Claire Danes graces the the September Fall 2009 fashion issue of Blackbook Magazine, modeling the current ’80s revival in high fashion.

The shoot was inspired by the ‘Greed Decade’ and displays the actress’ inner sexiness, a side of her we don’t see too often.

In her interview Claire talks about her upcoming wedding to Hugh Dancy to be held in France and her upcoming film projects.

Claire is set to star in the Richard Linklater directed movie “Me and Orson Welles” which also stars Zac Efron.

On Narciso Rodriguez designing her wedding dress: “I’ve known Narciso since I was 16, and he’s made a lot of dresses with and for me. So it’s really special that this time it’s the dress.”

Vogue Australia 50th Anniversary Dinner, Syndey

Unfortunately we didn’t get any dramatic looks, no picks from our Red Carpet Wish lists and no couture from Cate Blanchett at this event, but regardless it’s always a treat to see her on the red carpet.

She looks outstanding wearing a burnt orange long sleeved vintage Ossie Clark gown with an ivory necklace.

“A Streetcar Named Desire” Press Night, London

Rachel Weisz wore an animal print Isabel Marant Fall 2009 sheer with black peep-toes accented with a gold floral detail.

Although I’m not crazy about the detail on her shoes, I adore her dress, even though it’s showing us her bra.

Isabel Marant make such fabulous pieces.  I hope we see more celebrities wearing their pieces in future.

Out & About, Berlin

Even when she’s out shopping in Berlin, Diane Kruger is still incredibly stylish.

The German actress wore a Stella McCartney Resort 2010 ensemble which included a yellow tank top she wore off-the-shoulder, with a blue striped tulip skirt.

She added flats and a white Chanel quilted bag to complete her ‘off-duty’ look.

I adore her skirt. Another piece added to my never-ending wish list.

X-Games “Red Bull Toasted” Honors Action Sports Icon Travis Pastrana, LA

A LBD as short and tight as this can go so wrong, but I think Audrina Patridge looks amazing in this Michelle Mason Spring 2009 dress.

She’s starting to come into her own now that she’s no longer in Lauren’s shadow.

“Taking Woodstock” New York Premiere

With her long wavy hair falling down her shoulders, Claire Danes wore a blue silk Sonia Rykiel Resort 2010 wrap dress with delicate ruffles.

Her dress is longer than the runway version, which I can’t say I’m surprised about considering we’re talking about Claire Danes.

In keeping with her usual simple style, she only added a platinum bracelet and strappy heels to complete her look.

Lynn Collins has finally been weened off wearing top hats to every red carpet appearance, but she’s replaced that look with a headband.

Wearing a Kova & T green mini dress and nude Brian Atwood Katie Bis sandals I would say her look was great had it not been for the over excessive bronzing.

Dolce & Gabbana: The Make Up Selfridges Launch, London

So now all those Scarlett Johansson posters in Selfridges yesterday make sense, they were prepping for Scarlett’s Dolce & Gabbana make-up launch.

The actress looked very sophisticated and refined in her Dolce & Gabbana ensemble. I especially love her floral flutter sleeve blouse and orange sorbet peep-toes, but I’m still struggling with the hair.

I do usually love Scarlett wearing bold red lips, but I don’t think it quite works with her ensemble.

“JLo for Yamamay” Collection Launch, Rome

Jennifer Lopez was in Rome yesterday to promote her new underwear collection.

The actress wore an ivory chiffon gown with an embellished neckline and a matching Alaia waist belt.

She carried a glittering silver Swarovski clutch which sparkled like her jeweled T-bar sandals.

Her locks were have been lighten with some blonde streaks which I’m not particularly fond of.

How many of you feel like you have seen this look many times before?

Mont Blanc, Austria

Dita von Teese wore a traditional Austrian dirndl while at the Mont Blanc boutique in Salzburg.

It would’ve been great if she’d changed her hairstyle just this once to really get into the spirit of things.

