Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Vogue Australia 50th Anniversary Dinner, Syndey

Unfortunately we didn’t get any dramatic looks, no picks from our Red Carpet Wish lists and no couture from Cate Blanchett at this event, but regardless it’s always a treat to see her on the red carpet.

She looks outstanding wearing a burnt orange long sleeved vintage Ossie Clark gown with an ivory necklace.

“A Streetcar Named Desire” Press Night, London

Rachel Weisz wore an animal print Isabel Marant Fall 2009 sheer with black peep-toes accented with a gold floral detail.

Although I’m not crazy about the detail on her shoes, I adore her dress, even though it’s showing us her bra.

Isabel Marant make such fabulous pieces.  I hope we see more celebrities wearing their pieces in future.

Out & About, Berlin

Even when she’s out shopping in Berlin, Diane Kruger is still incredibly stylish.

The German actress wore a Stella McCartney Resort 2010 ensemble which included a yellow tank top she wore off-the-shoulder, with a blue striped tulip skirt.

She added flats and a white Chanel quilted bag to complete her ‘off-duty’ look.

I adore her skirt. Another piece added to my never-ending wish list.

X-Games “Red Bull Toasted” Honors Action Sports Icon Travis Pastrana, LA

A LBD as short and tight as this can go so wrong, but I think Audrina Patridge looks amazing in this Michelle Mason Spring 2009 dress.

She’s starting to come into her own now that she’s no longer in Lauren’s shadow.

“Taking Woodstock” New York Premiere

With her long wavy hair falling down her shoulders, Claire Danes wore a blue silk Sonia Rykiel Resort 2010 wrap dress with delicate ruffles.

Her dress is longer than the runway version, which I can’t say I’m surprised about considering we’re talking about Claire Danes.

In keeping with her usual simple style, she only added a platinum bracelet and strappy heels to complete her look.

Lynn Collins has finally been weened off wearing top hats to every red carpet appearance, but she’s replaced that look with a headband.

Wearing a Kova & T green mini dress and nude Brian Atwood Katie Bis sandals I would say her look was great had it not been for the over excessive bronzing.

Dolce & Gabbana: The Make Up Selfridges Launch, London

So now all those Scarlett Johansson posters in Selfridges yesterday make sense, they were prepping for Scarlett’s Dolce & Gabbana make-up launch.

The actress looked very sophisticated and refined in her Dolce & Gabbana ensemble. I especially love her floral flutter sleeve blouse and orange sorbet peep-toes, but I’m still struggling with the hair.

I do usually love Scarlett wearing bold red lips, but I don’t think it quite works with her ensemble.

“JLo for Yamamay” Collection Launch, Rome

Jennifer Lopez was in Rome yesterday to promote her new underwear collection.

The actress wore an ivory chiffon gown with an embellished neckline and a matching Alaia waist belt.

She carried a glittering silver Swarovski clutch which sparkled like her jeweled T-bar sandals.

Her locks were have been lighten with some blonde streaks which I’m not particularly fond of.

How many of you feel like you have seen this look many times before?

Mont Blanc, Austria

Dita von Teese wore a traditional Austrian dirndl while at the Mont Blanc boutique in Salzburg.

It would’ve been great if she’d changed her hairstyle just this once to really get into the spirit of things.

2009 Salzburg Festival – ‘Welcome to Nowhere’ Premiere, Austria

This is the Dita von Teese we’re most used to seeing, looking glamorous wearing a Moschino cream tiered plisse chiffon gown.

AMC Cocktail Reception, LA

Christina Hendricks strikes a stunning pose wearing a emerald Catherine Malandrino pleated empire waist dress with ruffle sleeves.

Gold accessories complete this look.

January Jones wore an interesting sheer Sretsis dress with two diamante bow appliqués to cover her modesty.

I love her hairstyle. Tres chic.

Comic Con Day 2

Jennifer Connelly can go either way. Chic or edgy.

On this occasion she opted for chic, wearing a navy RM by Roland Mouret Mistral long sleeve dress with silver strappy sandals.

The pencil dress with pleated detailing on the bodice gives Jennifer a sleek silhouette.

