Cheryl Cole made a return to the States yesterday.

She was all smiles as she was spotted arriving at LAX International Airport with Girls Aloud bandmate Kimberley Walsh.

Apparently Cheryl is back in the USA to fulfill her obligations with FOX for the American version of “The X Factor,” despite the fact that she was booted from the judges’ panel a few weeks ago.

She wore a MiH Tibetan fur gilet over a blue top and faded jeans.

Burberry studded platform sandals and a Derek Lam Ume bag completed her look.

Kimberly wore a floral jumpsuit with a beige jacket whilst carrying a Miu Miu bag.

Christian Louboutin Almeria espadrille wedges completed her look.

Cheryl Cole came out of hiding following her so called humiliation at the hands of Simon Cowell following her sacking on the US X Factor.

I’m sure the £1.2m pay off for 4 days work is why the Geordie lass was all smiles on her 28th birthday party at The Sanderson Hotel in London last week.

Cheryl opted to wear a Stella McCartney spot-appliquéd tulle dress from the Fall 2011 collection.

Her ivory halter chiffon dress with white disc appliqués was terribly unflattering on Cheryl.

The ethereal nature of this look is totally lost on her as Cheryl makes this Stella McCartney dress look like a Lipsy knock-off; especially as she’s butchered the dress by making it shorter.

Her hair doesn’t help this look much either.

Whilst I like the colour, the asymmetrical faux pob doesn’t work for her.

A white Stella McCartney clutch and gold satin t-bar peep-toes completed her look.

Before Cheryl Cole was sacked from the US version of the X Factor, she was spotted at Chicago airport making her way to the next round of auditions.

She was in head-to-toe labels starting with an Alice + Olivia checked cotton and wool-blend blazer.

The rest of her look included a Eugenia Kim Gary cap, Aubin & Wills corsbie shorts and Marc by Marc Jacobs spotted wedges, which we saw her wear later at the auditions.

Emma Roberts wore the same Alice + Olivia blazer on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” last week.

The young actress teamed her blazer with an Alice + Olivia ‘Louise’ leather skirt, a printed tee and obligatory black Brian Atwood pumps.

Cheryl wins for me.

I’m not at all fond of Emma’s look as the blazer feels like the odd piece out of this look and I hate the pumps.

Someone introduce this girl to a sandal.

I know this site is supposed to focus on Fashion only, but so many of you have asked me to comment on the Cheryl Cole situation, so here are my thoughts.

I do feel very sorry for Cheryl. No one should have to deal with that type of humiliation on a very public scale, but I still stand by the fact that she was never right for the job in the first place.

How can someone with limited (if any) talent seriously judge singers on such a large scale. Especially when Cheryl’s whole solo singing career has been based on the X Factor schedule.

Has she even released a single when the X Factor hasn’t been on air?

What would’ve happened if she had got the Country category on the US X Factor? “Stand by Your Man” and “D.I.V.O.R.C.E.” wouldn’t have cut it every week.

I don’t believe the problem was her accent because she would’ve had to pass several screen tests to have been offered the job in the first place.

Cat Deeley had been fronting ‘So You Think You Can Dance?” for years with her brummy (Birmingham) accent with no problems, but then she doesn’t have any skeletons in her closet who can come back to bite in her the rear end like Cheryl does.

Simon is a media manipulator and it wouldn’t surprise me if this whole media circus was planned from the get-go to drum up publicity for his show which will be competing against the much loved and more established American Idol. Notice how this public sacking happened the same week as the AI finale?

And why no official statement? No doubt to drag this on as long as it took to announce her appointment in the first place.

It’s a shame Simon had to throw his friend under the bus to get that publicity.

No show needs 2 hosts. Nicole Scherzinger was always a back-up if things didn’t work out. This is another point I made which unfortunately came true. Proving that the Fox execs didn’t have much faith in Cheryl in the first place.

Many of you had noted that the despite the smiles, a sparkle was missing from Cheryl eyes. Was she home sick? Miserable that she’s was number 2 to Paula Abdul? Or did she realise that she was a very small fish in an extremely large pond and very much out of her depth with nothing to add to this table? Or all of the above?

There is now talk of her returning to back to the UK Factor, which I think is a huge mistake after she so very publicly dumped the show to follow her big America dream.

Taking a year out and finding herself would be very therapeutic for her since she hasn’t stopped working since her last public humiliation via the Ashley Cole debacle.

What do you think?

Cheryl Cole was spotted arriving at Chicago’s Sears Convention Center to judge the X-Factor auditions earlier today.

She greeted fans wearing a Sonia by Sonia Rykiel polka dot dress.

The dress is super cute.

It looks like she’s reverting back to the way she dressed during season 1 of the UK Factor when fans found her more relatable.

Whilst I love the polka dot dress, the matching Marc by Marc Jacobs polka dot navy wedges were overkill.

Gorgeous smile as always.

It looks like Cheryl Cole wasn’t in New York for X Factor auditions, but to attend the 2011 Fox Upfront Event.

She joined her fellow judges; Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and LA Reid plus X Factor hosts; Steven Jones and Nicole Scherzinger at the event which was held at the Wollman Rink in Central Park last night.

The Brit opted for an orange Giambattista Valli short sleeve dress which provided a delightful pop of colour against the blue background.

It looks like Paula Abdul had the same idea, as she arrived wearing a bright coral Alexander McQueen dress with a plunging neckline whilst carrying a Swarovski silver shadow crystal Mysthic clutch.

Cheryl accessorized with a Vivienne Westwood pearl orb chocker and a pair of off-white marbled snake-effect leather Giuseppe Zanotti t-bar sandals.

Looking at this line up, I can’t help but think that Cheryl is punching well above her weight.

What can she seriously bring to this table?
