Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Singer Brandy Norwood features in an amazing editorial which was shot by Steven Golmillion and Denis Leupold for 160g Magazine.

The stunning editorial will help reintroduced Brandy to the limelight as she promotes her new music which has been produced by Timbaland.

You’d be forgiven if you thought it was Naomi Campbell in these pictures. Brandy throws down some mean poses.

What I loved most about this editorial was the use of lesser known designers.

In the picture above she’s wearing peach structured William Tempest swimsuit with Ana Locking heels with a multi-coloured platform.

The rest of the editorial sees Brandy wearing more amazing pieces by Spanish designer Ana Locking and a swimsuit by Malia Mills.

Here are the rest of the look from the 2010 BET Awards.

LaLa Vazquez opted for a black long sleeved sequin dress with black suede pumps.  Like Ciara she must have been sweating all the way down this red carpet.

Melody Thornton opted for silver and black striped dress which is probably from Bebe because it’s a totally Balmain Fall 2009 knock off.

Vivica A Fox wore the same Zuhair Murad Spring 2010 dress which we saw on the red carpet last week at Twilight premiere worn by Elizabeth Reaser.

Taraji P. Henson wore an ice Mandalay asymmetrical ruched cocktail dress.  She was one of the few not to wear long sleeves.

Now that Rihanna is no longer sporting her blonde ‘do, Keri Hilson has decided to take on the look.

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but I think shows how Keri lacks originality.

She also sports a long sleeved dress like so many on this red carpet, but her vintage Bill Blass dress had a cheetah print.

Jada Pinkett-Smith showed off her legs wearing a onesie.

I admire her bravery.  I would never leave the house looking like this, no matter how fashionable it was.

WNBA player Lisa Leslie wore a Stella McCartney Spring 2010 dress, whilst Brandy looked stunning wearing a textured grey dress with embellished Sergio Rossi heels.

Actress Odette Yustman wore this black and white Paule Ka dress from the Spring 2010 Black Carpet Collection to the “InStyle Golden Globes” after-party in LA.

I think this dress is really cute and quirky. I love how Odette has matched her shoes to the metallic waistband on her dress.

Singer Brandy wore the same dress a couple of weeks later to Motown’s Grammy Nominee Party in LA.

Her hair and make up is flawless here.

She pairs her dress with a heavy bangle and I’m loving the t-bar design of her heels which makes her look more interesting.

Odette looks great but Brandy is outstanding, so she wins this one for me.

R&B stars Kelly Rowland and Brandy put on their best glad rags to attend the Motown Grammy after-party held at the W hotel in Los Angeles hotel this week.

Kelly’s attendance may confirm that she’s signed her new record deal with Motown.

Kelly sported a very very bad wig, but I do like her Basil Soda Spring 2009 Couture dress.

The plunging jewel encrusted dress had a satin tiered skirt.  The singer complemented the dress with nude heels and a matching clutch.

Brandy opted for something with a bit of sass and sex appeal.

She wore a Paule Ka bustier dress from the Spring 2010 black carpet collection.

The dress with a white draped skirt and a charcoal sash tied to the waist, was paired with an interesting pair of black strappy sandals.

If this was a who looked better? contest, Brandy would win.

Best Couture/Best Dressed Award
I LOVE, Love, Love Hilary Swank in this lilac Givenchy Fall 2008 Couture one-shouldered dress.

The colour, the matching shoes and the draping detail, I love it all.

I would not have thought that Hilary would pick something so edgy, but it works.

I would have loved if she had taken this look further and spiked her hair or messed it up a little.

Best Non-Dress Award
Even in a silver blazer and tight fitting pants, Charlize Theron still rocks it.

Her blazer was fresh off the runway from the Rag & Bone Spring 2009 presentation she had attended earlier on in the day.

She completes her look with a Dior statement necklace.

Surprisingly Fabulous Award
If someone had told that Brandy was going to be wearing a dress from the Lanvin Fall 2008 collection, I would predicted it would be a disaster, but she totally pulls off this Lanvin shiny black structured dress.

And I commend her for making it work, because this is not an easy dress too pull off.

I always assumed that whoever wore it on the red carpet, would make the dress look like a dustbin liner, and she does not.

She completes her look with the now popular YSL Trib Two Platform Pumps.

Best Black Award
Rihanna’s Monique Lhuiller Fall 2008 strapless gown with a ruffled neckline, and a jeweled belt, was so fantastic, that I hardly noticed how much I dislike her current hair cut.

What A Refreshing Change Award
You can normally rely on Beyonce to wear a blinged out dress, or a ridiculous tight fitting mermaid style dress, but on this occasion we have a very cute navy mini dress with accentuated, velvet shoulders.

Very classy, very understated, very chic. I love it.

Best Va-Va Voom Curves Award
With Beyonce toning it down, we had to look to Ciara to provide va-va voom curves, and she did, wearing a stunning black and white sequined Elie Saab Fall 2008 asymmetric gown.

She has an amazing body, and this dress fits her like a glove.

No So Lame Award
For once I don’t hate what Paula Abdul is wearing, in fact I really like it, as it compliments her stunning figure.

The gold lame dress is not over the top, its not tacky, its so not like Paula.

Best Mini/Best Legs Award
Hayden Panettiere really loves showing off her legs lately, and she does so again wearing a multi-coloured chain-mail Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2008 mini.

I much prefer the Heroes star with longer locks.

Best Use Of Colour Award
There was not a lot of bright colour on the red carpet last night, so I thank Kate Mara for providing that, with her Zac Posen multi coloured knit dress.

Don’t You Scrub Up Well Award
Who knew Emily Procter had this in her?

Emily is not one to take to the red carpet too often, but she looks amazing here with her champagne sequined Collette Dinnigan Fall 2008 dress and glossy mane.

Just OK Award
Leona Lewis would have got more than ‘Just OK’ had she worn her beautiful black and white Roberto Cavalli Resort 2009 mini dress without the tights.

I love the embroidery on the bodice of this dress.

Best Sparkle Award
I love a sparkling embellished dress, and Molly Sims’ Donna Karan dress is just that.

Most Surprising Award
Vivica A. Fox surprisingly does not offend me, as for once she does not look like one of those honeys from a rap video.

Her look is sophisticated in this black Oscar de la Renta Silk faille embroidered dress which she teams with bowed Christian Louboutin Very Noeud slingbacks.

Most Improved Award
Ashanti goes up and down all the time. This time she does well. It would not be my choice, but she works this heavily embellished fuchsia Marchesa Spring 2008 dress with cut-out detail very well.

Best Dress/Clutch Combo
Award
I love how Elizabeth Banks Stella McCartney’s Pre-Fall 2008 dress compliment each other, but I am a little disappointed with her hairstyle.