Effortless and gorgeous as always.

Last week I wondered if Anna Faris was glowing in her Jay Godfrey dress. Now I realise that it’s the San Diego sunshine that is giving the stars at “Comic Con” a positive glow.

Regular readers will know I am dead against Audrina Patridge’s lighter locks, but when she looks this beautiful in her fitted cream Karl Lagerfeld dress with matching Christian Louboutin Differa sandals, I can’t help but think this is one of her best ever red carpet looks.

My feelings for Hervé Léger dresses changes with each wearer.

On Kim Kardashian I hate them, but I think Kristin Bell looks really cute in her forest green dress.

I really wish more stars would wear the more interesting Fall 2009 pieces, but Kristin manages to stay on the right side of tasteful so I can forgive on this occasion.

Maybe that’s because she’s not showing us her bootie in the dress and also she paired her dress with a stunning necklace, and nude Jimmy Choo’s.

Mary Lynn Rajskub looks adorable wearing a purple Black Halo bustier pleated dress.

Her sleeveless dress has chiffon shoulder straps, a pleated A-line skirt and a red skinny leather belt. She pairs her gorg dress with nude heels.

This is one of my favourite looks of this event.

I love bright colours on the red carpet and Ashley Greene more than fulfills my love wearing a bright fuschia pink Doucette Duvall Spring 2009 dress, which she simply pairs with Jimmy Choo Verity sandals.

Anita Briem has the same idea, but she paired her Jimmy Choo Verity sandals with a cute belted black playsuit.

As much as Rachel McAdams’ embellished tank top is crying for attention, I’m instantly drawn to her Casadei Mary Janes.

They’re a vision of pure beauty.

Zoe Saldana is very much the 2009 ‘Can’t Step A Foot Wrong On The Red Carpet’  Thandie Newton.

This girl can do no wrong at the moment.

Even when her look consists of a simple white blouse with a black balloon shaped mini skirt with banded waistline she’s still amazing.

She jazzes up her look with floral t-bar heels.

Wow..the slide continues.

I’m not expecting Megan Fox to wear gowns every time she hits the red carpet, but she has to work on her casual look because it seems she can only give us a sexy look successfully.

Her looks consists of a Gucci Fall 2009 blue micro jacquard silk lurex boxy spencer jacket, a black sheer top and black jeans.

Many of you said that the CMT Music Awards was the worst dressed red carpet event this year. You will all change your minds when it comes to this event.

Never have I seen such a multiple pile up of car crash couture.

Not one person got it right. Not even Fergie and you can usually rely on her to get it right.

She wore a futuristic silver satin top which was cinched in at the waist with a sheer corset panel. A black skirt, Balenciaga heels and platinum jewels completed this look along with a very chunky bracelet.

For once I really dislike Kim Kardashian’s make-up. I know the nude/natural look is very on trend, but she looks washed out.

Kim has had so many hairstyles lately it’s hard to know if she’s cut her locks, pinned up her hair or is wearing a wig. I will always perfect her a with long dark hair. Anything else just isn’t Kim.

Her black and white strapless Nuj Novakhett Fall 2009 dress isn’t too bad, but she has looked much better in recent times.

Rumer Willis yet again gets it wrong wearing a black mini Elise Øverland dress with a lime green sequined zigzag pattern pair with Christian Louboutin Paquita gladiator sandals.

Hate is just a strong word, but I really hate this dress on her.

With her Gucci Iman heels Audrina Patridge wore a LBD by Alexander McQueen with sexy-cut outs.

This look might have worked if she’d worn a black bra under her dress.

I think this maxi dress really flatters Kelly Clarkson, but the print is reeking havoc on my eyes.

Wowaz.

Heather Graham is smokin’ hot wearing a red corseted Dolce & Gabbana dress. I’m sure the traffic behind her was at a standstill as jaws hit the dashboard.

The actress wore her sexy dress with the same Jimmy Choo Flynn strappy sandals she wore to other event recently, plus a gold metallic purse.

I would have preferred a clutch, but when she looks this hot, who’s looking at the purse?

