Cate Blanchett In Lanvin – 2014 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards

Cate Blanchett In Lanvin - 2014 Critics' Choice Movie Awards

Cate Blanchett looked regal, as always, attending the 19th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards held at Barker Hangar on Thursday (January 16) in Santa Monica.

The Best Actress nominee for ‘Blue Jasmine’ wore a head-to-toe Lanvin Pre- 2014 look consisting of a bottle green long stretch crêpe short-sleeve dress kept contemporary with a wide black leather belt with crystal detailing, which she styled with black suede sandals with lacquer stiletto heels and a black Roger Vivier ‘Cerniera’ clutch.

To some, this may come off as just a t-shirt maxi dress, but thanks to the styling, the hypnotic colour against her pale skin, those sleek blonde locks, and the orange lip, this is yet another stunning look from Cate.

Get The Look: Cate Blanchett’s 2014 Golden Globes Romantic Makeup Look

Cate Blanchett's 2014 Golden Globes Romantic Makeup LookCate Blanchett went with classic black with her Armani gown, though her makeup artist, Jeanine Lobell wanted to stay away from the classic red lip when it came to Cate’s pout.

“We didn’t want to do the expected red lip to go with her gorgeous Armani black gown,” says Jeanine. “So we went the softer route. No harsh lines. Instead, I blended colors for dimension.”
Jeanine made what was essentially custom lip color for Cate. She mixed Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Lipstick in Scarlatto and Boudoir. Her trick? She first applied Scarlatto (a raspberry rose) then applied Boudoir (a nude rose) directly over it.

Cate’s matte, even-toned look all began with prep work. Jeanine prepped Cate’s skin with the SK-II Facial Treatment Mask. Afterwards, she applied the Lancome Translucence Mattifying Silky Press Powder. She layered the Nars Highlighting Blush in Satellite of Love to highlight Cate’s cheekbones, giving her a beautiful flush.

Using the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eye Shadow in Intuition, Jeanine blended the pinky-beige and goldy-beige shades together and dusted them from lid to lash line. She then used the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Emervielle for a hint of colour to add dimension without the need for liner. Countless coats of Lancome Hypnose Waterproof Custome Volume mascara were used to really make Cate’s lashes pop.

To complete Cate’s look, Jeanine used the Nars Brow Shader and Brow Gel to create a defined, but not-too-harsh brow.

Golden Globes Hair Trend Spotting: Deep Side Parts

Golden Globes Hair Trend Spotting Deep Side Parts

While plenty of different beauty looks were seen on the red carpet at Sunday’s Golden Globe awards, there was one major trend we spotted on the stars: deep side parts. Whether the hair was left down or pulled into a ponytail or updo, the deep side part was definitely the look to have.

Sandra Bullock’s hair was given a deep side part before being pulled into a relaxed side ponytail, and Emma Watson’s hair was sleeked into a side part before being wrapped into a messy-but-chic chignon.

A deep part was the foundation of Cate Blanchett’s retro-inspired faux-bob, and Kerry Washington’s hair was given a side part before being coiffed into shiny, loose waves.

Other stars who wore the trend include Reese Witherspoon, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Margot Robbie, Kaley Cuoco and Sarah Paulson.

To get the look at home, use a rat tail comb to get a precise line. Then, if you want a voluminous final look, apply a soft hold mousse, like Oscar Blandi Hair Lift Mousse and for a sleek final ‘do, go for a shine serum like Alterna’s Caviar Anti-Aging Polishing Serum.

Cate Blanchett In Armani Privé Couture – 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Cate Blanchett In Armani Privé Couture - 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Cate Blanchett turned up the drama at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday night (January 12).

The ‘Blue Jasmine’ star and best actress winner was the epitome of sultry sophistication in a black, sheer-effect Armani Privé Fall 2013 Couture tulle and lace gown that had the quality of being both darkly glamorous and delicately fragile.

The back of this decadent confection, which featured an ever-so-artful and provocative plunge, may have even captivated me more than the front view.

She styled the look with Jimmy Choo ‘Esam’ pumps, but it was her statement Chopard diamond earrings that were the attention-grabbing stunners that really sparkled against the dress.

A side-parted, tucked-under faux bob and magenta-tinted red lip were a modern spin on the old Hollywood beauty classics.

Cate Blanchett In Prabal Gurung – G’Day USA Los Angeles Black Tie Gala

Cate Blanchett In Prabal Gurung - G’Day USA Los Angeles Black Tie Gala

Cate Blanchett’s third look following the 3rd annual AACTA International Awards and the BAFTA LA 2014 Awards Season Tea Party came at the 2014 G’Day USA Los Angeles Black Tie Gala held at the JW Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE on Saturday (January 11) in Los Angeles, California joining Naomi Watts.

This look, the best of the three, comes courtesy of Prabal Gurung.

The Pre-Fall 2014 look consists of a strapless satin gown featuring a fitted bodice with black beaded embroidery and a pleated-waist tulip skirt with a painted floral graphic, worn with a short-sleeved satin crop top with the same floral graphic.

She styled the look with Chopard blue-sapphire briolette cluster earrings and Christian Louboutin ‘Miss Rigidaine’ black patent-leather d’Orsay pumps with grey PVC detailing, with sleek tresses and a vibrant fuchsia-pink lip rounding out her look.

The silhouette is such that Cate looks 6ft tall here. I’m delighted she kept the crop top, as the look may not have felt so fashion-forward without it.

For most, topping a look as amazing as this would be impossible, but I’m sure Cate will do one better at the Golden Globes this evening.
