Jennifer Connelly In Louis Vuitton – 2017 Met Gala

Jennifer Connelly attended the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1).

The actress wore a Louis Vuitton dress with black boots and dramatic waterfall earrings.

Is this the point in the night where I start yelling ‘this isn’t avant garde’? Because this dress is really fabulous and fun for a hundred different occasions, but it’s simple too, well, simple for me to get on board with it for tonight’s grand affair.

While I feel the dress miss the night’s mark, those earrings, her red eyeshadow and super sleeked back hair are fabulous, and really causing me to question what fountain of youth Jennifer must have found!

So what do you think? Was this dress a good choice for tonight, or no?

Felicity Jones In Erdem – 2017 Met Gala

Felicity Jones brought her own fields of lavender to the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1) in New York City.

Tiny flowers floated across her bespoke Erdem gown, adding a lighter, whimsical spirit to its Victorian-style touches.

While I was enchanted by the vividness of the periwinkle-blue colour and how it breathed life into Felicity’s brunette locks and skin tone, the rest of the dress was hit or miss.

My main objection to the look lies in the diagonal ruffles across the hip, as they translated as overwrought and unflattering on an already fabric-intensive dress. Would you agree?

Kate Bosworth In Tory Burch – 2017 Met Gala

Kate Bosworth dialed up the fashion drama at the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1).

She actress wore a black Tory Burch gown with plenty of volume and structural elements.

I am typically obsessed with Kate’s style choices, but this one, I can’t get 100% behind. While I’m fairly certain there are some pretty cool design elements at work with this dress, the fabric and color simply don’t translate well to images, and I honestly can’t tell.

And while having a moment in-person is of course important, how a gown photographs is equally as important, and this reads quite flat–even in the face of so much apparent texture.

As for her beauty styling, no one pulls off a completely sleeked back bun quite like Kate, and her radiant skin, coral eyeshadow and bold raspberry lips are a dream–and the perfect look for a black gown.

Julianne Moore In Calvin Klein By Appointment – 2017 Met Gala

Julianne Moore went for a playful look at the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1).

The actress wore a dreamy, feathery Calvin Klein by Appointment gown with dramatic ‘winged’, white peep-toe sandals.

Julianne is always one of my favorite at any big red carpet event, and tonight is no different. I love that her dress is short in a sea of long-hem drama, and those feathers? I mean, they bring a burst of energy to the carpet, and that is no small fete on a night as chock full of artistic expression as tonight.

The color story is also truly inspired, and while I’m not always on board with matching, those tear-drop earrings in the same red and yellow tones are the perfect final touch to this look.

Are you adoring Ms. Moore as much as I?

Emily Ratajkowski In Marc Jacobs – 2017 Met Gala

Emily Ratajkowski attended the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1) in New York City.

Mermaid colours melded with Van Gogh-esque Impressionist blurs in this sequined Marc Jacob gown.

I loved this look for its vibrancy of hue on Emily and for its silhouette that saw the star offer up a more subtly seductive allure—sans skin-baring high slits and plunging necks.

A stunning array of eye-candy rings and hoop earrings along with waterfall waves and the thin echo of bright blue liner across her eyes were a striking finish for the look.