I really love the colour combination of Kate Walsh’s Stella McCartney Pre-Fall red wool skirt and purple silk sleeveless top. The colours really pop, and she wears her ensemble with a great stance, than the model.

This is what I love to see on the red carpet, someone who’s not afraid of colour.

Kristen Bell looked stunning in a Brian Reyes Fall 2009 belted dress, with a delicate lace overlay.

I always think of Kristen as a tween, but when I see her standing so elegantly in her stunning dress, I’m reminded that she is a gorgeous confident young woman.

As much as I adored her in this dress, her Brian Atwood pumps, Bally striped box clutch and a House of Lavande statement necklace, really perfect the look.

Yes I’m gushing.

It’s back.

The Alexander McQueen ‘Squeeze It’ clutch which Audrina Patridge is so very fond of, is back on the red carpet after missing one event.

The star carried her clutch, whilst wearing a sexy chocolate brown silk Diane von Furstenberg dress, with an Alexander McQueen black patent belt, and YSL Lola heels.

I think Audrina is the only reality TV star to have not worn Trib Two’s.

With her strappy Prada heels, Ashley Olsen wore a black slip dress from her favourite brand Calvin Klein.

As plain as the dress is, it allows her natural gorgeousness to shine through.

Mary-Kate Olsen channels her inner John Lennon, with rose tinted glasses, to evoke a 60s style moment.

I would’ve liked to have seen more of her printed mini dress, but its lost under her black oversized blazer.

She also wears Prada heels, and carries a very interesting fringed bag.

Eva Mendes’ printed maxi dress, feels better suited to a day shopping with her girls at The Grove, but it is gorgeous.

When Audrina Patridge carried an Alexander McQueen dove grey clutch to the MTV Movie Awards last night, it ended her run of carrying her black patent Alexander McQueen ‘Squeeze It’ bow clutch, to every red carpet event.

The clutch has served her well, from the 2009 Grammy Awards back in February, to the Maxim’s 10th Annual Hot 100 Celebration a fortnight ago.

Apart from her yellow 3.1 Phillip Lim skirt, the clutch has mostly been worn with darker colours. This black clutch wouldn’t have worked so well with the sparking bronze mini, and cream Louboutin’s she wore to the MTV Movie Awards.

The patent leather bag, has a gold snap closure, and is large enough to carry the blackberry, purse, lipstick, compact essentials.

The clutch is available in an array of colours, including this black clutch with a smoke print detail, which is available from the Net-A-Porter’s US site for $1,180, or the International site £538/€645.

Audrina’s version is available from Alexander McQueen website on sale from $1,020 to $614.

Best Dressed Award
This is the impact I wanted Cameron Diaz to make, but instead that honour goes to Sienna Miller.

I love the sea green colour of her Swarovski-encrusted Twenty8Twelve Fall 2009 dress.

The length is perfect to show off her pins, and the shoulder pads are subtle enough not to draw any Balmain comparisons.

The Brit actress carried a silvery Chanel clutch, and wore pair gorgeous Nicholas Kirkwood gold heels, to complete this stunning look.

I Don’t Follow Red Carpet Rules Award
If we expected Kristen Stewart to wear a cute pink mini dress, with silver strappy sandals, we were wrong.

She hit the red carpet wearing a Yigal Azrouël Fall 2009 red and black dress, with a cross cross detail on the sheer yoke, and a wide black belt.

I can imagine her being wrestled into this dress, and her stylist compromising on the Converse sneakers, but she totally rocks this look.

Best Black Award
Leighton Meester took a risk at the Costume Institute Gala, which didn’t pay off for me, but this edgy cut-out Emilio De La Morena Spring 2009 dress totally works.

This interesting dress has peek-a-boo parts, sheer panels, folds, and cut-outs, which Blair Waldorf wouldn’t approve of, but totally love.

She completes her look with Brian Atwood Brie purple suede ankle boots.

Risk That Paid Off Award
Taraji P. Henson certain got into the spirit of this fun awards ceremony, wearing a black and white strapless printed Roberto Cavalli Spring 2009 bustier dress.

