Charlotte Gainsbourg In Louis Vuitton - 'Misunderstood' (Incompresa) Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Charlotte Gainsbourg attended the ‘Misunderstood’ (Incompresa) premiere during the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (May 22) in Cannes, France.

Considering Adele Exarchopoulos, Julianne Moore and Mia Wasikowska all wore custom Louis Vuitton gowns, I’m surprised Nicolas Ghesquière didn’t whip one up for Charlotte.

Mostly likely it’s because, like Sofia Coppola, she likes the no fuss approach. Instead, she selected another Louis Vuitton Resort 2015 look featuring a navy printed sweater with gold-trimmed hole punches and high-waisted yellow trousers.

Both her gold belt and LV top-handle bag added some glitz to her look, but this is more like a FROW look or lunch with friends rather than a Cannes premiere look.

Charlotte Gainsbourg In Louis Vuitton - 'Incompresa' Cannes Film Festival Photocall

Charlotte Gainsbourg attended the ‘Incompresa’ photocall during the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival earlier this afternoon (May 22) on a wet day in Cannes, France.

The French actress gave us no surprises, wearing a look from the recently presented Louis Vuitton Resort 2015 collection, selecting their ‘Grand-Prix’ knitted silk dress – which was sheer enough to reveal her underwear – accented with a blue leather belt.

While this won’t be regarded as a big deal or even a faux pas by the actress, she really should’ve reconsidered her LV leather sandals as they are making her look like she has cankles.

The Place d’Armes in Monte Carlo, Monaco proved just the glossy venue for the Louis Vuitton Resort 2015 show, Nicolas Ghesquière’s second collection for the label, which was held on Saturday (May 17). A chic group of the designer’s darlings—many of whom have also been sighted at the Cannes Film Festival—were seated front and centre for the colourful, eclectic presentation, all correspondingly decked in looks from Vuitton’s Fall 2014 runway.

Jennifer Connelly: The actress trotted out a monochromatic dress with flared sleeves and skirt, accessorized with a small box clutch and patent-black statement booties. The mix of geometric shapes and cutouts, in addition to the armor-like collar overlays, was a lot to manage. Do you think she pulled it off?

Adele Exarchopoulos: Opting for a slightly sportier entrance, the French starlet wore a light lemon-hued zippered blouse with a statement white collar and black detailing. Shiny black leggings, a mini handbag and ankle-strap platform sandals completed her look.

Zhang Ziyi
: Bringing a bolder splash of colour to the proceedings, the Asian actress paired her cerulean-blue and black collared, zipper blouse with a deep eggplant A-line skirt, accented by a burgundy wrap belt.

Charlotte Gainsbourg In Louis Vuitton - ‘Nymphomaniac Volume I’ New York Screening

Charlotte Gainsbourg joined Emmy Rossum and Stacy Martin for the ‘Nymphomaniac: Volume I’ New York screening at the Museum of Modern Art on Thursday (March 13) in New York City.

Once a fiercely loyal Balenciaga girl, it would appear her allegiance is to all things created by Nicolas Ghesquière.

The French actress wore an exact runway look head to toe from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2014 collection which included a white frill-collar blouse, yellow-and-black V-neck knit vest, vinyl black trousers and tan patent-leather ankle boots.

Few could pull this off, but she’s totally selling this look to me.

Charlotte is always chic with zero effort no matter what she wears, but would you’ve liked to have seen her break up the look and make it her own rather than rip the runway?

Balenciaga’s Creative Director, Nicolas Ghesquière, has forged a powerful bond with Charlotte Gainsbourg.

The French actress and singer is regarded as his muse and she has recently fronted the campaign for Balenciaga’s latest fragrance, l’Essence.

Charlotte is one of the jury members for Berlinale Film Festival, so we shouldn’t be surprised that all her looks so far have been Balenciaga.

On Thursday she joined Jake Gyllenhaal for the Jury Photocall during day one of the 62nd Berlinale Film Festival.

She wore one of my favourite looks from the Balenciaga Spring 2012 collection which included a simple white vest, paired with terracotta pants with an orange pocket.

This is a great look for Charlotte, but I prefer the colour of the runway shoes.
