Red Carpet Fashion Awards

British actress Carey Mulligan is at the 2010 Toronto Film Festival to promote her new movie, “Never Let Me Go.”

I thought it would’ve been easy to guess Carey’s red carpet look for this premiere – Prada or Miu Miu – but she surprised me by wearing a British designer.

I say I’m surprised because during awards season she only wore a British designer once which I think is a shame because she could’ve given many designers some much needed international coverage. *steps down of my soap box*

She wore a Christopher Kane Resort 2011 dress with an ‘Out of Space’ print.

Her sleeveless high-neck dress was paired with ruby Prada pumps.

Despite the fact that her look is neither Prada nor Miu Miu the silhouette remains the same.

Carey Mulligan was at The Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills yesterday attending a press conference for her new movie “Never Let Me Go.”

I guess we’ll be seeing more of the British actress on the red carpet in the coming weeks as she promotes this movie and “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.”

At the press conference she look lovely sporting her trademark blonde crop wearing a Marc Jacobs Hannah dress from the Fall 2010 collection.

Her nude silk dress with jewelled bow detail at neckline is similar to the dress we saw on Alexa Chung earlier this year at the CFDA Awards.

Beige suede pumps complete the look.

Before we knew much about Carey Mulligan and before she was a blonde, she attended the CFDA Awards back in June last year.

Zoe Saldana was the most high profile star to wear Calvin Klein to this event, but Carey also opted for a Francisco Costa design wearing a grey sheer Resort 2010 dress with a visible ivory bra.

Silver T-bar sandals and a grey clutch completed her look.

Diane Kruger opted for the red hot version of the same dress when she attended the Vanity Fair Oscar Party earlier this year.

Her styling is flawless, but I’m just not crazy about the dress.

If forced to choose I will go with Diane purely because I prefer the red to the grey.

Carey Mulligan arrived at the Cannes Film Festival premiere for her new movie “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” this evening.

Sporting marcel waves for the first time, the British actress looked stunning in a custom-made Azzaro Fall 2010 gown.

The beaded collar is exquisite and I love that bow detail too.

You wanted something new and she delivered.

I like the sleek silhouette as I tire of those 50s style dresses she favours.

I didn’t have high expectations so I’m not at all disappointed with this look.

Are you?

Carey Mulligan made her first official appearance at Cannes Film Festival today.

The British actress joined co-stars Josh Brolin, Michael Douglas, Frank Langella and Shia Labeouf for the photocall of their new movie “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”.

I almost didn’t recognise her RM by Roland Mouret ‘Pazeau’ dress from the Fall 2010 collection, because those long sleeved hooded tops were such a vital part of this presentation.

I really like this look.

It’s appropriate for a photocall without being too aging.

In the company of veteran actors like Michael Douglas and Frank Langela, you don’t want to be trying too hard nor wearing something too cutesy.

I like that she wore the look with the black runway belt which loops twice around the waist of her apron dress.

Barely there make-up and Fendi suede chiffon cutout sandals complete the look.

Let’s hope she keeps up her current good form for the premiere tonight.

Carey Mulligan was spotted arriving by boat to Cannes today with her boyfriend and co-star Shia LaBeouf.

About 6 months ago I would’ve been excited about Carey being at Cannes, but following the a few mishaps most notably her Met Gala disaster I’m not getting my hopes up.

She did look gorgeous today wearing a Prada dress from the new Prada Print Collection with Ferragamo pumps.

This collection was inspired by a 1950s flared fitted-at-the-waist dress, which is very much Carey’s style.

The print reference is from the Prada archives.

Prada Print Collection is on sale now.
