Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Please be upstanding, the Queen is back.

Cate Blanchett is currently in Tokyo to promote her favorite brand of skincare, SKII.

We’ve been picking Armani Prive Spring 2010 wish lists for Cate, but on this occasion she joined Asian celebrities on stage wearing a jeweled red silk Alberta Ferretti Fall 2009 dress.

The colour really pops, and I’m grateful that she opted for the red instead of the black.

The high neckline elongates her even more.

I love the quiff, but I’m a tad disappointed that the split in her dress which revealed the tops of the tights.

This is why I hate tights, they ruin everything. j/k

Later in the evening a dinner party was held in Cate’s honour and it was here she floors me.

The actress was breath-taking wearing a Chanel dress from the Chanel Paris-Shanghai Métiers D’Arts Pre-Fall 2010 collection.

Her black organza gown is exquisite with the gold trims and floral embroidered details.

Gold heels, diamond earrings and simple make-up complete the look.

Between seeing Dita yesterday and Cate in these pictures, I’ve reached my perfection quota for the month.

BDOTW contender. I’m predicting a 3 clothes-horse race.

“Friday Night with Jonathan Ross” London

Reese Witherspoon was in London this week to meet MPs at London’s House of Commons to talk about domestic violence issues, as part of her role as honorary chairwoman of the Avon Foundation.

Whilst in London she took time out to visit the “Jonathan Ross Show” which is tape on Thursday but aired on Friday.

Her lace dress could be a modified dress from Stella McCartney’s Resort 2010 collection, which she pairs with bold red lipstick and cute Stella McCartney mesh heels.

She’s glowing here. I just love this look.

“The Young Victoria” Los Angeles Premiere

Emily Blunt wears a short and sassy black and white print flutter sleeved Marchesa dress.

The black ribbon is a nice touch, the tights I can live with but I’m not so crazy about her heels.

“Invictus” LA Premiere

I love the texture of Michelle Monaghan’s silver one-shoulder RM by Roland Mouret dress.

The voluminous hips are flattering rather than disguising, and I love her accessories including her Diego Dolcini heels and statement necklace which really brings this look to life.

BAM Belle Reve Gala With A Performance Of A Streetcar Named Desire, New York

Cate Blanchett opted for a grey strapless Armani Prive dress with a lace overlay, paired with black pumps.

Even without the wow factor, Cate still looks great.

I would kill for those stunning earrings.

19th Annual Beat The Odds Awards, LA

Zoe Saldana plays is safe wearing a navy blue Alaia dress paired with a Alaia belt and black pumps.

This is a tad boring for me.

BBC 2 Gig, London

Immigration clearly didn’t get my memo.

Leona Lewis wearing corsets with everything is just not funny anymore.

The girl needs an intervention.

Michelle Obama dazzled you wearing a custom-made Naeem Khan sleeveless gown sans cardigan, to the first state dinner at the White House this week.

Even those of you who have struggled to embrace her style said, “At last she has worn something that befits a First Lady”.

Michelle was my 3rd choice behind Franziska Knuppe and the outstanding Cate Blanchett.

Cate looked flawless in her Armani Privé asymmetrical dress which she wore to a dinner host by Giorgio Armani in New York this week.

The purple colour looked amazing against her milky skin, the shape defines and narrows her waist, plus the loose updo perfectly frames her face.

Long may the Queen reign the red carpet.

How do you top a Thandie Newton post?

With a Cate Blanchett post of course.

The Australian actress has come out of hibernation to flaunt her fabulousity.

She was in New York last night as Giorgio Armani welcomed her and the Sydney Theatre Company with a dinner at Armani Ristorante.

She looked so elegant wearing an indigo Armani Privé Spring 2009 one-padded-shouldered dress with a gathered tasselled detail on her hip.

I love the modification, it fits her style so perfectly and proves why she’s the perfect muse for Mr Armani.

The actress is in New York to star in the play “A Streetcar Named Desire” at the BAM Harvey Theater.

Some of you have told me that you’ve got tickets to see the play which runs from 27 November -20 December.

Cate Blanchett was shot by Annie Leibovitz for the December 2009 issue of Vogue US looking like a goddess or a beautiful Oscar statue wearing a golden strapless Donna Karan gown.

The rest of the editorial sees the actress wearing Armani Prive, Oscar de la Renta and the same Valentino dress we’ve seen on Victoria Beckham’s Elle October 2009 editorial and Rose Byrne on the red carpet at the 2009 Emmy Awards.

If you are having a touch of de ja vu looking at Cate’s editorial, that’s because it’s very very similar to the editorial which was also shot by Annie Leibovitz for the February 2009 issue of Vanity Fair.

Here are some extracts from her interview:

On career choices: “I’m not very cautious or careful. It’s always been more about having a variety of experiences than any planned trajectory.”

Cate Blanchett was the guest of honor at the Vogue Australia 50th Anniversary Dinner and she’s also graces 4 covers of their commemorative issue which goes on sale this Wednesday.

Vogue Australia editor-in-chief Kirstie Clements opted to capture the great Cate via illustration instead of photography.

David Downtown captured the actress in four separate poses wearing looks by Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Martin Grant and Armani for the quartet of covers.

As much as I like this idea, it would’ve had major goosebumps had the images been photographic.

Cate picked the designers herself knowing they’d be the ones to bring out the best in her, but I can’t help but feel this was a missed opportunity to capture her at her best.

See the rest of the covers in illustration below.
