Red Carpet Fashion Awards

The 40th Annual People's Choice Awards - ShowAs co-hosts of the 2014 People’s Choice Awards, the red carpet was just the beginning of Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs’ night—and their wardrobe. For the show, hosted yesterday (January 8) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California, the ‘2 Broke Girls’ stars took stylish advantage of their on-stage time with three distinct sets of coordinated looks.

Look 1: Kat kicked off the show in an Oliver Tolentino Couture strapless, peplum-waist frock in the most engaging shade of saturated amethyst. The colour was beautiful against her alabaster skin tone, dark wavy locks and magenta lip. Beth truly glittered, too, in an adorable, crystallized Kate Spade New York ‘Estelle’ white paired with flashy silver Giuseppe Zanotti heels. Her blonde curls and pink lipstick made this leggy look both girly and glam.

Hair Trend Spotting People’s Choice Awards Relaxed Waves

Many of the beauty and hair looks at last night’s People’s Choice Awards were effortless and unfussy. Wildly trending on the red carpet was relaxed waves. This toned down yet impeccably chic look paired well with glamorous dresses served as a fresh pairing usually reserved for more low-key events. While Naya Rivera debuted new blonde tresses, she too sported this waved look alongside Sandra Bullock and Malin Akerman. Whether you’re blonde or brunette, here are some professional tips to achieving this celebrity hairstyle.

Prep: Maintaining hair’s shape and look throughout long award presentations is essential in red carpet beauty. Before styling make sure to prep hair with an extender that will offer lasting results. Living Proof’s Prime Style Extender is an ideal product that will not only maintain the hairstyle longer but it reduces the need for touch-up and provides a delayed need for shampooing. After that is thoroughly applied, make sure to protect hair with a strong heat protectant like ghd’s Heat Protect Spray.

Style: After hair is blown out, it’s time to add effortless waves. Part hair in even sections and clip away hair that is not being styled. Depending on your desired look, take a one to one and a half inch curling iron or wand and gently wrap hair around, concentrating below the roots.

Finish: After hair is curled, finger comb curls to loosen to achieve nice waves. For a more polished and smooth look, work a small portion of Drybar’s The Chaser shine pomade onto the ends of hair to prevent frizz and pesky flyaways. Finally, spray with Bumble & Bumble’s Bb. Thickening Dryspun Finish hairspray for a lasting hairstyle without heaviness and sticky residue.

Red Carpet Trends People’s Choice Awards Effortless Updo’s

Awards season has official begun with a stylish start. All eyes were on the fashionable ladies of the night at the People’s Choice Awards and each stylish attendee featured looks more stunning than the next. While there were many notable looks on the red carpet, many starlets chose sport a more relaxed glam look for tonight’s festivities. Effortless and textured up-do’s were seen throughout the event and we’ve rounded up some of the best looks and tips to achieve them yourself.

Sarah Michelle Gellar: Sarah’s voluminous, messy up-do wonderfully complimented her chic black and white Sachin + Babi Spring 2014 dress. To get this full hairstyle, prep your hair with Bumble & Bumble’s prêt-a-powder by dusting at the roots and blending product with your fingers. Gather hair at the crown and pin into a poof. Spray remaining hair with Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray and pull remaining hair into a chic twist.

Lucy Hale: Lucy’s elegant yet graceful up-do appropriately fit the young star’s style. A low, messy and modern bun was framed by loose waves parted in the middle. The secret to her full and shiny tresses is treating hair before it is styled. Try Frederic Fekkai’s Full Blown Volume Styling Whip before you blow out your hair for maximum fullness and glamorous shine.

Anna Faris: Anna makes the ponytail glamorous and chic once again. Brow-grazing fringe bangs and face-framing wisps highlighted her texturized ponytail. While the look still looked polished, a slightly backcombed crown made the otherwise simple style a bit more glam. For that full textured look, a great spray like Oscar Blandi’s Pronto Texture & Volume Spray does the trick. Spraying before styling helps manipulate hair into a proper look while maintaining long-lasting results.

Allison Williams: As usual, ‘Girls’ star, Allison Williams shimmered on the red carpet in a polished low ponytail. While her smile is usually the feature that’s shining, it was her lustrous locks that were doing all the shining last night. To get Allison’s sophisticated side parted ponytail, blow out hair straight with a flat bore bristle brush and spray hair with a finishing shine spray, like Ouidad’s Frizz & Flyaway Fighter Taming Shine Spray. The shine spray will keep hair looking touchable and smooth all night.

2014 People’s Choice Awards Menswear RoundupKicking off the new year in trendsetting fashion, the 2014 People’s Choice Awards’ red carpet at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California was ablaze last night (January 8) with PYTs and their handsome counterparts. Sure, the girls brought the trendy glam, but the guys showed off their own sartorial muscle, too.

Justin Timberlake: The entertainer, and three-time winner for Favourite Male Artist, R&B Artist and Album, balanced an armful of trophies while looking sharp in an all-black Tom Ford ensemble. That he went tieless and sported a bit of well-groomed scruff only contributed to the cool factor.

Ian Somerhalder: ‘The Vampire Diaries’ hottie scored the win for Favourite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor—and scored major style points with his Z Zegna navy blazer with button-down shirt and tie, which he handsomely dressed down with a pair of dark denim jeans, casual loafers and a touch of scruff. Of course, who was really looking at anything but those piercing baby blues.

Chris Colfer: The ‘Glee’ cutie showed off his Favourite Comedic TV Actor trophy in a Sand midnight-blue, velvet blazer paired with Citizens of Humanity ‘Blade’ tapered slim jeans, a white button-down shirt and black tie. Like Ian, he put a casual spin on his formal top half with dark denim jeans.

Kaley Cuoco In Sachin + Babi - 2014 People's Choice Awards

Kaley Cuoco, who previously hosted the People’s Choice Awards, attended this year as a nominee (and winner) in the Favourite Comedic TV Actress category.

For her walk down the red carpet at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California on Wednesday (January 8), ‘The Big Bang Theory’ starlet took a faintly bohemian turn in a Sachin + Babi Spring 2014 ensemble.

Her long, box-pleated skirt, in an intoxicating shade of cerulean, featured a peekaboo, lattice-stitched floral motif. Rather than follow the runway’s styling, she exchanged the white tunic top for a more tailored, tucked-in black tank.

She accessorized with just a few beaded and tied bracelets, styling her blonde locks into bedhead waves and sweeping on a smoky, kohl-rimed eye.

However, despite her intent to match those strappy blue Aperlai ‘Liberty’ sandals to her blue skirt, they still seemed somewhat at odds with the more casual, breezy spirit that dominated this look from the ankles up.
