CinemaCon 2013 Awards Menswear Round Up

Many guys joined Elizabeth Banks on the red carpet for the CinemaCon 2013 Awards Ceremony, with grey being the order of the day.

Chris Pine: The actor opted for a dark-grey double-breasted Louis Vuitton suit with a striped shirt and a blue micro-dot tie which made his blue eyes pop. We don’t see many double-breasted suits on the red carpet, so this is a rare treat which is worn so well by the actor.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt: Going for the light-coloured-suit-and-dark-shoes combo, the actor picked up the ‘Breakthrough Film Maker of the Year Award’ looking very dapper and deservedly smug. His Prada grey glendale plaid two button suit, was styled with a white dress shirt and burgundy silk dot tie.

Morgan Freeman: Following suit, the ‘Conviction’ actor styled his light-grey suit with a black shirt to match his patent-leather shoes. Even though he is wearing shades indoors, he still looks so cool.

Armie Hammer: Appearing not to have received the grey suit memo, the actor stood apart from the rest, collecting his ‘Male Star of Tomorrow Award’ wearing a petrol-blue Tom Ford suit with a blue-and-white gingham shirt and copper tie. Despite the fact that we are deep into spring, these autumnal colours work well on the handsome actor.

Chris Pine In Z Zegna - ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ CinemaCon Presentation

Chris Pine joined his ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ co-star Alice Eve at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday during CinemaCon for Paramount Pictures’ presentation of their upcoming movie.

Also opting for a light-hued look, the handsome actor wore a grey-and-white striped Z Zegna two-piece peak-lapel suit with black patent-leather shoes.

As CinemaCon is a fairly informal event, the actor opted not to wear a tie.

From the ankles up I like this look. It would’ve been perfect had he opted for a lighter-coloured shoe; the black feels so heavy with his lightweight summery suit.

2013 Oscars Menswear Round Up

While the women looked absolutely gorgeous at the 2013 Oscars, the men used the biggest black tie event of the year to showcase some truly dapper looks. A large majority of the men stuck to the classic black and white, as opposed to navy and grey, and it paid off. With all the cleaned-up looks, it was surprising to see that the most popular trend of the night was facial hair. From full beards to scruff, the men of the Oscars made a manly statement.

Channing Tatum: Before dancing with Charlize Theron in the opening, the popular actor donned a nicely fitted Gucci made-to-order navy three-piece tux with Martin Katz studs and cufflinks. His outfit featured a classy shawl lapel and shirt studs. He rocked his tux all night with a huge smile thanks to his glowingly beautiful pregnant wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum.

Eddie Redmayne: Here’s the one you’ve all been waiting for. The always-dapper Eddie Redmayne arrived in a slim-fit Alexander McQueen black tuxedo with wide peak lapels. Like he’s shown over the past few months, Eddie knows how a suit should fit, and this tux fit perfectly. Finishing off his look with a tribute to the old school, he wore gold studs and, my favourite part, black tuxedo slippers.

Ben Affleck: That fantastic beard is back. The director and producer of Best Picture winner ‘Argo’ wore a Gucci black three-piece tuxedo that featured peak lapels. With his black bow tie, Ben wore a white shirt with a wing-tip collar. The pants could have been a bit shorter, but what he lacks in tailoring he makes up for in facial hair. Ben’s wife, Jennifer Garner, also wore Gucci to the event.

Chris Pine In Ermenegildo Zegna - Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences’ Scientific & Technical Awards

At the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences’ Scientific and Technical Awards ceremony in Beverly Hills, California on Saturday actor Chris Pine served as co-host along with ‘Star Trek’ co-star, Zoe Saldana. The 32-year-old actor arrived on the red carpet in a modern take on a classic look.

Wearing an Ermenegildo Zegna black, two-button tuxedo suited Chris very well. The wide peak lapels and black tie looked phenomenal considering the pants and jacket were tailored to near perfection.

I think we can all see the problem here. It’s ironic that Chris can’t see it. Those frames are much too large and chunky for his face. I like that he is accessorizing with black glasses, but those are incredibly distracting and not the least bit flattering.

The two sci-fi stars will be seen on screen together in the sequel, ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’, which will be released in theatres on May 17.

Isla Fisher joined her co-star Chris Pine on the red carpet this evening at the Empire Leicester Square in London, for ‘The Rise of the Guardians’ premiere.

The Australian actress wore a Dolce & Gabbana cream lace sleeveless peplum dress with Bulgari jewels and a satin Bulgari clutch.

Isla taupe satin Sergio Rossi heels, which complemented the satin waistband on her dress, just prevent her from looking totally washed out.

Unlike Chris, there isn’t a lot good going on here.

The look feels a bit dated, her makeup ages her drastically and the shoes are too heavy.

This is the one rare occasion when the male star outshines the female star.