2009 Salzburg Festival – ‘Welcome to Nowhere’ Premiere, Austria

This is the Dita von Teese we’re most used to seeing, looking glamorous wearing a Moschino cream tiered plisse chiffon gown.

AMC Cocktail Reception, LA

Christina Hendricks strikes a stunning pose wearing a emerald Catherine Malandrino pleated empire waist dress with ruffle sleeves.

Gold accessories complete this look.

January Jones wore an interesting sheer Sretsis dress with two diamante bow appliqués to cover her modesty.

I love her hairstyle. Tres chic.

There aren’t enough words in the English dictionary to describe how beautiful Thandie Newton is.

I don’t think I’ve ever dislike anything Thandie has worn. She always looks amazing as she always knows what works well for her shape and skin tone.

She oozes style and grace from every pore. I’m sure she could even make a bin liner looks sexy.

At this party hosted during Paris Couture Fashion Week, the actress wore a stunning Calvin Klein nude dress with a embroidered detail through-out and a gathered detail on the hip.

I wasn’t crazy about this dress on the runway, but Thandie has made me fall in love with it.

Her dress was paired with nude sandals, invisible make-up, a shimmering box clutch and a sleek updo.

Dasha Zhukova maybe dating a Billionaire, but she’s not afraid to wear a dress which is a few season old.

When she looks this good in her nude Burberry Prorsum Spring 2008 dress, why not?

It’s a sexy little number and the colour is complementary to her colouring.

You may remember Emma Watson wore this dress back in February 2008 to the “Burberry & Vanity Fair Portraits” event in London.

Claire Danes always looks simple, elegant, and stylish.

Some of you would – and have – said her style is boring, but she sticks to her trusted formula of classic shift that complement her shape.

July 3rd, 2009

Claire Danes arrived at the Film Independent’s Spirit Awards held at Santa Monica Beach earlier this year wearing a two tone Lanvin Spring 2009 strapless bustier dress, with a gathered skirt.

Her look was made more interesting with a nude Lanvin necklace from the same collection, but dialed down with uninteresting black peep-toes.

Dasha Zhukova opted for the same Lanvin dress when she attended “The Hermitage 20/21 Dinner at Sotheby’s” in London back in April.

She added a simple gold necklace, taupe heels and a box clutch.

Funny woman Chelsea Handler for once wowed me at the “Women In Film’s 2009 Crystal + Lucy Awards” in California when she walked the red carpet wearing the same dress.

This has to be the most sophisticated I have ever seen Chelsea look, as she paired her dress with champagne heels and a Nancy Gonzalez clutch.

Claire is ruled out because of her uninspiring heels.

Dasha wins because she could make a black bin liner look chic, plus her accessories complemented her look better than the other two.

Best Dressed Award
Zoe Saldana continues to impress me. “Star Trek” has push her in the limelight, but her great choices in on the red carpet increase her star status.

Take this Calvin Klein Resort 2010 grey dress for example. It was plain and quite boring on the runway, but Zoe brings it to life.

She makes it sexy and sassy without much effort.

Did It Hurt When You Fell From Heaven? Award
*Sighs*

Could Anja Rubik be anymore beautiful? Anja and Halle Berry should be allow to walk amongst us normal folk.

The stunning supermodel arriving looking angelic wearing a white Kaufman Franco Fall 2009 one-shouldered gown.

She wore the gown without it’s ruffled detail on the behind, which showed how dangerously low the dress was cut.

On some Megan Fox this would have been deemed trashy, but on Anja *sighs* just damn sexy.

Best Use of Colour Award
There’s always a 50/50 split when it comes to Blake Lively.

I hope when you see her looking drop dead gorgeous wearing this neon pink Michael Kors Fall 2009 strapless sheath dress, more of you will be swayed to liking her.

Her twins aren’t on display, she looks youthful, vibrant and sexy.

What’s not to love?

Best Modification Award
Jason Wu really understood his muse for the night, as he took this sophisticated business-like runway dress and turned it into a sexy mini for Diane Kruger.

Diane would look great in a bin liner lets face it, but the colour, length, fabric and embellished embroidered shoulders really looks amazing on her.

