Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Carly Rae Jepsen may have the bright, bubblegum pop hit of the season with her ‘Call Me Maybe’ track. But for Sunday night’s 2013 Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, the nominated songstress took a darker, edgier turn.

Following in the heels of Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert, Carly Rae also wore a Roberto Cavalli dress for the evening.

The strapless, glittering statement almost looked slick with its cascade of shine that continued into the fishtail train.

No jewels were really necessary to add sparkle to this look, but she did accessorize with a gold Cuyana bracelet and H. Stern ring. And Jerome C. Rousseau’s ‘Mikon’ black patent, peep-toe Mary Janes were her shoe of choice.

The sultry mood continued with Carly’s dark locks and blunt bang, not to mention her silver eye shadow and nude lippie.

On the red carpet, Carly did admit she was a bit stressed when it came to finding her Grammys gown. After trying on eight different looks, she decided on this Cavalli number.

Did she make the right choice in your opinion?

Carly Rae Jepsen In Izmaylova - 2013 NRJ Music Awards

Many of you have struggled to warm to Carly Rae Jepsen’s style, so I’m intrigued to find out what you think of her 2013 NRJ Music Awards look.

The ‘Call Me Maybe’ singer donned a brown satin and suede Izmaylova gown on the red carpet at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France last night.

While brown isn’t my favourite red carpet colour, this has to be the most grown up look we’ve seen from the 27-year-old musician.

A rectangular L.K.Bennett ‘Alexia’ clutch, kohl-rimmed eyes and sleek straight tresses completed her look.

Carly Rae Jepsen In Sachin + Babi - Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2013

Carly Rae Jepsen was also one of the guest performers during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2013, which was held at Times Square on Monday in New York City.

Like Taylor Swift, the ‘Call Me Maybe’ singer also wore red and black, donning a part-velvet, part-sheer black cropped top with a Sachin + Babi Spring 2013 maxi skirt.

After her performance, the singer tweeted that she wore long johns under her scarlet red multi-layered-tulle embroidered appliquéd maxi skirt, which was a smart idea.

Channelling her inner 80s Madonna, she added black lace fingerless gloves to her look.

An array of jewels, pink lips and wavy locks provided the finishing touches.

What’s wrong with this look?

The skirt is too long and it also sits too high on her waist.

Carly Rae Jepsen zipped into a sparkly blue Rachel Zoe frock for Billboard’s Women in Music Luncheon on Friday.

The playful design from the stylist-turned reality star-turned designer’s Resort 2013 collection looked pitch-perfect on Carly, though I can’t say the same about her oversize DVF clutch and matte-mauve lipstick.

For a rock’n’roll industry event such as this, Carly could’ve gone edgier by subbing in sleeker accessories: a leather cuff in lieu of that forgettable bracelet, a pair of noirish single-sole Alexander Wang slingbacks over those Brian Atwood covered-platform clunkers, and topped it off with her dark tresses pulled back into a low ponytail.

How would you have reaccessorized Carly’s look?

The 2012 American Music Awards held in LA on Sunday evening was Carly Rae Jepsen’s second music awards ceremony within a week.

On this occasion she wore a very pretty pink Gomez-Gracia gown.

Nominated for ‘New Artist of the Year’, the singer’s baby-pink, backless, deep v halter gown, shimmering with thousands of iridescent micro-sequins, was styled with a complementary pink Edie Parker clutch.

Many of you disliked Carly’s hairstyle at the EMAs, but she lightened her hair colour to soften her look and opted for a side-swept bun this time around.

Frosty pink lips, to complement her dress, and silvery eye shadow provided the finishing touches.

Much improved from the EMAs, or are you not impressed with this look?

Prior to her crowd surfing performance and picking up the gongs for ‘Best Push’ and ‘Best Song’, Carly Rae Jepsen took to the red carpet in Frankfurt, Germany for the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards.

The brunette beauty wore a shimmering Johanna Johnson silver lace strapless gown which she styled with a mirror clutch with gold hardware.

Her gown is nice enough, but I wish she cinched in her waist with a silver metal waistband.

What I do love is that deep red lip colour and even with her long blunt bangs, her baby blues really pop.

Speaking to Carly at the event she said, “My style icons are Cate Blanchett, she always looks amazing, I like both the Olsens because they are my height, 5’2” and if they can pull something off maybe I can too! I’ve been watching MTV since I was a little girl so tonight is amazing.”
