Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Mens 23 Oct

It was another busy night on the red carpet for the heroes of Hollywood. Here is a quick look at what they wore.

Benedict Cumberbatch: The British actor joined Lupita Nyong’o for the opening of the Bally flagship store in London. Wearing a more casual look than we’ve seen from the usually suited and booted actor, this Bally look featuring a pinstriped blazer for added sharpness gets a rousing thumbs up from me.

Eddie Redmayne: Joining fellow Brit star Felicity Jones for the screening of their latest movie, ‘The Theory Of Everything’, the former model was decked out in Gucci once again, also working a semi-casual look. Donning a white dress shirt and camel ’60s sport trousers, the royal-blue plain-knit crew-neck sweater injects a touch of charm, with the sunglasses giving the look a cool finish.

GQ Men Of The Year Awards Menswear Roundup

GQ Men1

Even though the girls grabbed plenty of stares at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, hosted in association with Hugo Boss at The Royal Opera House in London, England on Tuesday (September 2), the evening was about the guys, after all. Many in the handsome bunch were naturally dressed to impress.

Douglas Booth: Rather appropriately attired in a bespoke BOSS Made to Measure suit to accept his Hugo Boss Most Stylish Man award, the actor didn’t leave anyone guessing as to his sartorial cred. He was as charming as ever in this navy-blue number. The perfect bow tie was my favourite part—the icing on the cake.

Dan Stevens: The British actor and one of the evening’s presenters wore a Dior Homme Prussian blue slim, shawl-collar tuxedo with a white cotton wing-tip tuxedo shirt and black patent leather derbies. The colour of the suit was obviously selected to bring out his intense baby-blue gaze, which helped detract from the fact that the black satin bow tie was rather oversized.

Benedict Cumberbatch: The Actor of the Year winner took a monochromatic approach in an all-black three-piece Spencer Hart suit and tie. He could have done better for his big night.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Blake Lively in Gucci Première, Cate Blanchett In Armani Privé, Ryan Reynolds in Gucci & Benedict Cumberbatch in Ralph Lauren

BDOTW Cannes

With so much going on this weekend I almost forgot to announce who was best dressed of the week.

Well, it was a two-way tie between Blake Lively in Gucci Première and Blake Lively in Gucci Première. While I believed her opening ceremony gown was the better of the two, it would appear you guys loved them both equally.

My choice was the great Cate Blanchett in Armani Privé. What can I say; it’s a match made in fashion heaven.

When it came to the fellas, you gave Ryan Reynolds in Gucci the top honour this week. I, on the other hand, was swept away by Benedict Cumberbatch in his impeccable Ralph Lauren Black Label suit.

The Royal Marsden Dinner Red Carpet Roundup

The Royal Marsden Dinner Red Carpet Roundup

There were plenty more lovely ladies, plus Benedict Cumberbatch, who attended The Royal Marsden Dinner, hosted by the Duke of Cambridge at Windsor Castle in England on Tuesday (May 13).

Zhang Ziyi, Emma Watson and Margot Robbie all wore grey, but here we have a lot of black Ralph Lauren looks.

Kate Moss: The British model was the only one not to follow the Ralph Lauren dress code, opting for a black one-sleeve dress with a side slit styled with sexy black strappy Christian Louboutin ‘Audrey’ sandals and a silver clutch.

Benedict Cumberbatch: Following on from his Met Gala best-dressed-actor triumph, the ‘Sherlock’ star proved it was no fluke, looking very dashing in a Ralph Lauren Black Label peak-lapel tuxedo.

Lily James: Looking very much the lady of the manor, the ‘Downton Abbey’ actress wore a Ralph Lauren one-of-a-kind black and gold gown embroidered with feathers and beads. This was one of my favourites: dramatic and glamorous.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Blake Lively In Gucci Premiere, Karolina Kurkova In Marchesa, Benedict Cumberbatch In Ralph Lauren & Douglas Booth In Burberry

BD1 12 May

There was just no separating Blake Lively and Karolina Kurkova this week.

Both taking 34% of your votes, they were neck and neck all weekend.

Blake swept you off your feet with her dazzling return to the red carpet in Gucci Premiere, while Karolina’s Marchesa sculpted strapless satin-organza gown was not only a thing of beauty but was also one of the very few looks which lived up to the theme. This was my favourite too.

‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug’ Berlin Premiere Menswear Roundup

'The Hobbit The Desolation Of Smaug' Berlin Premiere Menswear Roundup

Fittingly dapper, Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Armitage, Luke Evans and Orlando Bloom joined Evangeline Lilly on the red carpet at the Sony Centre in Germany last night for the Berlin premiere of ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.’

Benedict Cumberbatch: The British actor came suited in a Dolce & Gabbana blue velvet blazer, bow tie and grey trousers. This is the actors second Dolce & Gabbana velvet suit having worn a red velvet blazer to the LA premiere earlier this month.

Richard Armitage: Keeping up the blue trend, which would be continued throughout the night, Richard Armitage opted for a opted for a navy Unconditional suit set off by a blue tie and shirt. By all accounts, this is a well matched look with a colourful pocket square preventing the look from feeling too one-note.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Menswear 2 DecFrom movie premieres to the awards stage, the guys suited up over the past few days to hit the red carpet, impressing at every sartorial turn.

Orlando Bloom: Decked in a Lanvin Fall 2013 ensemble, Orlando attended ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ Los Angeles premiere on Monday. Although his navy one-button tuxedo with black grosgrain shawl collar and white cotton dress shirt with French cuffs and antique silver cuff links were formal, his tie-less approach and black patent-leather, cap-toe sneakers kicked this look into more casual-cool territory.

Idris Elba: At the ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ Paris premiere on Monday, Idris put his own spin on fifty shades of grey in a Dior Homme grey-checquered wool, notch-lapel two-button suit, paired with a black, cotton poplin shirt and a black silk tie. Grey loafers finished his outing; a nice departure from black.

Benedict Cumberbatch: The British actor strode out his dapper best at the ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ Los Angeles premiere. His Dolce & Gabbana three-piece tuxedo featured a luxe, deep mahogany velvet blazer with contrasting shawl lapel, worn with a charcoal-grey vest and tux-stripe pants and a pert black bow tie.
