Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Speaking of regal beauties at the ‘Life of Pi’ opening gala screening – held on day one of the Dubai lnternational Film Festival at the Madinat Jumeirah Complex in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Sunday evening – Cate Blanchett joined Frieda Pinto in dropping jaws in awe on the red carpet.

There was a brief moment where we feared our Queen had lost her way, but she was firmly back on course wearing this stunning Rodarte Spring 2013 gown.

Her dusty-blue drop-shoulder silk gown with burnt-orange panels at the waist and floaty chiffon skirt has us bowing down saying “we are not worthy”.

Thankfully, she removed the chain accent and burnt orange hot-pants, taking away the edge and softening the look.

What was a daring look on the runway has been transformed into an ethereal, sophisticated look which is already in contention for BDOTW.

Soft, complexion-enhancing makeup, a silver watch, stud earrings, Jimmy Choo heels and a simple updo completed her look.

I was very excited to see Cate Blanchett back on the red carpet this evening in Wellington, New Zealand for the world premiere of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’.

Her first look of this promo tour was an Antonio Berardi Resort 2013 gown.

The tri-colour look has a lot of elements, with the sheer red top with a fitted bustier, white corset-like centre and long black crepe skirt, but Queen Cate manages to pull it off.

Simple styling was the key to making this look work, so Cate added a beaded bracelet, stud earrings and Roger Vivier ‘Prismick’ sandals to her look.

Her short blonde bob was accented with a silver clip to provide the finishing touch.

What a way to kick start the campaign. I hope she continues to opt for bold looks like this throughout the tour. Fingers crossed.

We were all in shock, not in a good way, when we saw Cate Blanchett take to the red carpet at the 2012 Helpmann Awards, held in Sydney, Australia last month.

That’s because we found ourselves not liking her Fendi look.

Her LBD with balloon sleeves was styled with equally lacklustre all black accessories.

Zhang Ziyi wore the look a week later to the Dangerous Liasons’ press conference during the 17th Busan Film Festival in South Korea.

The actress totally transformed the look by taking styling inspiration from the runway, adding the peplum corseted belt, textured bolero and Fendi ‘Fendista’ pumps.

This is an easy win for Zhang.

Cate Blanchett attended Elle’s 19th Annual Women in Hollywood celebration, which was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, yesterday evening.

The Australian actress wore a Proenza Schouler Spring 2013 dress to the Calvin Klein sponsored event – our first look from this collection on the red carpet.

Her multi-coloured print dress with fitted waist, blue dotted details on the bodice and grommet details along the hem of the skirt was styled with conservative accessories.

They included Roger Vivier bow-accented pumps and a black box clutch.

A simple updo completed her much-improved-from-her-last-outing look.

After a long absence from the red carpet, Cate Blanchett hit the red carpet at the 2012 Helpmann Awards in Sydney, Australia, last week.

The actress wore an LBD from the Fendi Fall 2012 collection.

Between the waxy-looking balloon sleeves and the suffocating neckline, I can’t say this is Cate’s finest hour.

A black leather clutch and black round-toe pumps completed this instantly forgettable look.

I just wish Cate would find her way back to Armani. It’s the place where she was at her happiest.

Cate Blanchett attended the Gotham Magazine party at The London Hotel in New York City last night to celebrate her cover.

Even though I’m still recovering from her first Givenchy Resort 2013 look from earlier in the week, the actress selected her second look from said collection for this event.

Once again I’m not excited about this look.

Cate has always has a good relationship with Givenchy, but maybe she should consider going on a break because this collection is not doing her any favours.

The black-and-white blouse would’ve looked great with a simple black pencil skirt or cropped pants, because I really dislike the printed pencil skirt.

Then factor in those Roger Vivier ‘Cloud’ black lace-up open-toe booties once again, plus the black-and-orange Givenchy woven clutch and we have yet another overly fussy look.