I hate to be picky but I really wish she would change her hairstyle more often. I feel like we see this style a lot.

Model Magic Award
Many of you who loved the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2009 collection were non to happy when Rihanna arrived at the Met Gala wearing a black suit from the collection.

Molly Sims should bring that enthusiasm back because she looked so cute and playful wearing a Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2009 strapless dress, with a Marilyn Monroe print emblazoned on it.

Risk That Paid Off Award
This is a rare red carpet outing for Kirsten Dunst.

The actress always opts for bold pieces which don’t always work, but on this occasion she looks amazing.

Rodarte is never a safe choice. The pieces are bold, edgy and dynamic plus you need the right kind of attitude to pull a Rodarte piece off.

She totally does with grey Nicholas Kirkwood heels.

Most Theatrical Award
At first I really disliked Doutzen Kroes in this red Zac Posen gown, mostly because I thought it was too grand for her. Plus I’m so used to seeing her in Herve Leger I didn’t quite think it was her style.

Then I realised how much better the dress looks without the gold belt, and appreciated the way she had made an effort to make the gown work for her.

Best Vintage Award
As much as I appreciate the Olsen twins picking interesting vintage pieces, I would love to see them in something off-the-runway more often.

Ashley Olsen wore an orange vintage gown with gold leaf embroidery around the shoulders. Her look was complete with Van Cleef & Arpels jewels and Versace heels.

Some might say it’s a little too big for her. I would say it’s better than a bandage dress.

Glorious Glow Award
Even if Heidi Klum wasn’t pregnant and wearing a silver crushed lame Michael Kors asymmetrical mini dress, she would still glow. So these added elements only make her more beautiful.

Her silver Christian Louboutin Anthracite Ole Ole heels and clutch matched her dress, but it’s her earrings I’m drooling over.

Best Black Award
Claire Danes is never one I can get excited about on the red carpet, but I do love her quiet elegant style. Some would call it boring, for me is very understated.

The actress looked elegant wearing a black Narciso Rodriguez embroidered black silk crepe gown which was cut low at the front and open at the back.

Best Legs Award
Model Hilary Rhoda arrived wearing a gorgeous one-shouldered Calvin Klein dress which showed off how incredibly long her pins are.

If you got it flaunt it honey.

Her look was completed with her hair pulled back in a tight bun and a VBH clutch.

Stepping Out Of Her Comfort Zone Award
Maggie Grace is usually very boring on the red carpet, so imagine my surprise to see her wearing this Christian Siriano Spring 2009 grey ruffled confection.

Every time I see a variation of this dress on the red carpet it’s belted.

It would be nice to see it without a belt if its worn again in the future, but the belt does work for Maggie here.

Best Accessories Award
Stylist Rachel Zoe arrived wearing a Louis Vuitton peachy gown, which I first thought was a Marc Jacobs gown as it resembles the finale gowns that were presented in the Spring 2009 collection, but her twitter message confirm that it’s Louis Vuitton.

Her golden accessories including a Louis Vuitton clutch, vintage Chanel earrings, plus Yossi Harari rings and bracelets.

Simple Yet Always Elegant Award
Kerry Washington has opted for a lot of bold choices lately wearing Louis Vuitton edgy ensembles, so it’s nice to see her bring her look back to a softer more elegant style we usually associate her with.

Last night she glowed wearing a silverly grey Doo.Ri Resort 2010 sleeveless gown with a plunging neckline.

Her jewels were also simple and she opted for a matching silver Swarovski clutch.

Best Embellishments Award
Whist Melissa George’s Nicole Miller gown has no shape, I am totally captivated by the embroidered crystals on her strapless gown.  Exquisite.

Black to Black Award
Yes I’m referring to Coco Rocha hair, which she debut on her blog a few weeks ago.

The supermodel wore an asymmetrical Michael Kors red Resort 2010 slide dress with a black print.

Her look was paired with a gold cuff, black strappy sandals and a matching clutch.

