Whoopi Goldberg In Christian Siriano – 2018 Oscars

Whoopi Goldberg also attended the 2018 Oscars in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 4).

The Hollywood legend and current talkshow host wore a custom Christian Siriano gown. I love the idea of these two working together, because when I think of Whoopi, I don’t automatically think of Christian Siriano.

Unfortunately, that’s about the end of what I love. This is what we can delicately call ‘a lot of look’, and it definitely fits with Whoopi’s M.O. of bucking every fashion convention. It is simply unflattering. The belt. The enormous flowers–I can’t get behind this, and I’m guessing most of you will agree.

Rita Hayek In Elie Saab – 2018 Oscars

Rita Hayek also attended the 2018 Oscars on Sunday (March 4) in Los Angeles.

The Lebanese actress wore a Elie Saab Resort 2018 gown that definitely gave the virtually unknown (to American audiences) actress a moment in the spotlight.

I often think of watercolor as a very delicate medium, but using these bold, jewel-toned colors, the watercolor print on the fabric is strong and fierce. While I often turn up my nose to gown that reveal this much skin, this is done in such a refined way–it is classy, and I’m here for it! Oh, and there’s a cape!

Are you as excited by this look as I am?

Samara Weaving In Schiaparelli Couture – 2018 Oscars

Samara Weaving attended the 2018 Oscars in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 4).

The actress wore a breathtaking Schiaparelli Couture gown with Bvlgari jewels.

Talk about a bright spot! I don’t know where to begin with everything that is wonderful about this gown. The draping is stunning, and the color story is truly inspirational. At first glance, you only notice two different shades of coral, but there are also streaks of bubble gum pink, adding even more depth. And then of course, the belting. I love it when a ‘real life’ version of a gown is even better than we saw on the runway, and this bejeweled option really is perfection.

The equally colorful earrings, Samara’s relaxed updo and the copper-toned makeup are all superb.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge In Vionnet – 2018 Oscars

Phoebe Waller-Bridge attended the 2018 Oscars in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 4).

The actress wore a Vionnet Fall 2018 gown that is equals parts classic and fun.

I can’t help but smile when I see this gown. It’s got all the classic elements of a sophisticated red carpet gown with just a smidge of 80s prom flair, and the humor that only polka dots can afford.

It’s subtle enough to be graceful, but different enough to take note.

Maya Rudolph In Valentino – 2018 Oscars

Maya Rudolph walked the red carpet of the 2018 Oscars on Sunday (March 4) in Los Angeles.

The presenter wore a unexpected Valentino gown with Irene Neuwirth earrings.

When I first saw images of this dress, I really didn’t understand the look, but after seeing it ‘in action’ on the stage during the show, it totally made sense as a gown, and as a part of Maya’s unique approach to fashion.

The earrings are unexpected and spectacular, and honestly, I really do love this whole look. Better late than never?

Kelly Ripa In Christian Siriano – 2018 Oscars

Kelly Ripa was one of the first stars to make her way down the red carpet of the 2018 Oscars in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 4).

The talk show host wore a Christian Siriano Spring 2018 that is all about fun.

What I really love about this gown is that it’s all classic business in the front, but then presents such a fun fashion wink in the back. I love the color, and the volume, and the mirth!

Some diamonds, a classically curled bob and fresh makeup are perfectly paired with the loads of fun gown.

Leslie Mann In Zac Posen – 2018 Oscars

Leslie Mann walked the red carpet of the 2018 Oscars with her husband, Judd Apatow on Sunday (March 4) in Los Angeles.

For the occasion, the actress wore a Zac Posen Resort 2018.

There is such a joy in this gown, and I simply love it. The fact that there is a print here, but it is so subtle is a really great effect.

Simple makeup–but a perfectly matched red lip–along with her signature easy blowout, finish Leslie’s lovely look.
