Menswear Midweek Roundup

Menswear Midweek Roundup

Here is a quick menswear roundup.

Chris Pine: The new face of the bestselling fragrance Armani Code was a front row guest at Giorgio Armani’s Spring 2015 menswear show during Milan Fashion week on Tuesday (June 24). The handsome actor was of course wearing a Giorgio Armani suit. The finely textured navy notched-lapel suit was styled with a crisp white unbuttoned shirt with contrasting blue loafers. The only thing to improve this look, in my eyes, would be just a bit of product in his hair, or a haircut.

Zach Braff: The actor joined co-star Ashley Greene on the red carpet for the ‘Wish I Was Here’ LA premiere. He wore a Dior Homme grey wool micro-check slim lapel three-piece suit, burgundy cotton shirt, navy silk tie and black calfskin leather derbies. I’m not loving the colour combination here. I would start with losing the fall-hued shirt and tie in favour of lighter shades.

Jim Parsons: Opting for colour which wasn’t so Fall-like, the best thing about this look for me was Jim’s tie.

Chris Pine In Ralph Lauren Purple Label – ‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ London Premiere

Chris Pine In Ralph Lauren - ‘Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit’ London Premiere

Fresh off his Best Dressed Man of the Week win, Chris Pine was back on the red carpet, joining co-star Keira Knightley for the ‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ London premiere held at Vue Leicester Square on Monday (January 20) evening.

Once again he opted for a Ralph Lauren Purple Label suit and to go tieless, wearing a two-button woven-to-a-fine-textured tweed suit. It’s tailored to the label’s exacting standards and even without the tie he meets the smart dress code with ease.

At first I thought this suit was a re-run, but then realised that Chris loves wearing tawny-brown suits, as showcased at ‘The Rise of the Guardians’ London premiere and the ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Berlin premiere.

A white-and-brown-patterned Tom Ford pocket square, brown patent-leather Max Verre lace up shoes and his ever-present David Yurman pinky ring rounded out his look.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Lupita Nyong’o In Ralph Lauren & Calvin Klein Collection and Chris Pine In Ermenegildo Zegna Couture

Best Dressed Of The Week - Lupita Nyong'o In Ralph Lauren & Calvin Klein Collection and Chris Pine In Ermenegildo Zegna Couture2

You know you are a fashion force to be reckoned with when on a best-dressed poll the only person you are in competition with is yourself. That is what happened this week when Lupita Nyong’o’s Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein Collection looks ended up first and second place.

The majority of you picked Lupita’s Ralph Lauren Golden Globes gown. I also loved this look, but my favourite was the Calvin Klein Collection custom gown.

The Ralph Lauren look had too much of a Gwyneth Paltrow/Zhang Ziyi déjà vu-ness about it, which lost it half a point.

However, don’t be surprised if the Ralph Lauren ends up in my BDOTY list ahead of the CK, because that cape is clearly the more memorable ‘I’ve really arrived’ look.

When it came to the fellas there was no such dilemma. It was Team Chris Pine all the way; he took looking devilishly handsome, in a classic Ermenegildo Zegna Couture suit, to a whole new level.

Chris Pine In Ralph Lauren Purple Label – ‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’

Chris Pine In Ralph Lauren Purple Label - 'Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit'

Chris Pine, my best-dressed male from the Golden Globe Awards, was back out on the red carpet again last night (January 15) attending the premiere for his latest flick ‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ held at TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Smouldering, as he does, the actor turned to one of his preferred labels, Ralph Lauren Purple Label, for his suit.

The label may have been purple, but the two-button suit was black, styled with a crisp white open shirt and matching pocket square.

Max Verre black lace up wingtip shoes and a David Yurman silver pink ring rounded out his look.

It’s a simple ready-in-5 look, which solidifies that he is currently one of the best-dressed men to hit the red carpet.

2014 Golden Globe Awards Menswear Roundup

Golden Globes Men 1Flexing their sartorial strength, the guys glammed up for the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, held last night (January 12) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Here, an overview of the handsome highlights.

Matthew McConaughey: The big victor in the best actor category, the ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ star was every bit a winner on the red carpet, too. His Dolce & Gabbana three-piece tuxedo featured a surprising emerald-green velvet blazer with contrasting black peak lapels, adding a swoon-worthy twist on the standard. His touch of scruff, meanwhile, was his way of putting a casual-cool spin on this formal entrance. His wife, Camila Alves, also shone rather brightly in a glittery, black Dolce & Gabbana gown that flaunted her enviable curves.

Chris Pine: Rocking the full beard, the actor embraced the classics with an impeccably tailored Ermenegildo Zegna Couture black, peak grosgrain lapel tuxedo, white dress shirt, and black bow tie. He finished the look with Tod’s black patent loafers and a David Yurman gold pinky ring.
