Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Most Refreshing Award
It’s been a while since we last saw Olivia Wilde on the red carpet, so I was happy to see her at the 2010 Film Independent Spirit Awards.

The stunning actress is known for wearing fantasy fairytale gowns, but on this occasion she wore a paisley print silk Ralph Lauren Fall 2009 gown.

I love this look. I think it’s the most relaxed we’ve seen Olivia on the red carpet so this totally works for the event.

Her look is paired with gold necklaces and matching clutch to complement the gold tones on her gown.

Best Of British Award
Carey Mulligan was very much flying the flag for Great Britain last night at the 2010 Film Independent Spirit Awards.

Our English Rose wore a Christopher Kane Fall 2010 leather dress fresh off the runway which I think was an amazing choice and perfect for this event.

I love the lace cap sleeves and the lace hem plus those stunning embellishments.

Her Rupert Sanderson Estelle cut-out satin heels were also British made

J’Adore the red lips.

Best Dressed Award
Zoe Kravtiz is very much the poster child for the Film Independent Spirit Awards, so it was not a surprise to see her grace the red carpet at the LA event.

What I did find surprising is how much I loved her look.

Normally I tired of her boho vibe, but if her Chloé Spring 2010 look is to be considered boho it was a least done in a modern, fresh, less contrived way.

Zoe was definitely one of my favourites of the night as she looked so soft and elegant.

Wash Out Award
Mia Wasikowska arrived on the red carpet at the 2010 Film Independent Spirit Awards wearing quite an edgy look.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work for me.

You may think I going to groan about the tights, but on this occasion I’m more disappointed with the colour of her Rodarte Fall 2009 dress.

The grey totally washes her out. Had she worn slightly more visible make-up this wouldn’t have been the case.

This is a shame because she’s one of the few I think could pull off Rodarte.

I also think she should’ve followed Carey Mulligan’s lead by freshening up her pixie haircut.

Best Modification Award
Vera Farmiga made the right choice at the 2010 Film Independent Spirit Awards.

As much as I love gowns on a red carpet, the Spirit Awards isn’t about that. It’s more casual, so I love that Vera shortened her Marchesa Resort 2010 red dress to make it more event appropriate.

I don’t however like her peep-toes as they almost blend into her skin-tone.

Yes it would’ve been too matchy matchy, but I would’ve preferred red heels on this occasion.
