Jessica Biel In Giambattista Valli Couture – 2013 Met Gala

Like several other stars, Jessica Biel stuck to black for the 2013 Met Gala in New York City.

But, far from basic black was her strapless Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture ensemble, worn with a wrist clutch and black slingback shoes from the design house.

The cinched-in, strapless bodice showed off Jessica’s small waist and stunning shoulders.

Then, came the drama with the mullet silhouette, which was shrouded in a flurry of tulle and a long train. Spiderweb-like leggings, as seen on the runway, increased the grunge-gorgeous meter here.

Maybe not wanting to competing with her couture gown, Jessica went for minimal, nude makeup and a sleek ponytail. No earrings and no necklace were part of this look, but a Fred Leighton cuff did make the cut.

Allison Williams In Altuzarra – 2013 Met Gala

Allison Williams brought her best punk princess style to Monday’s Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The ‘Girls’s star won me over in a sexy gown by Altuzarra.

Nothing says punk like all black, especially when it includes sheer panels and lace. Allison joined many other starlets by opting for long sleeves, but she showed off her figure with a sheer skirt and lace panels along her sides and midriff.

Smokey winged eye shadow, a nude lip and glossy, casual waves completed Allison’s punk perfection.

Heidi Klum In Marchesa – 2013 Met Gala

Heidi Klum looked her usual stunning self in Marchesa on the Met Gala‘s red carpet.

It’s no surprise, but the former supermodel actually shows up the runway model in this structural white and silver gown from Marchesa’s Fall 2013 collection. Having some curves really bring this gown to life.

I really don’t think anyone call pull off the tightly fastened updo better than Heidi, and she proved my point tonight. Most people look better with a slightly softer frame around their face, but with Heidi’s bone structure, she doesn’t need her hair’s help!

This whole look is decidedly ‘un-punk,’ and I’m a little disappointed that Heidi didn’t ‘go for it’, since she’s no shrinking violet when it comes to red carpet risks.

She looks gorgeous, but I wish she’d saved this look for a different event and did something over-the-top tonight.

Florence Welch In Givenchy – 2013 Met Gala

Florence Welch wowed on the 2013 Met Gala red carpet at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The singer put a vampy-bohemian spin on her ode to punk with a full-on fringe gown from the Givenchy Fall 2012 Couture collection.

Since Riccardo Tisci is a co-chair of tonight’s gala, it’s only natural that Florence wore the designer—and that she looked quite remarkable in his dress.

She’s statuesque enough to pull off this dramatic, long-sleeve creation and its floor-sweeping tassels without being overwhelmed.

But, truth be told, it was really Florence’s fiery-red locks that sold me on this all-black, rock-glam look.

On anyone else (or with any other hair colour), it would not have translated as powerfully.

Miley Cyrus In Marc Jacobs – 2013 Met Gala

Miley Cyrus has been building her punk sartorial cred for a while now, so it’s no surprise she dressed 100% for the Met Gala theme of ‘PUNK: Chaos to Couture’ in New York City on Monday.

Miley vamped it up in a look from Marc Jacobs Fall 2013. Her long-sleeved black mesh gown and nude underpinning was a straight shot ode to the punk era.

Theme aside, the style was very Miley–mostly edgy with a hint of sex appeal. The dress grazed over her curves for a sexy, yet covered feel.

Clearly dedicated to the punk style, I love that Miley went for the theme, but I wish she had just taken a step back with her hair. The spiky ‘do is a bit over the top and I’d much prefer to see her red lip paired with deep side part and slicked back strands.

Sarah Jessica Parker In Giles – 2013 Met Gala

We knew we could count on fashion-girl Sarah Jessica Parker to fully embody the ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ theme of the 2013 Met Gala in New York City on Monday.

Making one of the most grand and unforgettable entrances of the evening, SJP’s look was head-and-shoulders above the rest—literally.

She donned a paint-splattered, gold-leaf gown from the Giles Fall 2013 collection, but she added far more theatrics to the abstract-printed runway look with a custom Philip Treacy headpiece.

Rather than coax her hair into a mohawk, she crowned her locks with this radical fascinator and, in so doing, cemented her status as the punk-belle of the ball.

With the voluminous, high-low cut of the dress, her very-visible, over-the-knee Christian Louboutin velvet boots would have been a talking point, if it weren’t for that ‘hawk.

The same goes for her Fred Leighton jewels. No amount of sparkle could compete with the glinting gold of that hat or the gown.

Whew! Did SJP blow you away with her ferocious, no-holds-barred look?
