2008 NAACP Image Awards

Vanessa Williams looked youthful and radiant in this stunning one-shouldered Zuhair Murad gown.

This Marchesa Spring 2008 dress America Ferrera is wearing makes up for the grey dress she wore to the SAG Awards.

I love the colour on her and the embellished shoulder and bust-line detail.

Kate Walsh is stunning in this midnight blue embellished one-shouldered gown, which gives her a very sexy silhouette.

I love her darker ‘do.

Meagan Good looked to be in the Valentine’s Day spirit as she held a red rose whilst wearing a pink Herve Leger dress.

Jordin Sparks is the epitome of dull in this chocolate strapless gown. I can not believe she won Best Newcomer at this event. It makes me question the validity of these awards.

I am glad that Eva Pigford got rid of the long weave, as this style suits her much better.

I am loving the back of this dress more than the front.

Taraji Henson’s looks to be wearing a fanny pack, but she is actually just showing off her hot pink bag.

Screen Actors Guild Awards – Worst Dressed

Worst Statement Dress Award

OK Angelina Jolie is obviously wearing this vintage Hermes strapless free flowing dress in an attempt to hide her pregnancy. Yawn.

Worst Dressed Award

Tilda Swinton has a very unique androgynous style, but she should have lost the jacket or opted for a cropped version.

Most Disappointing Award

This hurts.

I tried to love it, but I just could not.

Cate Blanchett, my fashion favourite really let me down last night, despite this dress being Balenciaga.

Worst Colour Award

America Ferrera on the red carpet again wearing Monique Lhuillier.

The partnership has worked very well so far, but on this occasion this dress falls flat for me. I really dislike the colour.

I have not seen America on the red carpet since November, and I expected more from her.

Worst Embellishments Award

Jane Krakowski should have worn her hair back, as the embellishments on this Catherine Malandrino Spring 2008 halter gown totally dominate it.

It also looks like she has a bowl of fruit around her neck.

Worst Dress / Shoes Combo Award

I admire the fact that Chandra Wilson wanted to try something different from the standard gown, but this sequined dress did not work for me, neither did the shoes.

Had the dress been in one colour, maybe I would have liked it more.

It’s Not Working Award

Rebecca Romijn can do so much better, this colour on this Roberto Cavalli 2008 Resort dress is too dark and not at all flattering for her.

For me Rebecca is more of a bubble gum pink type of girl.

Worst Hair Award

Kate Hudson is wearing a beautiful strapless Balmain Spring 2008 floral gown with beaded detail, but I am not keen on the dress as an red carpet event dress.

I am also disliking her hair.

Time To Find A New Stylist Award

I am just not sure about this material for Nikki Blonsky. The style is OK, but it may have been better if it was empire waisted.

Back To Black Award

This is a really nice Zac Posen dress, but I am beyond bored of Ellen Page in black, and that is why she is in this category.

Worst D List Award

Lisa Rinna is trying to grab attention in this Jenny Packham Spring 2008 animal print dress, but just comes off desperate.

She has dressed so much better in the past on the red carpet, so this is very disappointing.

Most Boring Award

For a young girl, Andrea Bowen should be experimenting more.

Style Spotlight – America Ferrera

America Georgina Ferrera (born April 18, 1984) is an award winning Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award actress from her role as Betty Suarez on the ABC comedy/drama series Ugly Betty.

In 2006, she landed the lead role in Ugly Betty, an adaptation of the Colombian hit telenovela Betty La Fea, in which she portrays a girl that her peers find extremely unattractive, thus the series title. As Betty Suarez, Ferrera wears fake braces on her teeth, bushy eyebrows and a disheveled wig, and make-up and clothing intended to downplay her own good looks.

In real life America Ferrera is beautiful and stylish. My only comment is that she appears to ALWAYS wears black. In the last 6 months America has worn black to every event excluding The Screen Actors Guild Awards, The Golden Globes and The 24th Annual William S. Paley Television Festival.

America has a few films in the pipeline, so we can get so see more of America Ferrera. (hopefully in an ensemble that is not black).
