2012 BET Awards

The 2012 BET Awards was held at The Shrine Auditorium in LA on Sunday evening with several stars taking to the red carpet.

Selita Ebanks: The model sported a sexy, futuristic look wearing a Falguni and Shane Peacock dress with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. The silver clutch doesn’t work for me, even with the silver bead work on her dress, but the rest of her look scores highly.

La La Vazquez-Anthony: The TV personality opted for a ‘Studio 54-esque’ look wearing a shimmering Lois London jumpsuit. Her top-notch styling included a vintage Versace belt, Jimmy Choo heels and complementary Loren Ridinger jewels. A side-swept ponytail completed her look.

Monica Brown: The singer looked sensational rocking a berry-coloured look which featured a structured blazer and sequin pants.

This year Gwen Stefani attended her first Cannes Film Festival as a L’Oreal girl.

She grace the red carpet at the premiere for ‘This Must Be The Place’ wearing a Giorgio Armani Spring 2011 gown.

Her chic white silk gown with a black asymmetrical strap and an opening just above the waist was teamed with tri-colour Christian Louboutin peep-toes and a red clutch.

Angela Bassett wore the same dress to the Multicultural Benefit Gala to celebrate ‘An Evening of Many Cultures’ at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last month.

She finished off her look with a sleek bob, a black clutch and black peep-toes.

This is a hard one for me because I didn’t like Gwen’s heavy eye makeup, but I preferred her accessories and I loved the red lips, so she eventually wins for me.

Eloisa Dudamel stuns in a gorgeous orange Angel Sanchez Resort 2010 asymmetrical edged hemmed gown.

I really loved this gown when I saw the lookbook on nymag.com, but I was so wished I couldn’t see it from the front.

Eloisa grants that wish in spectacular style.

I’m glad she picked the orange.

Jenna Elfman walked the red carpet wearing an Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2009 bod-con black and red houndstooth knit dress with bow collar.

What a stylish way to show off your baby bump.

Sophia Bush has wobbled a bit on the red carpet, but she was back to her outstanding best wearing an eggplant BCBG Max Azria one-shoulder tiered gown.

Does Rachel Griffiths really want me to believe she had a baby back in June, because on this evidence I don’t believe her.

She looks fabulous in her fitted LBD.

Rita Wilson always gives me fabulous.  She is the perfect +1.

I love how her silver dress shimmers.

Angela Bassett is a lot let fabulous.

She looks older than Rita, when in fact Rita is the older of the two.

Angela, please get your groove back.

Mary J Blige wore a red Michael Kors Spring 2009 dress. I like the dress, but I liked it better on the runway with a the red patent belt.

What I do love here is her metallic elaphe snakeskin Jimmy Choo clutch with gold hardware.

The nights host Gabrielle Union wore a black asymmetrical Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2009 gown, which had a jeweled detail on the shoulder.

Of her many wardrobe changes, Gabrielle wore a white David Meister Spring 2008 jersey with beading details on the waist.

I like her red dress from the thighs up, but I am very surprised that after walking the red carpet in a black dress, that she wore a further 2 black dresses to present in.

Come on Gabrielle, mix is up a little. Give us more variety.

Such safe options.

Queen Latifah arrived wearing an off-the-shoulder black lace dress.

I much preferred her Pamella Roland Fall 2008 strapless gown with a satin sash at the waist, in the colour of the moment, electric blue.

A gown really fit for a Queen.

Joss Stone arrived in head to toe silver.

Why wear just a goregous emerald green gown, if you are going to cover in with a coat Angela Bassett?

I love her hair cut.

Whitney Houston wearing a beige chiffon strapless Kaufman Franco Spring 2008 gown, with black spiral pattern through-out.

The best she has looked in a long while.

You may have noticed that towards the end of 2008, I was making an effort to be nice to Beyonce. She had made a lot of changes – stylewise – so I said to myself that in 2009 I will make a conscious effort to be nice to her.

Well we are 8 days into the New Year, and I will already be breaking my New Years resolution.

WFT is going on here?

Is her colourist still on vacay? Like really.

I don’t have her kind of money, but I would NEVER leave my house with hair like that unless I was going to the salon.

She also making very hard work of this off-the-shoulder olive Donna Karan dress, and her matching sequin wrap.

Lets move onto the make-up. Just look at were her hairline starts and were her foundation is applied. There is at least an inch gap.

Shame on you B, shame on you. The only thing working for me here is the YSL Tribute sandals.

With her hair piled high Angela Bassett looked very elegant in her Pamella Roland Spring 2009 black and silver dot gown.

She was the only one to inject a bit of old fashion glamour to the red carpet at this event.

June Ambrose, the stylish stylist that she is, wore a grey tweed YSL Fall 2008 dress, which had a blue lining. That blue lining worked well with the blue sole of her YSL Trib Two’s. Nice touch.

Is it me or is Ciara almost totally unrecognizable? It appears she has lost a lot of weight, because all I can focus on are her cheek bones.

The singer worked a black leather ensemble with leopard print Louboutin’s.

A furless Mary J Blige walked the red carpet wearing as much tanned leather as she could find in her closet.

Cassie looked supa dupa fly in her cream and black embroidered Givenchy Fall 2008 jacket, with skin-tight black pants and YSL Cut-out platform heels.