The Wow Moment Award
Comedian Tracey Ullman really shocked me when I saw her in this glorious red Doo.Ri gown with an asymmetrical neckline.

I don’t think I have ever seen her look so fabulous.

No BoHo Award
Finally Whitney Port has ditched that hippy chick look, for a fresh sophisticated look wearing a Luca Luca Fall 2009 halter gown.

The draped silver beaded gown sparkled so beautifully. She really out did herself here. I’m totally wowed by her

May 6th, 2009

I know many don’t share my love for Michelle Obama style choices, as many of you are still reeling over her wearing a cardigan to meet the Queen of England, but I did sigh with admiration when I saw her at this event.

The First Lady wore a simple black sleeveless Michael Kors gown, with a Peter Sorenon corset, accessorizing with multiple strands of necklaces, and simple diamond studs.

She wore her hair pulled back, her poise was authoritative, yet she’s so incredibly charming.

I curse the stand being in front of her, because I think the most interesting part of the dress is the corset around her waist, which gives her dress very a defined shape.

Oh Mrs O….*sighs*

Kate Hudson, one of Stella McCartney’s Met Gala Angels on Monday night, arrived wearing a sexy ivory Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2009 suit, consisting of a herringbone jacket, trousers and silk blouse.

Her look was complete with her hair tied back loosely, and gold Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toes.

I would’ve loved to have seen Kate rock this suit without the blouse, but it won’t have been appropriate for this particular occasion.

I wish to thank Liv Tyler for restoring my faith in this particular Stella McCartney Fall 2009 lace cut-out dress.

On the runway it was grey, and the illusion was too milky to be considered an illusion.

I love Liv’s black version, which she playful poses in showing of her Cartier ring.

Time 100 Honoree Stella McCartney, is quite possibly one of the coolest chicks on this planet.

She was of course head-to-toe in her own pieces consisting of a black cotton t-shirt, black lace embroidered skirt, organza shrug and black strappy platform sandals.

The shrug and skirt are so divine.

Diane Sawyer’s look oozes sophistication wearing a black off-the-shoulder top, with a ivory and black striped skirt.

Jimmy Fallon arrived with his gorgeous wife Nancy Juvonen.

She looked amazing wearing a Marchesa one shoulder navy gown, with a silver embellished asymmetrical neckline.

You may remember Georgina Chapman – the designer of this dress – wore it to the Metropolitan Opera last year.

Designer Vivienne Tam quite shamelessly, but harmlessly uses this event to promote her self designed HP Netbook.

The designer complimented the background, wearing a red embroidered dress from her Spring 2009 collection.

Claire Danes gave us the cold-shoulder with her black jersey dress, with cut-out shoulders.

M.I.A. was at this event, looking quite muted by her standards.

She wore the celebrity must have Alexander Wang suede and leather motorcycle jacket, under a Preen Line black dress. What…no sneakers???

This is how you make a Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 dress work.

Kerry Washington only slightly modified the dress from the runway, but it still keeps it edge, it’s still sexy and sassy. Despite this being a very strong piece, Kerry still shines through. This look doesn’t feel forced.

She was my joint best dressed of the night.

The actress is wearing the same Fall 2009 Louis Vuitton heels as Leighton.

Georgina Chapman, looking this gorgeous is just too easy for you.

The Marchesa designer is wearing one of my favourite pieces from the her Fall 2009 collection.

This scarlet duchess satin embroidered dress with a bow detail was the jewel in the crown of her collection, and just made Best Dressed for me 3 way tie.

What is it about Kate Hudson and gold gowns, that seems to always work so well?

The actress looked speculator wearing a gold sequined embroidered backless keyhole Stella McCartney gown, with a bronze hard box clutch.

Stella herself looked fantastic wearing a self designed black lace embroidered long sleeve plunge-neck jumpsuit, with black satin pumps.

This Gothic-like look is not what I would have expected from Kate Bosworth, and because it’s different I really like it. Bruce Willis seems to like it too.

The actress wore a Stella McCartney black long sleeve lace and silk gown, with marcel waves, and red lips that really pop.