The part French maid, part Chinese porcelain inspired look is definitely daring, and with her fun-loving personality she totally pulls it off.

I love how she plays up the ruffled detail on the back of her skirt, and her punky spiky new ‘do.

Moving Out Of Her Comfort Zone Award
This Moschino Fall 2009 red and navy floral print sleeveless dress with a ruffled hem, seems a little out of Lauren Conrad’s comfort-zone, which I really appreciate.

It feels a bit dark and mysterious, which is complemented with dark red lips, and black strappy booties.

I only wish she had pulled her hair back, to show off the floral shoulder detail.

Best Use Of Colour Award
I love to see bold bright colours on the red carpet, which is why I love Vanessa Hudgens peach satin Max Azria dress.

The dress is very grown up, but she injects her youthful glow and enthusiasm, to make this a perfect red carpet look, which she pairs with Jimmy Choo shoes, and a Nancy Gonzalez bronze clutch.

I really glad she didn’t go full on boho, with a printed maxi dress, which we’ve seen many times from her.

Hate The Hair, Love The Dress Award
I love Megan Fox’s black and gold Dolce & Gabbana strapless brocade cocktail dress, which she had shorten. It really suits her dark, mysterious persona, plus it shows off her toned figure.

She wisely kept accessories to a minimum, and added a bit of spice via her Christian Louboutin Differa sandals.

The biggest downsides are her hair, overly orange glow.

Best Theme Award
At first I hated Ashley Greene’s hair, but then I realised how much it worked with what appears to be a 40s housewife theme.

The hair works with her alluringly form-fitting Dolce & Gabbana floral print dress, with a beautiful, yet subtle voluminous skirt.

A neon yellow clutch, and bold red lips, add a touch of bright colour.

The Kate Beckinsale “This Is Not The Oscars” Award
I was really surprised to see LeAnn Rimes wearing such a formal gown by J.Mendel to the MTV Movie Awards.

She looks beautiful, she really does, but she’s a little overdressed.

Most Vanilla Award
Miley Cyrus opted for a very soft look for this event. I would’ve expected something with a lot more attitude, but she looks lovely in her pale pink cowl neck Moschino Cheap & Chic dress, which had a ruffled detail, going down her back.

The only hint of the wild rock wannabee Miley, was via her rings and bracelets.

Best Re-Run Award
I love Ashley Tisdale’s purple leather Elise Øverland dress, and the accessories she picked really punch up the look, especially those lust worthy Paul & Joe Sister heels.

We’ve seen this look before on the red carpet, but as Ashley wears it so well, that all is forgiven.

Surprisingly Not Predictable Award
I would have expected 3 things from Audrina Patridge.

1. Something low cut
2. Her black Alexander McQueen Bow Clutch
3. Her Balmain studded heels.

She blows that out of the water wearing a loose fitting paillette covered Joey Tierny Couture dress, with a dove grey Alexander McQueen clutch, and cream Louboutin heels.

Nice Dress, Shame About The Shoes Award
Keke Palmer’s look was almost perfect. I really loved her coral embellished Elise Øverland dress. It’s young, it’s fun, it sparkles, and it summery, but those grey booties lose her many points.

Stand Out Award
Malin Akerman stood out the most, because she is the only one who opted for pants, wearing a crisp, white Dolce & Gabbana suit, with a pale blue corset.

Her hair was sleeked back to complete this sophisticated look, which she didn’t over accessorize.

Most Summery Award
Yes Paris Hilton needs a new clutch and shoe combo, but there’s no denying her vibrant vest for spring and summery colours.

I love her cute coral Jenny Packham Spring 2009 strapless mini, with its ruffled skirt, and gold embroidered bodice.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun/Au Natural Award
Monique Coleman must have sensed when she looked in the mirror, that she would get ridiculed for her hair.  I admire her for ditching the extensions, and going au natural. I can’t see many others sporting this look.

Her Christian Louboutin Spartenvol Strass sandals complemented her silver and black spacey mini tutu dress, which you may all hate, but I will take this over a mini dress with tights any day.

She wanted to have fun at this event, and it shows.
