January Jones In Chanel – 2013 Met Gala

January Jones completely threw me for a loop, as she took to the 2013 Met Gala red carpet on Monday in New York City.

The ‘Mad Men’ actress was worlds away from her classic Betty Draper character (and from her sublime Met moment last year). But she did put on quite the show with this punk-star alter-ego.

She chopped off the longer knee-length of this Chanel Spring 2009 Couture square-shoulder dress, encrusted with shiny paillettes, which lent an edgier appeal.

The frock paired with metallic shoes was fine, daresay forgettable, but what was more intriguing was January’s hair and makeup.

Talk about a makeover. She outlined her eyes in a heavy, geometric application of liner and covered up her brows. It all made for quite the sci-fi effect—call it alien punk.

A mini-bouffant and braided-back locks topped off the look.

Jennifer Lawrence In Christian Dior – 2013 Met Gala

Jennifer Lawrence looked like a vintage dream in Christian Dior on the Met Gala red carpet.

I honestly think the new face of Dior looks flawless top to bottom here, but it does make me chuckle just a little that she wore this to a punk-themed event.

The strapless, jewel-encrusted Dior gown is classically glamorous, and the black birdcage veil takes its elegance to another level.

Jennifer’s flawless porcelain skin, deep red lip and black-lined eyes are the perfect classic makeup for this timeless look.

Madonna In Givenchy – 2013 Met Gala

Like Beyonce Knowles and Florence Welch, Madonna also trotted out Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci for the 2013 Met Gala on Monday at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

However, unlike Bey and Flo, Madge put on a full-fledged costume for the Costume Institute Benefit. She may have arrived late to the red carpet, but she wasn’t going unnoticed.

The singer threw caution to the wind and channeled her inner wild-child and sent out a rebel yell with this pants-less get-up that delivered every touchstone of punk imaginable.

The studs, the spikes and the chains all came out to play. So did the plaid. Grommets and gloves were present and accounted for, right along with grungy ripped fishnet tights and a visible lace bra.

Did I miss anything? Oh, yes. The dog collar choker and locket, and the hot pink Casedei ankle-strap pumps. And, of course, there was the shock-and-awe factor that’s so crucial in chaotic punk style.

To top it all off? A short black Cleopatra wig. She should have done a mohawk.

Kate Beckinsale In Alberta Ferretti – 2013 Met Gala

Kate Beckinsale took to the red carpet Monday night to support the Metropolitan Museum of Art at its annual Met Gala in New York.

The actress wore a pink frock from Alberta Ferretti with an Edie Parker clutch.

Wearing pink, the unofficial colour of the evening, Kate looked fantastic in a strapless, asymetrical, high-low dress.

Kate added punk accents via strappy shoes, and statement gold and silver geometric earrings and a matching ring.

And of course, we can’t forget her sexy meets sophisticated meets undone slept-in-my-makeup smokey eye that paired so well with her volume-injected mohwak.

Alexa Chung In Erdem – 2013 Met Gala

The always fashion-forward Alexa Chung wore a dress from Erdem’s Fall 2013 collection to the Met Gala.

I don’t read punk here, but I do love the subtle peek-a-boo factor of this dress. Bare midriffs are a huge trend this spring, and I like the trendy-without-being vulgar version this dress offers. I also really like the effect of wearing the black hotpants under the dress.

My one fashion complaint here is the extra high neckline, which takes this into victorian territory–it looks better on the runway stopping at the collarbone.

Alexa’s soft updo and simple makeup are well paired with the bold dress–Alexa never looks overdone, and tonight is no different.

Jessica Pare In Jason Wu – 2013 Met Gala

‘Mad Men’ star Jessica Pare struck a fierce pose in Jason Wu at the Met Gala tonight.

The structural hybrid top and gown is a departure from what Jason Wu is known for, and Jessica wears is well.

I really think Jessica has nailed this look from top to bottom. The look was styled perfectly on the runway, and the actress mimics that even down to the perfect strappy sandals, which accent the look perfectly.

Her sleek, center-parted updo continues in the modern feel of the gown, and her dramatic blue eyeshadow is navy enough that it isn’t painfully matchy-matchy with the color of the gown.

Major bravo for Jessica!