Liv Tyler completed Stella’s Angels, by wearing a navy bead embroidered plunge neck Stella McCartney gown, with navy platform pumps.

The sophisticated elegance she is oozing, is simply breath-taking.

I was excited to see Marisa Tomei, and she didn’t let me down.

The actress continues to make great style choices after awards season, wearing a vintage Adrian ivory crepe gown, with a intricate embroidered detail cascading down the front of the gown.

An ivory clutch, matching heels, and a floral hair accessory complete the look.

No one should be surprised that Renee Zellweger is wearing a strapless Carolina Herrera Fall 2009 gown. Herrera’s muse is nothing but consistent with her look.

What’s surprising is that the gown doesn’t appeared to be modified from the runway, and she’s also sporting a ponytail, which is not exactly clear in this picture.

Kristin Dunst wore something similar to this Chanel Spring 2007 Couture navy gown, to the 2007 Oscars, but she didn’t quite have the poise, and confidence to pull it off, like she did in this gown last night.

The embroidered details are divine.

Claire Danes glows in her stunning two-tone asymmetrical Armani Privé gown.

When Agyness Deyn evokes old Hollywood glamour like this, it’s hard to hate.

Her metallic silver Burberry gown only elongates her already tall frame.

Her white gold and diamond pave Bvlgari necklace compliments her gown perfectly, plus she has a yellow gold tourmaline, emerald and diamond ring.

Rachel Bilson opted for something sexy, young, short and fun, wearing a ruched green Bally by Brian Atwood dress, with Bally python slingbacks.

Lake Bell’s androgynous works for me.

Dude looks like a lady wearing a black tailored suit, whilst carrying a Raven Kauffman Couture clutch.

For half a second, I thought she was Penelope Cruz.

Surprisingly safe for Katy Perry, I would have expect her and not Leighton Meester to be the wildcard for the night.

Her Tommy Hilfiger silk cobalt blue halter gown, is very sexy and elegant on her, and I adore the colour.

The cuff has a Woman Woman feel to it.

Eva Longoria’s black wore an incredibly sexy Diane von Furstenberg dress, with an open back and keyhole front, but the necklace feels a bit heavy.

I was about to say that Dontalla Versace didn’t modify her dress for once, but I notice that her Versace Fall 2009 aqua blue gown, doesn’t have the side split like the runway piece.

Cindy Crawford has not age a day in 20 years.

The Uber model arrived wearing a cobalt blue Versace Fall 2009 gown, with safety pins, and a thigh high split.

All her accessories matched her dress, and so did her smoky make-up.

I wish Allegra Versace had worn something more colourful, but I do like the construction on her Atelier Versace Spring 2009 mini dress.

As Marc Jacobs was the chair of this event, I was interested to see which Marc Jacobs piece Anna Wintour would wear. Instead she opted for a white and black trimmed Chanel Spring 2009 Couture gown.

I’m glad it’s something new, despite it feeling quite familiar.

Ciara wowed in a black and white backless Emilio Pucci gown, with embellished details going down the side.

Ivanka Trump looked like a fairy princess wearing a custom blush tulle Brian Reyes floret gown, with her own Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry, a Judith Leiber clutch, and Christian Louboutin ‘Bow T Dorcet’ heels.

If I was skilled enough in photoshop, I would have etched out Amber Rose’s tattoo, because it ruins everything great about this look.

She didn’t go crazy, as I expected her too. Had she worn something like Leighton, I wouldn’t have been surprised.

The sexy silhouette, and the ravishing red colour, it what made me fall in love with this gown.

I have been going back and forth about Mary-Kate Olsen’s Christian Lacroix Fall 2007 Couture gown since yesterday, which is why I have posted it last.

Is it too costumey? Is she too short to pull it off? Is it too crazy and ott?

And today, I have decided the answer is no to all those questions.

The gown is outstanding, with the metallic lace and silver-embroidered bustier-basque, plus tiered ruffled skirt. I think she pulls it off quite nicely.
