2017 MTV EMAs Red Carpet Roundup

While many will still be talking about Rita Ora’s double bathrobe moment at the 2017 MTV EMAs on Sunday (November 12) in London, there were plenty of other daring looks to likewise borrow some of the spotlight.

Leomie Anderson: I love how the model looked to vintage Vivienne Westwood inspiration in this Fall 1994 look. Her high ponytail and combat boots added another layer of sassy edge to the look that had plenty of modern edge.

Demi Lovato: Proving that plaid and a paper-bag waist can somehow maintain a sexy appeal, Demi worked the proportions of this Styland suit to her advantage. Giuseppe Zanotti plafforms were clearly necessary given the length of the pants, with Messika jewelry rounding out the look. If the super-long extensions get a pass, it’s only because of this being a MTV occasion.

Tallia Storm: Her Topshop ‘Cosmic Star’ embellished slip dress offered an accessible interpretation on red-carpet dressing. I can easily see the socks and platforms being a sticking point, however, they did bring funky appeal, with an Alexander McQueen clutch for a bit of overt British flavour to finish the look.

End Of The Week Red Carpet Roundup

There were so many looks this week, that we’re going to cram them into this final post.

Josephine De La Baume: Attending the ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ world premiere, the French actress opted to infuse her red carpet style with high-voltage seduction courtesy of this Self-Portrait devore mini dress from the Fall 2017 collection. I’m not usually a big fan of platform shoes, but I find myself buying what she’s selling as these Miu Miu Mary Janes add a playful vibe.

Martha Hunt: I love the fashion forward feel of this Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh black cropped blazer and sequin dress from the Fall 2017 collection with simple black pumps. Worn to the World of Children Awards, this was a truly intriguing look I have to say.

Ajak Deng: This saffron yellow Roksanda ‘Tamiko’ jumpsuit from the Fall 2017 collection gave me so much joy at the ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ world premiere. I love the relaxed nature of it all with the chunky heels adding a utilitarian flavour.

2017 amfAR & The Naked Heart Foundation Fabulous Fund Fair

Natalia Vodianova’s annual Fabulous Fund Fair for The Naked Heart Foundation traveled to New York City for the first time in partnership with amfAR on Saturday (October 28). Guests did not shirk their costume duties, either, for the Halloween-themed bash that saw a range of extravagant outfits.

Natalia Vodianova: There was no danger of missing the Naked Heart founder in the crowd, as she was the life-size incarnation of a Jeff Koons sculpture in her Andrey Bartenev balloon-esque design, further amped up by green Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2018 boots.

Naomi Campbell: There was almost more dress in the supermodel’s headdress than in her actual metallic-laced mini from The Blonds Fall 2017 collection.

Izabel Goulart: The model may have been channeling a Frida Kahlo-like spirit, but her Christian Dior Spring 2018 sheer embellished confection was very much within her go-to sexy style. Chopard jewels completed the look that was on the Red Carpet Wish List for Diane Kruger.

Charli XCX In Cushnie et Ochs – 2017 GQ Men of The Year Awards

Before taking to the stage to perform, Charli XCX joined Poppy Delevingne on the red carpet at the 2017 GQ Men of The Year Awards, held on Tuesday (September 5) in London.

Tending to seesaw between rebellious style and subtle simplicity, the singer opted for the latter in this Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2017 slip dress.

With seductive qualities carried in the cutout neckline, a simple Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Penelope Pearl’ sandal ensured the focus stayed on the dress.

It’s a shame her raven locks remained a bit unkempt, as I would have loved to have seen a sleeker look here.

Variety Power Of Young Hollywood Red Carpet Roundup

In addition to Yara Shahidi, Zendaya Coleman, and Chloe Grace Moretz, the Variety Power of Young Hollywood Party brought out plenty more PYTs to the festivities on Tuesday (August 8) in LA.

Skai Jackson: Skai can wear sweet looks with the best of them, but I loved how this H&M look combined the adorable charm of her ruffled, floral blouse with an edgier attitude in its black colourway and the addition of the patent-leather skirt. An incredible ’do topped with a few hair jewels along with Stuart Weitzman sandals completed the ensemble.

Charli XCX: Paring back the original presentation of this House of Holland Fall 2017 ensemble, the entertainer wore the PJs-inspired separates with her own rebellious fashion personality. For her, that meant tying the top to a midriff style and adding a choker and neon-orange sandals.

Kaitlyn Dever: While the sky-blue colour of this Prada tea-length, embossed frock was lovely, the fit of the bodice seemed a bit odd. I’m not sure if it was her choker and Aldo ‘Milaa’ sandals, but I was also picking up on a subtle punk vibe that made the look feel a little disjointed.

The Serpentine Galleries Summer Party

Rita Ora, Ellie Bamber and Stacy Martin weren’t the only ones at The Serpentine Galleries Summer Party in London on Wednesday (June 28). Here, a look at the other stars in attendance.

Gala Gordon: This whimsical white Chanel Fall 2016 frock wasn’t too innocent, as the edgy, black accents imbued the look with just enough rebel spirit. The dress could have used a less distracting bra.

Charli XCX: Also going the way of white, the entertainer was entirely lovely in a Stella McCartney Fall 2017 top and lace skirt that I was head over heels for. Structured, chic, and sweet—and not over-styled.

Adwoa Aboah: While this Chanel pastel-beaded, sheer gown may have appeared to have all the qualities of standard prettiness, she added a layer of quirk appeal to its romantic side with the furry Chanel purse and white athletic shoes. Say what you will about the unexpected sneakers, but it was the necklace that I found so unnecessary with the already robust embellishment.
