teese or Lea Seydoux

Dita von Tesse wore this elegant black Alexis Mabille Couture tuxedo gown while attending the ‘Global Gift Gala’ back in May 2013.

A litte over two years later, Lea Seydoux wore the same dress in white which saw her take a rare Miu Miu/Prada pause during her promo tour for ‘Spectre’.

As much as I love Dita, everything about the look is expected, which is quite the opposite when it comes to Lea, so she wins for me.
